And if you look at the artwork of the cards, both of them share the same positioning of a reptilian creature inside an orange-red substance, leading me to believe they are related.
Before I start, I want to thank Mattaruu95 for suggesting ideas and helping me with this theory.
As the title suggests, we came up with a theory about The Boomsday Project. We think that the set will focus on call-backs and references to older expansions. While most expansions include some references we do think this one will include way more than the usual and will heavily focus on them and heres why:
* Lets start with the obvious: Look at the main character of the expansion. The character of one of the most iconic cards in the game - Dr Boom.
* Another point is the fact that classes are devided to groups again - as mentioned in the Magnetic keyword explanation video ( source - )
just like in the Mean Streets of Gadgetzan expansion (note that the classes mentioned in the video are the same trio of classes that make the Grimy Goons faction in MSoG).
* A simple look at the reveal schedule shows a lot more than just random bits of artwork - we can see some cards that match with previous expansions.
Here are some next to the relative card/artwork from a previous expansion.
( a card that will be revealed later on next to GvG's Annoy-o-Tron )
( WotOG's C'thun next to a card that suspicously looks like a Mech version of C'Thun )
( Another one of the cards that will be revealed next to some artwork from JtU )
( This one is a bit of a stretch as the card could be any Spirit, but it does remind me of MSoG's Jade Spirit )
* Here is another thing I forgot to mention - the prepurchase. While looking back at every single one of the previous prepurchase cardbacks, I noticed a rather obivous pattern - all of them are related directly to the expansion, its lore and its theme (BRM has the Molten Core card back, WotG has The Eyes of C'thun one, and so on). Looking at this expansion's prepurchase and its cardback (the Mecha Jaraxxus cardback), it doesn't relate directly to Dr. Boom, B.O.O.M Labs or the Netherstorm. It does however, feature an old popular card reimagined as a Mech version in the form of a playable hero.

That's a good point!
We do know there's a character called "Zerek" and he has to do with multiplying
"My work here involves much, much more than squinting through a telescope, as that multiplying moron Zerek claims." (From the Lab Logs)

I am really hyped for the 'Mech'Thun' card and I do hope they make him somewhat related to the previous C'thun.

Hey, thanks for your comment.
I'm pretty sure the Shaman project would be with electricity or energy (based on the lab logs - )

And finally - This one looks like a card that will be a 0 mana 1/1 Mech (Just like Murloc Tinyfin and Snowflipper Penguin)
