On the first day, it is calm and quiet. The pillar is steadfast, retaining its size.
On the second winds howls. By a single unit, the pillar does rise.
The third day is a downpour. Two units more is the pillar's prize

If you consider that the single unit can be the size of the pillar on the first day, it can be Scaled Nightmare

The first day (it is played), it is steady at 2 attack

The second day, it growns by 2 (equal to initial attack, so 1 unit)

The third day, it growns by 4 (twice the initial attack, so 2 unitis)

    posted a message on R5 -> Legend // Time??

I have nerver reached legend, think I peaked on R2 some seasons. That sayed, here are my toughts on the game design:

    - Since January 2018, you are set back 4 ranks (20 stars) each month. That means that, not accounting for winstreaks, you are set back 20 stars.

    - You made the argument going form R5 zero stars, but you need not to perform the climb from R5 on the last day of the month. The way blizzard set up ladder last year it made it easyer for people to get closer to legend in a longer run than that. You have 30 days to win 21 stars, in order to start the next month ahead from where you started the previous one. With a 58% winrate, it should take you 126 games to advance, or 4,2 games a day (16,25 hours/month or a bit over half an hour a day).

    - It is still a fucking grind I do not intend to do myself, unless someday I am having a blast with a deck which is killing the meta and I am carried up by my own enjoyment. That said, IF you feel like going for legend, you should think of it as a multy-month endeavor. Being R8 on the 1st is AHEAD of being R5 on the 30th.

Tip mate: put the time you intend on doing on a UCT basis. I may watch if I´m online, but I´m in Brazil, it may be far from your time, depending on where on US you are.

Where are streaming? Twitch, YouTube, Facebook?

posted a message on The small pack...

1st: its not like Blizzard knows how much you have in your bank account. Its like Blizzard knows how many virtual assets you have on a private service provided by Amazon. Other services (Facebook, Google and even Amazon Itself) let people know how many friends you have and how much likes your posts have as sells to 3rd party data MUCH more personal, such as your preferences and browsing pattern. But that is not even relevant, since:

2nd: Amazon´s pricing structure and bundles are PUBLIC. Blizzard (and everyone else) knows that there are some bundles people use to get more value (coins) for money. Knowing that, Blizz can change its pricing stategy in order to fit those bundles. The fact that the Challangers Bundle has 17 packs, not an round number, like 15 or 20, indicates that the company fit however many packs they could in the price the had already settled, which was "whatever is in the wallet of someon who bought an Amazon Coin bundle last time".

This is, in fact, a strategy that BENEFITS HS costumers who do not use amazon coins for other purposes: you can buy one 10.000 coins and use it for a big and a small bundle in 2 consecutive expacks, instead of having them laying around your wallet forever.

posted a message on Fatigue mechanic

I think the turn limit is more of a safeguard on Bliazzards servers than a game feature. It may avoid or help to prevent things such as DNS attacks trough having a huge number of mockup games between robots to overflow the servers or prevent some silly things with overflowing turn counts of fatigue damage counts. Imagine two people who just let a Violet Illusionist each on board and go to sleep? It might cause a number of number-related problems.

From a design standpoint, the decision on what number of turns should the timer max out depends, in part, on how long should a Heartstone game take on average. It is a pretty casual-focused game and designers do not want games to take one hour, even if it depends on both players making a conscious decision of chosing a heavy control decks.

You could argue that the turn limit was set on a very early and different heartstone, with no absolute crazy cards such as Academic Espionage and Dead Man´s Hand, and should be increased. I have had some crazy games myself, but never reached turn limit. I can imagine it feels really bad, the lack of a closure...

Edit: just tought that every other fisical cardgame has some sort of build-in resource limit: in MTG at least, most cards with effects that put graveyards into library are exiled on use and there are VERY few cards which let you tutor from outside the game. In HS it may be possible to reach a point (ex: mirror DMH Warrior) where both players have more defensive than offensive tools and can avoid fatigue, thus making the game unwinnable: they would just keep adding armor for ever or until someone's internet provider screwed up (most likelly mine, since I live in Brazil).

posted a message on New Classic Cards
    Quote from Fluxflashor >>

I would like to see them after BlizzCon but before the new expansion to try and freshen things up.

Knowing how silly Blizzard has been with a lot of Hearthstone things though, they're probably just going to come out with the expansion and we'll suffer through another month of the same stuff.

Were the "Blizzcon Giveaway" events included on last patch? If not, this might mean we should see a patch between today and tomorrow morning, which could also add the new cards. They stated "early november" when they showed us them.

I don´t think they should have any impact in the game, especially in Wild, but I will give quest mage some runs after the new cards, even if its a strctly worst version of OTK mage w/ Thaurissan.

Edit: just checked, and the only giveaway mentioned on the patch notes is the Cauldron from earlier. Let´s see if a patch rolls latter today: https://playhearthstone.com/en-us/blog/22546493/update-12-2-october-2-hallow-s-end

The new cards are shit.  Open now asap to get mana wyrm dust.

This.  People keep saying "you don't know for sure they won't appear in a meta deck", but sometimes you just know.  The Boogeymonster in theory could find a place in a meta deck too, but this is reality, it won't.

Well Tome of Intellect might make it into quest mage, but I doubt it would make Quest mage into a meta deck...

Even if the cards are being used, it's a common card, 2 for 80 dust. Right now, you get better cards per pack, so open them as soon as possible. The crappy ones you will get soon enough.

Thats not necessarelly true for people with all the commons. ANY common I open now will be 20 dust (except Mana Wyrms). For me a Sorceress Aprendice and a Thrallmar Farseer are equally irrelevant.

posted a message on Classic Packs: when to open?
    Quote from Sabadass >>

I would lean towards holding onto the packs.  In the case of probability, you're looking to open 3 of 94 Common cards when the new cards get added in compared to 1 of 91 for the Mana Wyrm.  Either way, the odds are low.

You'll also have a 1 in 36 chance of getting the new Epic as well if you save your packs (whenever you unpack an Epic).

That would be my initial tought. The main argument against keeping the packs is that I play mainlly Wild and the three cards seem really underwelming in terms of power, so there is a possibility that none finds its way in any deck I will play, therefore, the (negligeble) amount of extra dust from a Mana Wyrm now would be a plus. Those other cards I will have plenty of tavern brawl and spelunker packs to open.

Anyways, I am inclined to hold to those packs and open them after the new cards. Was just wandering if there will be a "sweet spot" between the two events that will allow us to open new cards AND full dustable mana wyrms.
