Call this what you want, but I have a curse when it comes to RNG in this game. I'm not losing my mind, this is for real.

In all of my 3 years playing this game I actually cannot recall getting "the nuts." At the very best I get mediocre hands. I'm not saying this happens every single time, but this happens so much I cannot stress this enough.

Meanwhile, my opponent always has the nuts. Every single game is a struggle, honestly. I have actually broke down in tears at how unlucky I can be, it us really soul crushing, and everytime I get so close to winning my opponent mounts the most epic come back. This happens no matter which format I'm in..I just cannot ladder up not because I'm bad I don't think I'm great at spotting certain things but I know enough and I try my hardest...

Arena is really weird for me. If I draft a really good deck, I do poorly because my opponent just gets the nuts, and when I draft at least a mediocre deck it does surprisingly well.

TD;LR I have literally the worst luck imaginable when it comes to this game. I'm sorry I said alot but I just had to get this off my chest. Maybe it'll make me feel better if some of you share my experience...but least to say I think it's time I hung up my hat on this game. My luck has officially run out.

Have you tried using mulligan guides? HSReplay premium is good as you can check the WR of cards with and without the coin and against each class at specific ranks.

Due to how linear Hearthstone is most game will be won and lost in the mulligan. You will probably be surprised by which cards should be kept or tossed.

If you follow a good guide for a strong deck there’s no reason you won’t climb.

The illusion of strategy was removed with the creation of ZTG.

I don’t care about your conspiracies. Crack on and moan about being bad at the simplest card game on the market in your own time, Darksun200 seemed to want advice.

ZTG is also an awful example, it’s the single most skill intensive card in the game.

And I don't care about your fantasies of skill still being a part of this game. If you want to believe more power to you. I'm not one to go around telling kids in line to see Santa that it's just a guy in a suit.

Oops! I hope I didn't ruin that for you as well!

Skill?  In Hearthstone?  Maybe in Bronze it has something to do with game outcomes, sometimes.  But once you get to anywhere near Platinum or especially Diamond..... it is 100% purely based on matchup and draw luck.  The decks are too cancerous and brain-dead at those levels.  There are NO misplays.  You cant misplay when you dont  get the fucking cards you need.  Or your opponent barfs their hand on board with 40/40 worth of stats every turn.  Its way too polarizing.  I should know.  Im "stuck" at the D2/D3 level because I refuse to play cancer decks. so, I win the good matchups and always lose the bad ones.

Skill my ass.  People just say that top make themselves feel better and to remove guilt about getting legend with totally broken and brain-dead decks.  Please.  We're not fooled there, big champ.  Idiots.

You’re bad at the simplest card game out there and you’re making up excuses for why. Grow up.

You go from talking about the most skill intensive cards to describing it as the simplest card game out there. Nice flip flop.

Those two things are not contradictory. Regardless of the skill level of the game there will always be a card which has a higher skill cap.

I can see why you having so much trouble understanding how RNG works.

Apparently you have no understanding of probability. If you did you wouldn't be talking about anything being random in this game. Even if you have never had a single class all it takes is casual observance to recognize that the entire game defies probability. I get that you really want to believe that you are good at something and if that helps you get through the day then I say run with it. Just don't come here trying to sell your delusion.

Nah you’re completely wrong again, sorry. I’m not good at Hearthstone. I was a bog standard Diamond 5 meme deck player, I no longer play the game because I recognised that it wasn’t enjoyable to me due to many factors, the heavy reliance on curving out and RNG being a couple of the problems.

If you genuinely believe what you claim then the fact you still play the game speaks volumes of you as a person. Seriously just find a new hobby.

You are here posting about a game you no longer play and I need to find a new hobby? Seriously brah.

Made it to Diamond 5 and decided to try some of the flavor of the month decks. Go to Hearthstone Top Decks and see that face hunter is the latest cancer deck. OK. Copy, paste, play. Lose 9 in a row then win one, lose one. Perfect counter deck after perfect counter deck.

Let's try deathrattle demon hunter. Lose 8 out of 9. All perfect counter decks.

Tell me more about the randomness of Hearthstone.

Of course there are plenty of opportunites to misplay tier 1 or tier 2 decks. I know, because I regularly make them. And everyone who's being honest and perceptive will do too. That's even the reason I don't bother to climb further than Diamond 5. I know I'm not skilled enough to do the legend climb fast (at least not consistently), so it would be a long, painful grind. Of course you can have good or bad luck over a short period, but a good player will get a winrate above 60% with a deck that the average player gets 57% wins out of, while a bad player might even struggle to get way above 50%. And you notice the difference between those numbers? That means that a good player probably only wins about 1 out of 10 games more than a bad one. (Of course, this is a very rough estimate.) So yeah, a single game often won't be decided by skill on a visible scale. You have to look at larger numbers to see the difference.

I've played plenty of games where my opponent misplayed and where I have misplayed. The game adjusts. If you are scheduled to win you win. Short of conceding you can't change the predetermined outcome.

