Just hit Legend for the first time today!  Previous best was rank 2.  Got to my final boss 2 nights ago and promptly went on a losing streak.  Fought my way back to 2 stars away and got hit with another losing streak that took me down to Diamond 3.  But today I managed to win 7 of 8 and claim my spot in the legend ranks!  I am pumped.  The best part is that I took down 4 consecutive Warlocks with my DH, including the final boss.

This deck absolutely REKT my DH list last night.  The face damage is absolutely ridiculous.  If you draw well and curve out, can easily do 40 damage by turn 5 or 6.

Climbed to Diamond 1 3-stars last night laddering with DH.  I know, I'm the cancer but w/e I like the class and I knew I could craft all the DH cards because nerfs were gonna hit, it just happens to still be strong after the nerfs so I'm still playing it.

Anyway. Had my final boss on the ropes by turn 6.  Was feeling myself, about to hit legend for the first time.  He then went on to topdeck board clears 3 turns in a row and win the game.  I was then greeted by 2 matchups against warlocks who ruined me and then a DH mirror where the guy topdecked Skull of Gul'dan into Altruis the Outcast shenanigans to clear my board and then topdecked Metamorphosis for exact lethal the following turn.  Then I went up against a face hunter deck who drew perfectly and did 40 damage to me in 5 turns.  Before you know I've gone from from the precipice of hitting legend to being 6 stars away, mostly because of perfect top decks every game.

How did I know that this game wouldn't let me hit legend my first try?  How did I know that, no matter how close I was, the game would screw me and I'd immediately go on a losing streak afterward.  I was just cruising along with a 65% win rate all the way to diamond 1 and now suddenly I'm winning 45% and going nowhere.....WTF!!!?

[Edit: Currently Diamond 1, 1 star after a nice little win streak.  3 wins to go.  Let's see if I can get there in 20 games.]

Play a total agro smasher deck and you won't get quite so many agro opponents because that would make things very lopsided.

There's gotta be something to this.  I remember way back when secret paladin was the top braindead deck on the ladder.  I faced off against like 5 secret paladins in a row with a 1-4 record.  I got so frustrated that I created a hunter deck with double Flare and double Eater of Secrets.  I queued up with that deck 10 times and didn't play against a single secret paladin.  So I figured, eh, maybe there aren't as many of them as I thought.  Switched back to my main ladder deck.  Boom 3 secret paladins in a row again and lost 2 out of 3.  So, all told, I played like 19 games that night.  10 with a secret paladin destroyer deck and 9 with my regular deck.  In 8 of the 9 matches I played with my normal deck, I played against secret paladin.  But when I switched to a deck with secret destroying tech, I played 0 secret paladins in 10 games.  That just CAN'T be random.

posted a message on Will Blizz change Sacrifical Pact?

Here's the thing about Sacrificial Pact.  The tempo swings that are available because of it are WAY too powerful.  It's not like the DH can just sit around and NOT play demons because their class was designed around demons and many of their strongest cards are demons.  So, as a Warlock, you just sit on the card until the DH FINALLY plays a powerful demon and then WHAM! you win the game by playing a single card.  And yes, you literally do just win the game if you manage to hit a Priestess of Fury with it.  It's the absolute definition of unfun and non-interactive and, as of now, no warlock should ever lose to a DH.  What makes it even worse is that, thanks to Zephrys, you often run into this card even when you're NOT playing against a Warlock.  I've been laddering with DH and I would gladly trade a 2nd round of nerfs for not having to deal with this card.  It would make things a little more fair for the hunters, rogues, shaman and mages out there while making Warlocks actually have to work for victories instead of just getting auto wins against DH.

And for those who say that DH just crushes everything besides Warlock, not exactly true.  Embiggen Druid and Rez Priest fight back quite nicely.

I shit on DH with no minion mage. Its hilarious actually

I've played 5 games against no minion mage with my DH list.  I'm 3-2.  I guarantee you're not "shitting on" any tempo DH that curves out.

In spite of the fact that DH started off completely busted and is still just a bit overtuned even after the nerfs, it's still a fun class to play.  The curve and synergy of the main class staples feel really good.  I play midrange/tempo DH and if I curve Battlefiend, Umberwing, Satyr Overseer, Raging Felscreamer, Priestess of Fury (which happens like once every 5-6 games) it feels completely unstoppable.  Couple that with the flexibility of a card like Twin Slice and a 1 mana hero power that you can toss in any time your curve doesn't line up perfectly and the class just feels really smooth and polished.

I'm definitely glad that Blizzard nerfed the class and it probably still needs a couple more tweaks, but I really like the flavor and play style.

