While I agree that sometimes the moderators are a little bit thread-close-happy (not a big deal, don't ban me please! haha), these rigged RNG posts are just annoying.  It's ridiculous to think it is truly rigged.  I made it to rank 3 which is the highest rank I've made in a long time.  I haven't spent money since pre-ordering K&C, and I've always maxed out at about rank 6-7 previously (I know, the increase is due to ranked change).  I can tel I'm getting better.  Even still, after making a play, I still sometimes have that "d'oh" moment where I realize I misplayed and I hopefully learn from it.

Why would Blizzard like my opponent any more than me?  Why would they like me more than my opponent when I win?  It just doesn't make sense, from a game standpoint or a business standpoint. Quit using your confirmation bias to assume there's rigging going on.

So you give an example of how you feel that the game isn't rigged because you personally haven't felt that it has affected you and then accuse me of confirmation bias. To quote Inigo Montoya from the Princess Bride, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

posted a message on Banned from Blizzard Forums for talking about rigged RNG

So I had gotten suspended before for telling a moderator that all he was doing by locking threads that were about rigged RNG was making it look like there was something to it because they didn't want us talking about it.  Got me a month suspension and the threat of permanent ban if I continued to discuss it.

So once I was reinstated I made a point of keeping my posts very professional and stuck to topics regarding statistics and probability. Apparently the moderator felt that this was enough to warrant a ban. They won't tell me for how long or even why I was banned. When I press for answers they send an automated response saying that this web ticket is considered closed and no further communications will be looked at.

Anyone that knows anything about probability and statistics knows that the game is anything but random. Part of the RNG like guaranteed rares or better in every pack or so many rares or better in arena are not disputed. So the RNG manipulation is a hard fact. The only question is the degree of manipulation.

Blizzard is a business and it is totally within their right to rig the game towards one player or another. This accomplishes several things. It causes new players to continue to play because even poor players can win if they win the "RNG coin toss" that happens at the start of every game. New players win, are happy, keep playing.

The second thing it does is cause a level of frustration that makes players want to buy more cards. Getting a beat down by a player that has better cards makes you want those cards.

The third thing that it does is maintain the stated goal of an overall 50% win rate for the game. Pro streamers are of course permanently removed from the Blizzard matchmaking system so their win rates will be higher. Anyone that has watch Kripp draft an arena deck knows that his account is not treated the same way as a common customer's. Try one of Trump's 85% win rate decks and you will find that for you it is a 50% win rate deck.

Again I am not saying that it isn't a fun game. It is. Hearthstone is fun in the way that pro wrestling is entertaining - everyone knows that the outcomes are predetermined but they watch anyway. Before I get the standard "L2P" and "Get gud" from the players I call "true believers" that despite hard evidence to the contrary want to believe that Hearthstone is indeed a truly random game, I have all gold heroes except for Priest and Rogue, and I typically end up around rank 8 each month (currently 7). I do know how to play.

Enjoy the game as I do - taken for what it is.
