Thank you Blizzard for continually making this game as stable and reliable as you can. Thank you for coming into work at 6am to fix the servers so they can continue to work and function optimally.

DreamCrusher11 posted a message on Bring Out Your WalletsPosted in: General DiscussionThis is far-fetched, OP. It's a big stretch to presume that Hearthstone is struggling for cashflow. The game is enormously popular, worldwide. I realize that it's possible to be a truly "free to play" player, but even the most miserly players still spend at least SOME money on packs or Arenas occassionally. A couple dollars here or there X millions of accounts = plenty of money.
The game's developers are mainly interested in maintaining competitive balance and ensuring a diverse meta. When the meta is diverse, people are generally happier and far less likely to complain that they are "getting screwed" by a specific decklist/class. If the game stays diverse and interesting, people will play. When people play, they will spend money (a lot or a little, depending on the person). Hearthstone has become so huge that in-game purchases may eventually no longer be the main source of income for the game. If the tournament scene continues to grow (likely), then sponsorships and advertising at events will bring big revenues.

JohanRamone posted a message on Lucky(?) Pack QuestionPosted in: Card DiscussionMy friend I know this feeling well. King Krush was my first lgdry and I held onto him forever until I got a 2nd one. Then I pulled Millhouse and to this day I kinda regret dusting him on the spot cuz something tells me a coming set might make him playable (like something that turns off the Battlecry for minions in your hand?) but most likely he'll always be a risky 4/4 with a dangerous drawback.
As for your lgdrys, unless you're making a pirate deck, Randuin, or trying to complete the set I'd suggest dusting them once you have enough to get a key lgdry like Syl, Rag, or whatever class lgdry you know you will play the most. Something that will help one or more of your most played decks is infinitely better than 2 cards you'll never play.

Tahladnas posted a message on Need to make a "sincere" set of emotes to be usedPosted in: General DiscussionQuote from Baron_Von_Teapot »What emotes really need is a honest to goodness F*** YOU type emote. The problem with nerfing all emotes is that even the supposedly good emotes get twisted, it's like "there can be no good if there is no evil" http://oregonstate.edu/instruct/phl201/modules/Philosophers/Augustine/augustine_evil.html.
So what we really need is an evil emote, and then the good ones will really have meaning. "Threaten" emote right now is so weaksauce it doesn't do the job well enough.
I agree. The "threaten" emote definitely need some elements of female family members attached to it. I mean "i will be your death" sounds weak compared to "i will be your sister's prom date!". Or change "i will crush you!" to "i will crush your father's nuts!". Also being burnt by the light is childs' play compared to "hydrochloric acid shall burn your mom's face!"
If someone emoted "I will crush your father's nuts!" right after I killed their Undertaker, they would end up winning because I would have missed three or four turns before I was able to stop laughing.
You are a disappointing son. That's your father for heaven's sake!