    Quote from Pacific_Onion >>

Day 2 and the Outcast mechanic is already something decks are trying to avoid proccing because of Skull/Eye Beam interaction. I wonder if they intend for Outcast to be a negative effect on some cards, they could make it a powerful card, but the outcast makes it bad to play after a topdeck, or if you hold onto it too long.

It's quite obvious that the interaction between skull and eye beam is an unintended consequence of the nerf and the way the cost is calculated in game (which cost modification takes precedence).  That said, there could be room in the design space for Blizzard to print DH cards where outcast is a drawback.  I just don't think they will.

Eye Beam is not a glaring issue and it never will be. The card states "outcast: this costs (1)". So obviously it should cost one when it is on the left or right. The druid legendary does the same thing. It makes Innervate cost 1. If you can't deal with a little anti synergy between two cards in the deck, then don't use them. It is still a full mana cheaper than Penance. So yeah you describing it as a glaring issue is kind of odd. I can only imagine you say that for the eye pun XD

Being able to kill jarraxus with sac pact is just stupid and ruins a class legendary, so at least I agree with you on that.

I'm sorry but the interaction between Skull of Gul'dan and Eye Beam is definitely an oversight by Blizzard.  I can guarantee you with 100% certainty that they did not intend for it to cost MORE.  Additionally, the interaction isn't "obvious" as you claim because, while you are correct that it does indeed say "Outcast: This costs 1" its cost has already been reduced to 0 and that should take priority.  In other words, the cost calculation should be as follows.  Base cost = 3, Outcast = Base cost -2, Skull of Gul'dan = Base cost -3.  Instead, Blizzard took a lazy coding route so that Outcast cast is always 1.  As has frequently been the case throughout the history of Hearthstone, we the players are required to suffer Blizzard's complete and utter lack of testing.  Seriously, if you ran a video game development company wouldn't you just play test your fix for 5 minutes before you make it live?

After climbing from Bronze 10 to Diamond 5 (i played Dragon and Resurrect Priest) and playing 80% of the time against DH the new class seems just way too broken and extremly straight forward... the Class seems to be a Aggro/Tempo and Control deck at the same time with all the removal/face damage and the by far strongest card draw ! most of the DH´s i played against died because of fatigue while i had 10-/+ cards left.

i don´t understand how Blizzard thought printing so many broken cards for just one Class was fine...

What are ur expieriences so far with the new Class? This is not a rant i´m just curious about different opinions

So, let me get this straight.  You climbed from Bronze 10....to Diamond 5....in 2 days....with most of your matches ending in fatigue?

Fatigue matches of HS usually take about 20 minutes.  Now, DH draws their deck insanely fast so let's say fatigue matches against DH only take 12 minutes.  Allowing for the fact that not all of your games will end in fatigue, I would say your average game length probably sits around 9 minutes.

To get from Bronze 10 to Diamond 5 I'm guessing you had to win around 60 games.  Assuming a 75% win rate (which is insanely good) you would have to have played 80 games over the past 2 days.  80 games at 9 minutes a piece comes to 720 minutes which is 12 hours.

Dear god man are you playing 6 hours of HS a day?  Go outside FFS.  I mean, I know you're probably sheltering in place but...exercise maybe?

I call BS.  If you have 4 mana and your opponent has 6 health, Zephrys the Great will ALWAYS offer you Fireball.

    Agreed.

Sacrificial Pact is way too powerful of a removal tool now that classes aside from Warlock are running demons.  When it was just Warlocks who had demons then at least it was fair as both players could make room for it in their deck if they wanted to.  But knowing that your big 7 drop can be killed without tempo loss and with bonus healing makes it virtually impossible to risk playing it.  Not fun, not interactive, time for a change 100%.

Change Eye Beam to read:  Outcast: This costs 2 less.  That way a free eye beam won't suddenly cost 1 when you play the card next to it.  This unexpected interaction cost me a game against Embiggen Druid last night as I was 1 mana short of being able to kill one of those 4/8 taunts.

posted a message on Matchmaking no sense

Matchmaking is based on MMR.  MMR is hidden and is based more off of win/loss rate than how high on the ladder somebody has climbed.  If somebody has enough time on their hands, they can reach legend with a 50% win rate so it's virtually meaningless.

I like them all except for the Antaen. I'm very skeptical whether or not that will be detrimental enough. The cost isn't the problem. It's the shear amount of random 10 damage and leaving a 10/6 body on the board.

But you get one more turn to either pressure the DH or dig for answers or maybe just heal up before the card comes down.
