posted a message on Anyone beaten Heroic Jepetto?

He's very tough. I beat him on Heroic in previous chapters but not yet for Chapter 3. The four minion limit really makes this chapter more challenging than previous ones since most of the OP treasures you get requires board space to be used effectively.

im not a f2p player at all, and i have no problem buying more packs i was going to do that anyways, but i buy packs with the intent of dusting X amounts of legends and epics for the cards i want. I do this maybe twice a week spending about $100 dollars a month on the game depending how lucrative my month was. That being said, i don't dust every card, just the ones i thought were niche and trash teir and didnt synergize with the rest of my collection. But. Those cards just changed and ive dusted them all a dozen times over so yeah im a little mad.

How is it that you spend $100 a month and still need to dust any cards at all? I personally only buy the expansion promo bundles (i.e. $50-80 every four months) and the rest with gold (about 6-7k gold saved up come each expansion), and I have more than enough dust to build all the top tier decks (and some fun decks) just by dusting duplicates. As a rule, I never dust non-duplicates unless they have rotated out of Standard (and even then I restrict myself to trash tier cards).

You shouldn't complain about the buffs just because you made poor dusting decisions.

posted a message on Card buffs make more sense for Blizzard from a financial perspective

What took Blizzard so long to figure out that card buffs make way more sense financially than nerfs?

With card nerfs, Blizzard actually loses $$$ because they have to refund the dust value of the nerfed cards to those who have them (while players who don't already have those cards will stop spending dust on them). Card buffs, on the other hand, encourage users to use up their dust/buy more dust to craft and try out new decks with the buffed cards.

It is surely no coincidence that, of the 18 card buffs, 4 of them are Legendary buffs and 5 of them are Epic buffs (i.e. 50% of the buffs are to Legendary and Epic cards even though there are fewer of them compared to Commons and Rares).

Also, establishing that buffs are a possibility creates a stronger disincentive for players to dust any of their seemingly lousy cards (like Dr Morrigan) in the future. This means that players spend more money buying packs to get enough dust to craft the decks they want.

posted a message on Nerf Conjurer's Calling next please

Conjurer Mage is one of the few decks keeping Control Warrior in check, so nerfing it will be bad for the meta. It's pretty weak against aggro decks and is not even Tier 1.

    Quote from NightCrawl3r >>
It's very easy these days to experience games second-hand from streamers and in this instance, that kind of experience is good enough for me.

How could it possibly be good enough? You are not making your own choices and figuring out how to beat each level yourself. It's like saying you can enjoy a burger by watching someone else eat it.

I love this non-theme - without restrictions, people got to submit their best ideas and it shows in the finalists!

posted a message on New Warlock Spell - Impferno

This card isn't that great because you need such specific conditions to get full value out of it. You need a board of demons AND the enemy having multiple minions susceptible to your AOE.

Most of the time it will just be an overpriced Arcane Explosion or a significantly worse Blessing of the Ancients.

Rather uncreative effect for a 10-mana Legendary. We've seen a similar type of effect on other cards already (e.g. The Boomship, Captain Hooktusk)...

I'm disappointed. Usually there is some unique Hearthstone flavour to the expansion title. But Rise of Shadows is such a generic name that could be the title for any other game.

posted a message on Weekly Card Design Competition 9.08 - Final Poll

It's disappointing how cards get voted into the finals purely on the strength of a clever gimmick, when they are simply not well thought through (or at least not adequately explained) or won't work in practice.

Take The Calculator for example - what does "When you have lethal" mean? If your opponent has Ice Block up, then you don't actually have lethal (unless you have a "Destroy the enemy Hero" effect ready to go), yet the card creator's post in the Submission Thread suggests that the card will let you bypass secrets. And what about random effects (like holding Crackle when your opponent has 4 Health)? It's bad card design to reference a fuzzy concept that does not have a clear definition.

Paradox is another card that - by design - doesn't even work mechanically. The whole point of the card is that it is unknown whether Paradox can Discover itself. It's like creating a card that says "Set your hero's health to 0 and 100". It's clever for the sake of being clever without satisfying the basic requirement of functioning as a card that could be included in the game.

Voting for Automorphism and Altar of Greater.
