Wasn't the whole advantage with this mode, that no matter how shitty one season is, it's only one month? Just pull some random cards out of a hat while you do your real "testing". What do they need to disable the mode for anyway? Is the miniscule twist player base eating the server? :p

xskarma posted a message on New Hearthstone Expansion: Showdown in the Badlands - Releases Nov 14th!Posted in: NewsThe expansions starting with Festival of Legends in March came first 1 week earlier and then further earlier, up to this expansion launching Mid Nov instead of the first week of Dec. They purposefully worked all year to get this expansion out earlier to this degree.
But we don't know why.
My personal belief is that they simply wanted to start bringing out the Dec release earlier, to prevent it coming after many people in the world, but especially the US, have started shopping for the holidays. This expansion will now launch some 10 days before Black Friday, instead of the same period after it. I personally think that is the reason we saw this shift this year, and I suspect we may see a similar shift being applied next year, to make sure the last expansion of the year falls in a period where more people are inclined to spend on it.
In the end we don't really know though. For all we know Blizz announces at Blizzcon that they are going to go to a new cadence of releases and the shift has been to work towards that. We may never get an answer.

DatMageDoe posted a message on Official Teaser For Next Expansion!Posted in: NewsSo we're getting Wild West Hearthstone. As I said before, this sounds cool and I'd love to see where they go with it.
I'm predicting we'll see a block of cards which I'll dub the "Duelists," minions whose Battlecry is to attack an enemy minion, and if it dies, do something.

Maevis posted a message on 27.4 Patch Notes - Fall of Ulduar Mini-Set, Modes Updates, New Legendary C'Thun Skin & More!Posted in: NewsHonestly, I think this would have been the perfect time to introduce the first Neutral skin. Any class could be C'Thun.
THIS! I would have loved to see this as an idea. The idea of the C'thun's influence being prevalent enough to overtake any hero in the game is super cool.

Dargor posted a message on 27.4 Patch Notes - Fall of Ulduar Mini-Set, Modes Updates, New Legendary C'Thun Skin & More!Posted in: NewsWell, I guess because C'Thun druid is probably the most succesful C'Thun deck of them all if you look at Wild. But yeah when you go into a game and you see C'Thun, you would never think it would be a Druid. Imagine the shock on new players. "Why does this warlock keep hitting me in the face?"

xskarma posted a message on 27.4 Patch Notes - Fall of Ulduar Mini-Set, Modes Updates, New Legendary C'Thun Skin & More!Posted in: NewsThat C'thun skin is nice and all, but DRUID?!
I'm not usually going to moan much about lore implications and such, but C'thun being a DRUID is an abomination. What the hell do the HIPPIE TREE HUGGING NATURE LOVING DRUIDS have in common with C'thun? That is an utter ass pull based on the vague notion that C'thun was not terrible in Druid in OG Whispers of the Old Gods.
This should have been a Priest skin. You know, the shadow magic class?
And for everyone's enlightenment that doesn't play WoW: The Nigth Elves, which is the Sentinels and Druids mostly, fought AGAINST C'thun in Silithus for years. So this makes absolutely NO sense.

Pacific_Onion posted a message on Shiftcon West is This Week's Tavern BrawlPosted in: NewsI hope the next time we get this brawl cards like Zerus & Shifting Scroll transform the turn you draw them like remixed/unidentified cards. This change is long overdue, especially since they released 3 new cards with this mechanic just a couple weeks ago.

Twitchy posted a message on Caverns of Time - Card Changes & New CardsPosted in: NewsWould be interesting to just straight up give everyone 40 health in wild. 30 just isn't enough anymore, so many games ending on turn 3-5.

Yeah. The event portals are in [easily accessible] major hub areas of the game. You can jump right in; although you may want to level up toward 20.

Yeah, it adds up close enough. 50 XP per day gives 700 XP + 2700 XP for quests. I've only played about 5-10 games (or 2 hours) a day, so ~300 XP expected (sometimes get less than 5XP a game). Total ~3700XP.
I'll pray today gives me 100 XP and hope I can play a few more games.
1
5 days!?
In five days, the quests only give you up to 2000 XP, and the remainder would have you play 200-400 games (averaging about 50 hours); that's crazy!
(Not too difficult, eh? I wish I could play games all day, every day.)
1
Since this event opened, I have completed every quest (and daily) and I only have 3532 XP.
For some reason, for this event, they changed the daily quest XP rewards from 100 XP to 50 XP, and each match only gives 2-10 XP. With only one day left, this is feeling just out of reach.
Is anyone else having a problem for this event?

Yeah, it really doesn't make sense why they would want to disable the mode at all.
They have so many options, and they choose to disable it!?
Even if they can't come up and add in new rules each month, they can still choose to: revert it back to classic for a month, keep it as is, recycle previous formats, etc.

I really wish they would adopt a new expansion model to help curve powercreep. Other games handle this well.
A simple solution would be to have yearly Standard cycles instead of biyearly. Release a larger expansion at the start of the year, then release smaller and smaller sets as the year comes to an end. (That way fewer cards have less play-time in Standard.)
1
Before, they used to release during specific months. Now, it looks like they are releasing expansions every 16-17 weeks instead. So every year there will be about two weeks left-over; this means that expansions will begin to rotate and release two weeks earlier each year. And we're now starting to see those effects.

Yeah, I can definitely see us getting a new Joust-like effect for a western-style duel.
It would be funny to see a new keyword called Draw, but probably not.

Honestly, I think this would have been the perfect time to introduce the first Neutral skin. Any class could be C'Thun.

Then how will I ever get the chance to play my 1-Mana 1/1 Shifter Zerus?
His presence on the board leaves opponents completely baffled.
