Problem is it doesnt help the meta right now, and alot of people think the wrong way when it comes to nerfs a nerf should never be about killing a deck it should be about tuning it to allow for a wider meta. For example nerfing Brood Queen from 2/5 to 2/4 wouldn't kill the deck but would make it slightly easier to contest it.
There are ways to tune without killing something and I do think they need to do some of that for this metas sake because right now the meta will be like Zerg DH and Druid.

Suikiele posted a message on 31.4.2 Patch Notes - Constructed Balance Changes, Battlegrounds Updates & Bug FixesPosted in: NewsAgreed, "Once Per Game" is healthy for design.
I'd argue that "... but not less than (1)" on mana reduction cards (with VERY few exceptions) is also something healthy for the game, but they've made it clear they are okay printing cards that people are playing for free and then they act surprised when that causes problems.

Reviewer posted a message on New Ranked Season - February 2025 & Card Back - No Esports Until March!Posted in: NewsUntil you bring back open cups, you can't really call it inclusive esports. If people have to grind ladder each month (a miserable experience according to top players who do it - see meati and more), and that's the only way to qualify, you're missing out on many skilled players that do not have the same time. Why were open cups great?
1. Usually weekends, allowing people to have a hobby out if work and do well in it.
2. Conquest format, same as the actual tournaments they are hosting. Not the best 1 deck bo1 grinder, but people who managed to master multiple decks.
3. Less play required to qualify, allowing people with less resilience or less free time to qualify
Without cups, I don't feel like HS is an esport anymore.

lv426a11 posted a message on Thoughts on Mini-Expansion?Posted in: General DiscussionI think point 1 is the real downside. Only time will tell if this mini-set becomes the true meta, but if it does, pretty much half of every deck will be identical because there's no point going "half-in".
Imo this is the worst approach to card design and leads to either:
a) all the cards being used (because its top tier), or b) none of the cards being used (because its trash tier).
I say this knowing that it's difficult to design new, interesting, and balanced cards. The "forced synergy" is arguably a lazy way of ensuring that balance is more controllable as future sets are released

Screwjank posted a message on 31.4 Patch Notes - Mini-Set, Kerrigan Mythic Skin, Balance Changes, In-Game Event, Game Updates & MorePosted in: NewsI love how Twist is seemingly being shelved just as quickly as it was introduced. "Here's a repeat season followed by another hiatus. We'll update you all later." Just admit you killed Duels for no reason and your replacement failed because of no actual effort. The season with the prebuilt decks for Legendaries was so fun but we haven't seen anything like it since. But hey, at least we have 1 game board a year now and 2 ultra premium Ragnaros skins.

did you actually play during FF? It was notorious for being one of the worst metagames in HS history. The 2 most common decks were jade druid and big priest. You'd literally face one of those 2 decks in 60% of games for 4 months straight. Neither of those decks ever got nerfed either. At least one saving grace today is that blizz releases a balance patch at least every month.

Nekkro2 posted a message on New Protoss Legendary Card Revealed - ArtanisPosted in: NewsIt is the same thing, but the difference is that in those cases you have little packages that are like support for a bigger deck. Like with Jade for example, if you want to play Jade, you have 3 Jade cards, that's a total of 6 you can't make a deck that is just Jade and nothing else.
But I think that with the factions you have enough cards to make a consistent deck that is always going to be the same, with a few utility and support cards. But the biggest difference to me, is that if I'm playing Jades, I could build the rest of my deck to have synergy with Jades. But Protoss only care about Protoss, so is like half of my deck does one thing, and the other half is just fillers.
Which is not necessarely a bad design. I don't say is bad. I said that from a person that enjoys making decks, is a lot less interesting that what I imagine when it was announced, that was cool references, with more universal cards that has some kind of synergy with the previous set, because I missunderstood this was going to be a The Great Dark Beyond mini-set with an starcraft Crossover. But it actually is an independent Starcraft mini-set, that's why dosn't even shares the same emblem that the previous set as all Mini-Sets do.

You're 11-2, you'll be only matched with another player with 11 wins. Afaik that's why it is taking so long. Maybe try playing at peak hours of your time zone?
(Grats on 11 wins btw)

Is anyone else's game update taking unusually long? Mine is stuck at "Initializing".
Edit: Finally finished after 30+ minutes update time.

That 17000 people include Activision, Blizzard and King. Probably more people work on Call of Duty franchise than the whole Blizzard itself.

Probably one of the worst patch notes across the whole HS's history. Duels removal, heroic scam brawl, more ways to spend money for whales, making quests harder... on top of a very small nerf to a super-imbalanced meta. At least Twist will return in June (!).

Why is it down? Someone at Blizzard realized that no free fun is allowed in this game?

Drops didn't start yet, is the ancient nonsense Daylight Savings Time change strikes again?
Edit: In the new patch notes starting time changed to 10:00 a.m. (PDT). So yeah, 1 hour later.
It will also go for 24h, so everyone can get the rewards at their prime time.
Tip: If you're watching the streams at Chrome, you can use this extension to get the rewards automatically. You can also mute the Twitch tab (not the stream) to go full afk.

Wow, locking a new card (Corridor Sleeper) to a pre-order. That's a new low for cash grabs in HS.

Me because of the Twitch drops, i'm such a sucker for freebies.
