Combo decks aren't Control decks - totally different archetype. Obviously you wouldn't play this against a combo deck. As with all things in Hearthstone, it's contingent upon the player to understand what they're playing against.
Exactly - this is a skill card. The player has to know when to play it to mitigate the downside. That means they have to know what kind of deck they're playing against and what's likely in their hand. They also need a plan - are you dropping this card for the armor, to bait your opponent into overextending, to set up a massive Shield Slam.
I've noticed more and more people saying this and I totally agree. I think the DK might flat-out have a battlecry of "Summon any discarded minions". It fits with the theme of the set (raising minions from the dead) and it's the classic kind of Blizzard risk-reward mechanic (discard the right minions and you win the game, discard inconsequential minions, and you're gonna have a bad time).
Bottom line, Team 5 wouldn't reveal this card so early if there wasn't more to it.
I've been thinking this for a while now. Blizzard has slowly been toying with cards that make discard not feel so shitty (Malchezaar's Imp, Clutchmother Zavas, and of course Silverware Golem), but they haven't been enough to make the discard-lock archetype really viable. You give us one or two cards that allow us to interact with the discard pile (discover or random summon/cast), and suddenly the whole idea becomes far more interesting.
Once Blizzard released the whole concept behind the DK cards, I've been thinking that Warlock will absolutely get something that works w/ discard. I'm picturing a 'summon all discarded minions' kind of battlecry; something that still has some risk involved (what if you didn't discard any minions? What if they were all crap? What if they are battlecry dependent?) but also has a huge potential upside (you summon two huge bodies on turn 6 or so).
I'm not sure how I feel about this card, but I do want to see more mechanisms for Warlock to help discarding not feel so shitty. My hope is that we eventually get a card that lets us discover a discarded card or possibly even play a random discarded card.
I love this time of year! Every day, get a few more cards and a slightly larger sense of what the expansion is going to look and feel like. So far I'm digging this Frozen-Naxxramas kind of vibe. I'm waiting for some giant mammoths and more crazy undead stuff.
Screw the haters who are freaking out because every announced card isn't some OP'd, game changing thing!
I wonder if there will be additional egg-like deathrattle cards in this set that would turn this into one hell of a useful trigger. Nerubian Egg and what not.
Want to keep the player base happy and involved? Keep stuff like this coming! As a more casual player, I've always stayed away from Arena, so the free run was a blast. Now give us an event where we can earn a random class legendary!
How awesome would it be if we could 'unlock' effects like this, the fire festival's flame effect, and more and select which one the opponent sees when using certain emotes. It would be a fun little vanity option similar to card backs.
That's a concern, too, but I think the bigger one is the fact that the pity counter is expansion specific (something I didn't know when I posted). Honestly, I wouldn't have worried about the dupes so much if the counter was global as I would have simply waited for the new expansion (thus no dupes), opened Un Goro packs until the counter was hit (15 packs max), and then switched to Frozen packs.
But now I'll just save my gold and dive into Frozen when the time comes and someday 'clean-up' my Un Goro counter.
Don't open any card packs you obtain from now until the expansion.
This one's situational, right? For example, if you're high in your pity counter (I'm at about 25 packs, right now), you might as well keep going until you get that one last legendary before the new set comes. I'm assuming the pity counter will reset with the prequel legendary and the 'first 10 packs' legendary.
The new set is basically a brand-new, 10 pack pity counter, so you don't want all the work (or money) you've sunk into the current counter to go to waste! Of course it does depend on other things, like whether you're a pay or f2p player. Everyone is different.
But, point being, try to think about where you are in the current counter.

These are two great freaking cards! I especially love the skill behind using Bring It On! to set up board-clears. Perfect definition of an epic card.

Damn nice card. Tons of synergies. Anti-aggro promoting. I like it very, very much!

So what if Warlock's Death Knight is something along the lines of 'Summon any discarded minions?'

Blood-Queen Lana'thel has some badass art at least.

Wow... ass-ton of anger here today!

Ah, I didn't know that. Good deal. I'll keep saving my mountain of coin then!

With how few spells are being run in this brawl, Millhouse Manastorm has finally found his calling.