Hi!! I play Warlock!!! Did you play a creature?  I kill it.  Play a dozen more, I'll kill them all while healing from my 30 soul fragments  until I play my unstoppable deck rending combo which proves that no skill is required at all as long as you can pay to get the Legendaries you need

All I can say is try it. Play deck tracker when you do. It's fun to watch the game ignore 12 soul fragments out of 20 cards. Or better yet watch it pull a David Blaine and somehow manage to shuffle every soul fragment to the top of the deck while you still have full health. People bitch about Ticketus when they lose to it. 50% of the time it's buried in the last 5 cards. There are no cancer decks. There is only a system that reads the board, determines the best cards and effects, and chooses the best ones to hand the game to the predetermined winner thus maintaining Blizzard's stated goal of an overall 50% win rate.

You don't play Hearthstone. You watch it.

Why the hell do people play meta decks on bronze, silver and gold ranks? You can climb through there with some meme decks while actually having fun, goofing around with stuff and then switch to top tier decks later, when you reach Diamond or high Platinum. You can literally lose 3 out of 4 games and still climb when you have a decent star bonus. Why do I have to play against Face Hunters, Control Warlocks and OTK DHs on Gold 9? I will see enough of them on Diamond. Is no one interested in deckbuilding, playing some rarely used cards? I don't wanna always play casual to actually have some fun in the game.

Third Face Hunter in a row. Now I feel an itch to play Libram Pally and wipe the floor with those suckers.

Doesn't matter what deck you have or how bad your opponent plays. If the game decides it is your turn to win you will win. If it's your turn to lose there is literally nothing you can do. Short of conceding the game decides everything.

I don't get the auto squelch complaint. It's 2 clicks. I spend half the game waiting for people to play a card. Plenty of time to squelch.

First of the month rigging is the best kind of rigging.

EVERY SINGLE OPPONENT TODAY IS A DIRECT COUNTER TO ANY DECK I PLAY.

Thank you Blizzard. I should know better than to play the first day of the month. All the mouth breathers and power gamers come back down from wherever they usually reside and make the ladder an absolute cesspool.

You could not hand pick cards any better than the AI system currently does. Eventually I think they will tweak it to give the appearance of randomness but until then it's perfect card after perfect card. Had they not pulled back the curtain with ZTG we'd still have fan boys on here swearing that it would be impossible for Blizzard to program something that reads the board and chooses the best card. Funny how they disappeared the moment that ZTG was released.

I know that there are a ton of players that really want to believe that the game is legit. That every aspect of the game is not predetermined and that RNG effects are actually random. Unfortunately all it takes is casual observance and a completely basic understanding of probability to recognize that this is not the case. So many people here point out that you win 5 games, then you lose 5 games. Plus the games are all the same. When it is my turn to lose I often  face the same deck 3 games in a row. With the same opening hands. As I have said the AI that they use to script the game isn't subtle. It chooses the best cards, the best counters (Oh My Yogg is a perfect example of how the game can pick winners and losers), and hands players perfect lethal. If you win in 5 rounds it isn't because you are awesome. You have to draw perfect cards on curve to do 30+ damage in 5 rounds.

The game is a sad shell of its former self. Thought and strategy have been removed in order to attract new players and keep them playing. When they copy a net deck and draw perfect cards on curve, the Dopamine hits and the noobs keep playing longer and (Blizzard hopes) eventually spend real money to get enough dust to make the next flavor of the week net deck promoted by the streamers. Blizzard has a stated goal of an overall 50% win rate. No one should be surprised that they manipulate the game to achieve their stated goal. Nor should anyone be surprised that they dumbed the game down once the general consensus became that new players found the game too intimidating and that they thought they couldn't compete with long term players that had more cards/dust/gold. They can't make money on veteran players that pay for everything with gold and have stockpiles of dust. So they took a once great game and turned it into a mindless activity that runs on autopilot.

Tickatus is sooooo fun to play against... YOu play something else than aggro, then my friend you are fucked. Enjoyed the gameplay?

Try playing it. You either get perfect draws on curve or every key card is buried. Every game is a mindless win or a mindless loss. No in between. Blizzard removed thought and strategy from this game ages ago.

When was the last time you played a mage that didn't have Primordial Studies or Font of Power in their opening hand?

How about a priest that didn't have Palm Reading on turn 3?

Here's a fun exercise. Take a deck of 30 cards. Take one card out and add two jokers. Shuffle them well and deal yourself the top 2 cards. See how many times the jokers are the top 2 cards. Now ask me how many times when I play control warlock and open with Spirit Jailer I draw the 2 soul fragments that I just shuffled in the deck on round 2.

    You gotta love manipulated RNG.

If you mulligan aggressively for one card, the probability you have it in your hand T1 (including the first card you draw) is 41% on the play, 51% on the coin. If you mulligan aggressively for one of TWO cards (like the mage example you cite), the probability you have ANY ONE of them after drawing your first card is 77% on the coin and 67% on the play.

Blizzard isn't screwing you, that's just probability.

Curious that you didn't run the math on the two soul fragments being the first two cards drawn on round two after leading with a Spirit Jailer...
