So, I've only been playing HS for like 3 months now. I haven't spent a cent on the game , and have managed to fight my way down to rank 24 in standard mode.
As for the Arena, well that hasn't been going well at all for me. I use the lightforge guide. Not for the entire deck i generally try to stick with for the first half or so, and then I try to balance out my mana and the deck in general to fit with what I've picked so far. I do pick the deck rather quickly.
How long do some of you better arena players take in choosing for decks, and are there any pointers you can give otherwise?
If you're consistently getting only one win and using a tier list, that probably means you aren't playing the deck well. It looks like you need to learn how to value trade better and get the most out of your deck. For example, playing the Microtech Controller on 3 and leaving up the Silver Hand Recruit let them trade their 1/1 into your 2/1. Instead, you could have played Spellslinger or traded with your 2/3 into the 1/1, both which leave you with more on board. Also not sure why you risked the 50/50 with the Flame Cannon. Again, trade into the Owl with your Gatekeeper to make sure you get more out of your cards.
This is an advice from adwcta, not me, one of the best arena players:
The best this is to find someone around your lvl and start playing together, giving each other tips and criticisms and improving each other’s play.
This one from me: As for what you can do on your own: use tier lists, watch some pro arena players game, learn when to trade and when to switch to all face, and especially most important- understand the archetype of the deck you made and how to properly play with it (i.e- control, midrange, aggro, aggro-control, tempo, etc). Not all decks have the same optimal gameplay.
Get Heartharena, it helps you drafting. I got a lot better at Arena by simply watching streamers (mainly Kripp), they usually explain their moves and what they are thinking, it is very interesting.
You are consistently going face as if you have some hidden plan to finish the opponent next turn. You are leaving the trading to him, allowing him to pick valuable trades, you are not considering the rng effects when you may minimize the low roll chance.
I don't want to call you a bad player, maybe that's the style that suits you well on ladder - where trading is usually not so important, but arena mostly consist of squeezing the last drop of juice from the resources you have. That is the clue. Next is playing around the potential punishing cards from your opponent class, but that can wait till you learn how to be greedy on board.
I recommend the YouTube series "Trump's Basic Teachings."
As others have hinted, you need to study the fundamentals of the game. Not just Arena, but Hearthstone in general.
Watch those even before you start watching streamers playing actual games. Once you understand the basics, you can watch experts playing and have a better grasp of why they are making the choices they make.

Actually , it did help I constructed using heartharena, and along with some other tips i managed to get 4 wins. but you were right, Its amamzing how much arena differs from ranked.
Heartharena is a better tool than Lightforge for players needing more guidance. Heartharena explains the choices and shows you the synergies as you draft, whereas lightforge tier list is strictly a list based on raw performance. And like the other guy said, why are you playing Microtech Controller in a board with a 1/1 when you have other options? Arena is Hearthstone at it's basics: learn to value trade and control the board above all else and usually you'll be all right.

I checked the replay - hearth arena won't help...
