Shudderwock is very good for the game. It encourages players to try new strategies instead of going for only one type.
What are you talking about? It's a combo deck, that is all. There have always been combo decks, which, incidentally, are usually among the most hated decks....Freeze Mage, Razakus Priest, FON/SR Druid, Quest Rogue, etc.
how about adding the worth in dollar to the table with current exchange rate? Would be interesting to compare
Not to be a jerk...but how about looking up the exchange rates and adding them to the thread yourself? If it's something you'd like to see...why not do it yourself instead of asking someone else to???
Shudderwok was always sort of this fringe deck that was more or less just annoying to play against. It surprisingly made its way into tournaments but other than that it’s just another otk deck.
The most recent nerfs created something of a power vacuum , and by doing so birthed taunt druid, And in return reversed the meta into a furious battleground of aggro decks battling for dominance. Odd Rogue, Odd Paladin, Evenlock, Even Shaman , Tempo Mage and the Undying Zoolock. Hell even Hunter has this weird midrange Deathrattle thing going on.
In conclusion Shudderwok has no place here for his jaws to bite and claws to detach.
Shudderwock needs to get a solid set of battlecries before it is able to be solid. It just needs to change up. I have met a lot of aggro decks and had to change up parts of the deck like including Wild Pyromancer and Hemet, Jungle Hunter to be sure that you get the cards needed instead of cards meant to dig through and wait out the game until you can drop the game win.
Yeah I think I played you today. I hope you enjoyed the roping! Stop playing dbag decks.
LOLzz some of you people will be waiting forever for some of those cards to be useful...aka they never will be. It's really bad advice to tell someone, especially a new player, to hold onto a Legendary they can't use right now and is obviously only ever going to be useful in some fringe meme deck if at all. So keep holding on to your Temporus and Duskfallen Avianas, etc. I laugh. The ONLY reason to hang onto those type of cards is if you are set with dust and have all of the decks you want to play.
I see your situation. I always thought that getting duplicates of cards was largely unnecessary and a cash grab if new players aren't aware what Blizzard is selling us. We want the collection. We don't want dust. There should be an option to complete the set without having to buy endless packs. You should be able to get the whole set from the preorder alone. What's the point of needless RNG in opening packs only to realize your money spent doesn't get you the whole set, instead dozens of duplicates? It's a feels bad moment to put money in and not even get the card you need.
STRONGLY disagree. Pack opening is one of the coolest things about CCG. Eliminating it or eliminating the coolness factor of FINALLY opening that card you've been chasing would turn A LOT of people off of the game. I know I never would have gotten into HS without pack opening RNG.
OP - there has been some good advice and some good perspective given in this thread. To re-iterate and embellish on some of it....
First, being a noob and expecting to immediately be able to climb ladder is ridiculous. Just like everyone else unwilling to spend money, put in your time and, as they say, "get gud". The expectation that the game somehow owes you something just because you downloaded it and created an account is typical of the attitude of many people these days, and it's sad. The internet age has zero patience...this is why we see this exact thread over and over and over and over and over again. I'm actually really glad that Blizzard does leave some room for noobs to struggle at the beginning.
Second, IMO, starting fresh today is not all that much more difficult than starting up 2.5 years ago. Blizzard is MUCH more generous these days, from free packs and dust during giveaways, to the monthly rewards, to the division of ladder where you can't fall below rank 5, 10, etc after losses, to giving free legendaries at the start of each expansion....NONE of that stuff was around 2.5 years ago. People whine "Oh look at Shadowverse....they gave me 50 packs last month just for signing in! What's up Blizzard....where's my 50 packs????!11??" And I just laugh because that crap game HAS TO give away all of it's cards because otherwise NOBODY would play it because it's a crap game geared toward aggro decks almost exclusively (not to mention the crap layout of the entire game in general).
Third, yes, you do actually have to disenchant almost all of your cards to get a ladder viable deck. You will be playing that deck for a long time, so get good at it. Pick a deck like aggro pally or something, disenchant as many cards as you need to...even good ones...make the deck and just play it nonstop. When I first started I played mech mage for MANY months before moving on to tempo mage. Probably spent 90% of my first year in HS playing mage exclusively.
Fourth, as suggested, play arena and get good in that environment. It will get you dust, and more importantly, it will teach you the basics of good decision making without having to face perfected netdecks where making one mistake means you are toast. It will show you, for example, that sometimes you play a Shattered Sun Cleric on 3 without anything else on the board because waiting to get the value from the battlecry sometimes leaves you in a worse position. Be sure to use Heartharena when you do your draft. That said, don't be afraid to take cards that don't get the highest rating from HA because while the HA formula is very good, it's still not as dynamic as the human brain. Use it as a tool, but not as a rule.
Fifth, watch streamers on twitch and youtube. Watch Kripparian to get better at arena. Watch Disguised Toast, Kibler, Trump, Zalae, etc to get good at ladder.
Sixth, in my opinion, it's better to invest money in getting lessons rather than investing in packs. Gamersensei and Hearthstonecoaching are good resources for that. You can actually get lessons from some VERY good players and they can quickly improve your approach to HS.
Seventh, set goals. When I first started, my goal was to improve one rank each month. Didn't always happen, but it usually did. It feels good to accomplish a goal each month.
Finally, realize it takes time. If you aren't willing to invest time and/or money, this game is not for you. And rightly so. I remember waiting MONTHS to get enough dust to craft a new legendary. It felt like a huge accomplishment when I finally could and it felt great playing a new deck enabled by crafting that card. Have patience and learn the skills. If you have a decent gaming mind, and commit the time, you will eventually get to the point of making a run at Legend.
Actually it's not that great anymore since Pally is much less common and Shudderwock is more common. It's not really a deck that will get you to Legend anymore, IMO.
Yeah, I don't know how some are calling LoE a good meta. I mean, Reno fucking Jackson, fgs.
Reno is only bad if you play aggro lol
Exactly, it stifled an entire gameplay style single-handedly, and you could cheat copies of him. I played him even in midrange/aggro decks to great results, he was THAT powerful. Not a healthy card.
Good point....except there was PLENTY of aggro around in the LoE meta.

All you have to do is filter for "mech" in your collection. Enable crafting if you also want to see ones you don't have.

If that was supposed to be an insult, u r fail.

Ahhh yes....another "legend" with a brainless aggro deck. Such skill. So wow. So pro. 360 no scope. Amaze!

Sometimes. Very often Doom Pact and Army of the Dead are useless cards.

Evenlock is aggro?? Um, no.

???
You can play TWO 12/6 taunts for 8 mana on turn 10.

Because of this card, it's not likely to be very good, IMO.
