Why shut down Mercenaries? It isn't getting updated, let the people who still play it enjoy it, if you don't then just ignore it.

OpenhandML posted a message on How many of you have quit or play significantly less since this new expansion?Posted in: General DiscussionIn my opinion, HS has been going downhill at light speed for a while now.
I think Blizzard has finally created a state where the game is basically unfixable. There are way too many fundamental problems with the game at this point. We would need straight up card changes on a scale which has never been seen to get remotely back to older Hearthstone.
Personally I've quit altogether. (I was on my last leg when the mini set came out)
With that said, I still like to keep up with the news and see what the community is up to.
I'm just curious where others are at. Has this been the final nail in the coffin for many of you like it has been me? Do you think Hearthstone has hit an irrepairable state? Are you playing significantly less? Maybe you still enjoy it?

AndreiLux posted a message on Say My Name is This Week's Tavern BrawlPosted in: NewsSame feelings. I remember all the cards from first 6-7 years, but can't remember a lot of new ones so I completed the brawl only after two resets. Especially DH, many cards from last couple of years are the same picture to me. Still a fun brawl, although perhaps annoying for new players.

Dunscot posted a message on Say My Name is This Week's Tavern BrawlPosted in: NewsI can definitely tell with this Brawl that after some point in Hearthstone's history I stopped paying attention to the card names. Three expansions plus mini-set per year, hundreds of cards and you only see about half or less of them regularly enough to remember them, a much smaller fraction remains relevant in Wild, and this year in year out.
I played a couple rounds and could remember some obscure card from TGT or Frozen Throne just fine, but some Demon Hunter card nobody ever used and I'm like "oh right, I completely forgot this even exists".
I had to guess Eredar Deceptor, and also had the name for Illidari Inquisitor on hand, and thought that Eredar sounds more like a Warlock card I probably never used. In hindsight, I can remember the Inquisitor just fine, but that's yet another card I haven't seen in a long time and rarely ever used myself.

RaptorWithWings posted a message on Twist Tips: Fast ForwardPosted in: NewsAs the Hearthpwn team’s self-proclaimed ambassador of underrepresented game modes, I SERIOUSLY apologize for having initial deck lists that don’t work. I built them knowing that Day 1 would be Legacy only, so I built Wild Decks in February where I picked Legacy in expansion selection and only used those cards. I didn’t know they were referring specifically to old fashioned “basic cards”. At the very least, the rest of the list should still be functional as a way to build up the archetypes I focused on even when they won’t be as strong on Day 1.
It would’ve been nice to have gotten any real details of this from Blizzard due to how a single paragraph makes it hard to plan an entire around guide around when not everything is made clear. I had to make “my best guess” when considering whether or not Galakrond’s Awakening or Caverns of Time were gonna be a part of it too.
Anyways, I hope this article helps, even if it’s just a little bit. I’d like to keep making things like this as a way to provide content for those who actually like these lesser played game mode (as my Duels Guide, my biggest contribution to Hearthpwn, gradually approaches obscurity). Even if there are some glaring flaws in this one, let me know if you’re a Twist player who might actually want more things like this.

This is such a bullshit. They said nothing about this when Twist or Caverns of Time was released (only said that CoT set would be usable in at least 3 months for Twist). This is yet another Activision-Blizzard rug pull like Overwatch 2 PvE mode.

Still more than 0 drops. Being available only for 1 day is a bigger problem, this could be easily done through the whole weekend.

Wow, Twist is dead already.
And the last use of the Mercenaries mode is also gone...

Yeah yeah employees got fired because of not balancing an inherently imbalanced format /sarcasm

Elemental Destruction buff! Kappa

Good but dated joke, Warsong Commander is unnerfed and Patron warrior kicks ass, at least in Twist.

I agree, it was kind of a knee-jerk reaction from me. This isn't the same balance approach back in 2016-2018 when they had fewer balance patches and they almost always had some basic/classic cards nerfed in them to open up "design space". Some of those nerfs ended up destroying the whole class with them like Fiery War Axe, Wild Growth. This post reminded me of those dark times.

Of course Blizzard prefers killing old Core cards instead of balancing the new overpowered cards.

From the latest patch notes. It is quite unacceptable to block some devices without proper warning, but again it's Activision Blizzard.

Yeah, game's size is bloating up but we have to put up with it. If only we could disable old single-player content, golden animations etc to free up space.
I don't think any new player would download 8+ GB for a damn card game on mobile.
