Complains about meta and names 5 very unique decks haha. All while leaving out warrior, which I also seem to see a lot of (in low legend ranks).
One thing I like about this meta is every deck seems to play proactively. Of course, others may not like this as it gives that "solitaire" feel, but eh, I like knowing that I can create my own win condition regardless of how op or broken the opponent's deck is (because every deck is equally "broken" right now).
I think he was asking more "how do you know before the first turn is even played". Some people like to say "oh, they mulliganed all 3 (or 4) of their cards, they're obviously control", but really, it's still just a luck thing.
Most decks in today's meta, though, just rely on creating their own win condition regardless of what the opponent is playing (spell druid just needs ramp, any warrior just needs Skipper or Corsair Cache). If you're mulliganing to counter the opponent, as opposed to just furthering your own win condition, I think you're already a step behind your opponent.
Lots of confirmation bias showing up in this thread.
I do know that, two games in a row, the box made me cast Sprint twice. Mages already play with decent sized hands most of the time, soooo I burned a shit ton of my own cards haha. One of those times it even threw in the Skull of Gul'dan (so, yes, the box made me draw a whopping 11 cards). Playing on turn 5 or 6 has its risks too, because of this.
I know it sounds difficult to play around, but yeah, just play around it like a 10 mana Plague of Death. I'd say it's probably closer to 50/50 good vs bad, but yeah you should only ever use the card as an absolute last resort.
My guess is that each symbol doesn't mean anything. When you complete it with a class, another symbol lights up (so it doesn't matter if you beat it with mage or shaman first, the first symbol will light up). I could be wrong though.
Hopefully you find some luck with those last few decks. I think I remember winning with warrior using grim patrons and finishing with a huge Frothing Berserker? I imagine that could still work. Throw in Grom and some Gurubashi Berserkers maybe. Then most other classes I used murlocs haha. That was when Murloc Warleader still gave +2/+1 though.
I actually can't even remember what the hunter or paladin penalties against the death knight were. I think he resurrected Paladin units he killed? Definitely sounds like you need to smorc him with murlocs if that was the case.
It's astonishing how many people try to rain on parades in Hearthstone. I follow various other games on Reddit, and when people get platinum trophies, or hell even simply beat the game, everyone is so excited for them haha.
Congrats man. It is a grind for sure to hit legend, and you can definitely get in your own head when you're going for those last few stars. Now you can strive for higher legend! Or, just try to climb with other random decks haha.
I'm amazed you finished top 5 legend that one month with a 83-41 record. My highest finish was 800 legend, and my record that month was similar to that. I know I went from rank 5 to legend (in the old system) in 60 games, then continued to rake in legend, and I think the highest I hit was 742. I might need to track down my stats that month (as I use that decktracker program as well), but I remember thinking to myself "wow, winning 2/3 of my total games and I still can't even break top 500." I just assumed I didn't play enough games to grind to the very top, but now I just don't know haha.
It's probably mainly because I played wild and I assume you played on standard.
Ah yep that would be it exactly haha. So I do still have to quit my job if I want to strive for that top 10 standard finish I guess =P

I played highlander hunter all the way to legend (with 3 secrets - explosive trap ruins demon hunter). I hear dragon hunter is just a consistent version of highlander hunter, but I like the rush mechanics included in highlander. Not to mention Zephrys and Alexstrasza of course haha.
It's been a while since I've been truly surprised I guess. But man, I actually enjoy knowing what my opponent's deck is (and vice versa, to a point). At that point it's purely who can get more value out of their cards, knowing the answers your enemy may have.
Having said that, I've been playing a lot of very greedy "big druid" decks lately. Not really a top 5 deck or anywhere near, but I find it surprisingly more consistent than I would have thought haha.
I had my fun with Shadowjeweler Hanar, but I'm glad she was nerfed. Probably still needs a bit more honestly, but at least there are tech cards to play with.
I hit legend with Highlander Hunter, so I'm sad to see the Scavenger's Ingenuity nerf haha, but again, it was expected.
I've always wanted to make it work, but you're right that it isn't really used. Since it is golden, you could disenchant it and craft any legendary you wanted. Or you could try to make him work in maybe some spell druid deck? I'm sure he could try to fit in there, but then I guess Gift of the Wild is just better haha.
My vote: disenchant and craft what you want, and don't look back.

I think the only Shaman deck that works is one that uses Zayle, Shadow Cloak

Wow, the original poster here is... Something else hahah. People give him dumb answers to an easy question and he proceeds to absolutely shit on them.
Anyways, only warrior, priest, warlock, rogue, and shaman have Galakrond.

I've been playing bomb warrior. It feels good to get bombs going in those highlander decks haha.