kendallsg posted a message on Random Deck challengePosted in: General DiscussionI will preface this post with this: I like Hearthstone, enough to invest enough (both time and money) into the game that it seems kind of silly to stop playing it. I also think video games should be fun or challenging and preferably both. Also, I don't play arena, for whatever reason i just don't find it that compelling.
After over a year of playing HS, it's been a struggle at times to keep the game fun/interesting. The game was fun in beta... for awhile. After Naxx the game was fun... for a bit (heroic Naxx as really really fun, right? or something). Now even after GvG, it's kind of the same boring, but with different cards. Not that I don't love playing the same decks every season... errr "meta" (don't worry i'm sure mech mage will never go out of style, snooze).
I started out playing HS with 1 account and only played on NA. I bought a few packs during beta to get my Golden Gelbin and then got enough packs to get the complete card set. It was fun playing the all legendaries decks for awhile and being able to craft any deck I wanted. Decided to try my shot at getting to legend... got my card back and after awhile getting the orange octagon wasn't that big of a deal. The game got kind of stale.
I decided to start playing on the other servers, EU and Asia. Basically repeated everything I did on NA. Yay, I feel accomplished, I guess. After all that the game was getting kind of boring again. I'm not saying the game isn't challenging most of the time, i'm certainly not the best player in the world and i still make my fare share of misplays and such.
How to keep the game fresh? I realized that I've been playing on all 3 servers with P2W account. Let's create a F2P account and play on all 3 servers with that. I was surprised that I actually started having more fun. The game was certainly more challenging again and i was playing with cards i had all but forgotten about. It was like a brand new beginning. After a few months of questing I was able to complete all the wings of Naxx which certainly helps being more competitive with the account.
After finishing the Naxx heroics on my F2P accounts, i again felt kind of burnt out. What now? my F2P account will eventually just become like my P2W account as my card collection goes. What possible goals can i shoot for. All golden heroes? Maybe, already check on NA, maybe i could push forward on the other servers, but that takes awhile.
Random Deck Questing
Today I started to do something that actually ended up being fun, refreshing, and challenging. The challenge is to finish your daily quests by starting a new deck, having it autofill all 30 cards without looking and hit done, without looking. Go into Ranked play mode and go to work with your blind deck. Oddly enough, I was able to beat some pretty typical or well known decks like mech mage and mill druid with some pretty ridiculous decks of my own. Blizzard loves to give you nonsensical cards in your random decks, like Captain Greenskin in a Priest deck, or Mimiron's Head when you have no other mechs in the deck. It's basically like a blind area in constructed play. Also, you can't play the same deck twice, it's no fun if you know you have Deathwing in your deck after you just had an amazing top deck last game.
So I thought I'd share my challenge with you all. Some of you have probably already done this especially if you've been playing for awhile or gotten burnt out as well.
And for those of you who wonder why not just play arena if it's the same kind of thing. Well, ranked play is free and arena is still a constructed deck, you just get random cards to build it with. This way, it's complete random and you have no idea what's in the deck when you start the game.

Pathala posted a message on Mech Mage Season 10 Legend #31 NAPosted in: Mech Mage Season 10 Legend #31 NAThere wouldn't be a substitute for Antonidas because the whole point is to hold spare parts in synergy with him to create as many fireballs to help win you the game. This deck is also very aggressive so you could win before it reaches that point but honestly I wouldn't play it without him.
As far as loatheb if you have Troggzor he has the same role as loatheb,

Every time someone starts a redundant Mechmage thread, God kills a kitten. Think of the kittens.

Your revision is so unbelievably broken that when I opened it, he jumped off my computer screen and started smashing the windows in my house. That' how broken he is. He breaks everything around him, too. I don't remember the part of the WoW lore where Illidan ascended to godhood and started pimp slapping everyone. Must have missed that quest line.

I got a Mirror Entity to pop on someone's Deathwing one time. That was pretty cool. Got to keep my hand, too.

See, I thought this was an actual poll. I swear, in my dreams now every time someone speaks I just hear the words "mechmage is op" when their lips move.

I don't think it's that big an issue. You get the occasional asshole roping to mess with you, and occasionally someone who needs to use that time to consider their options. 90 seconds really isn't that long to wait. Hell, it takes longer than that to even microwave a burrito.

Came for the suggestive title, stayed because I'm pissed you keep drawing Legendaries and now I'm imagining Trade Prince stalking you and breaking into your house at night and shoving a coin down your throat.

Jarraxus is, in my entirely scientific estimation, 1.45 billion times more useful to you than Gahz. That giant lizard isn't gonna get you anywhere useful. I'd rather have a demonic overlord on my side than a big gecko. Blow up Gahz.

This thread gave me hepatitis.
But seriously, guys, if you're gonna turn a thread into a flame war, maybe do it in PM? Any chance of this discussion had of being an examination of the topic got totally hijacked here.
That and there's like a hundred Mech mage nerf threads already.

Oh, Antonidas. You silly bastard. Best crafting decision I've ever made.

That'd be sort of hard to do, since it'd be weird if, say, the Knife Juggler hit the board, the UTH dropped, and then suddenly some other stuff and had died. Seeing what does what to what I think is necessary to the game not becoming a nonsensical mess, and is indeed, half of why I'm playing this on a goddamn computer. That being said, maybe they animations could just a) be faster in general(that thing an earlier poster threw up about roping out because of slow animation proceedings is fucking stupid. That kind of shit shouldn't be happening) or b) speed up substantially after the rope hits. That little lightning bolt animation could be a hell of a lot faster, among others.
