From Magic, Yugioh, Pokemon, or whatever your card game of choice. Lets get to know each other! Post your game and what decks you played.
Never played Pokemon myself, but I was a tournament Yugioh/Magic player waaay back in the day. Yugioh I played Lightsworn, Gadgets, and Six Samurai. As for Magic, I usually Cube or played a sliver deck during Onslaught and a UB Artifact deck during Darksteel.
Played YuGiOh during the Upper Deck days and topped at a few regionals. Have been playing Magic off and on since Tempest. Played Pokemon for a few years as well and had a blast. Always an uppercut of nostalgia whenever I play it.
Also dabbled with Bleach, Anachronism, Duel Masters, Lord of the Rings, Dragonball Z, etc... We had a pretty busy hobby shop where I grew up that did well with the TCG/CCG community. The owner had game demos on a regular basis. Was great to have the opportunity to test a bunch of them out.

I think you have me beat for most TCG's haha, I used to top regionals as well...although my hobby shop back in the day was nothing but YuGiOh unfortunately.
I have never taken my TCG gameplay to any tournaments, but have dabbled... a LOT. On that note, put on your hard hats for an incoming "wall of text".
Pokemon (1st Gen): I was more of a "collector" back then, it was a HUGE craze for the longest time (abt 2 years or so?). I at least knew how the rules of he game worked.
Magic (Old Skool Version): Found a starter deck at a "Car Boot Sale" (I lived in England). Me and my brother dabbled in that (over 10 years ago). We later picked up a couple of "Theme Decks" and messed around.
YuGiOh (Original Version): I went to a local Comic Book store and played some weekly matches for a few months. The competition was REALLY lame. I basically build a deck full of the strongest "level 4" monsters I could find, and demolished the competition as they tried to summon their BEWD. It was a cheap and dirty strategy for sure, but nonetheless was very boring for me in the end. Oh, this was also when uber strong cards like "Dark Hole" were legal, I believe cards like that were later banned? I also decided at this point, that Comic Book stores were not a very good scene for me. I could not stand being in the company of smelly kids who didn't shower, and the foul odor that accompanied it. (I'm from small town USA, sure that culture varies in other locations).
MTG: Duels of the Plainswalkers (XBOX/PC): I started playing this on the Xbox, loved it! Finally a digital version of a TCG, since I had (and still have) nobody to play with in real life. I played the very first version somewhat casually. I then got MTG:DotPW 2012 from steam while it was on sale. Have played it a bunch, 33 hours played with every single achievement unlocked except 1. Just today I downloaded the trial of the newest version, thinking about jumping back in to it.
Pokemon Online TCG: This is what i have been playing a bunch since around the beginning of the year. I have put in a ton of hours casually, here and there while in school. I have beat all the available vs CPU matches. 12 opponents, 3 different leagues, 3 times each. This unlocks a bunch of freebie booster packs. I did, however, just this past month spend $25 on the game total. I now have a REALLY cheap/dirty (you see the pattern here?), "Mewtwo EX / Cresselia EX" based deck that I made myself. Having a great time, winning at least 75% of my matches, with it being a pretty successful Aggro Deck.
Granted I have not professional/tournament experience with TCG (like Apollo), I would certainly say I have a decent background to make me somewhat a "veteran" right? maybe?
I am hoping to play competitively in Hearthstone, but I am a broke college student, so we shall have to see ;)
I used to play Magic back probably about 10 or so years ago now. I typically ran an Elf deck, and would actually usually finish in the top 3 at my local hobby shop. I was fairly young back then, so I never really pursued it further than local games, and didn't have the money to really put together a super competitive deck.
Nope, hardly any experience at all. I've dabbled in some computer card games (not online), namely Yu-Gi-Oh and 1 other I forgot the name of, but that was mostly like a few days of messing around. I'd usually get bored with them cause the AI's were usually incredibly stupid and you needed to play through dozens of boring matches to get to maybe 1 or 2 decent matches, to then go into a whole load of boring ones again. Didn't help that the UI's of those games were usually horrible, and the controls of the handhelds even worse. The attempt at a story in those games was beyond a joke, and actively made me hate the character I was playing.
So no real experience, really. Just an affinity for turn based card games, and the perfect opportunity to seriously get into such a game based on a universe I'm very familiar with.

Magic, WoW:TCG, Star Wars, LotR, Harry Potter, Neopets (I dunno man...I have nothing to say), Pokemon...tons of pokemon.
neopets :D I played neopets a long time when I was a kid but didnt know there was a card game around it. I only played yu-gi-oh and that was non-competitive against ai opponents. I mostly liked the anime though sometimes they made no sense and draws were really lucky but that shit was good :D I watched all seasons of the original and GX but not others. I watched some of the new version (zexal) too.
In my country tcg's are not common in fact a lot of things are not common. I have like tons of friends who never even heard of any of my favorite tv series (and I have lot of favorites). No one played tgc's in real life and so neither cards nor video games of tcgs were sold in my country. Very few places if you knew where to look and I didnt. Not till last year when I found a pirated copy of a yugioh game I played for days but I sucked at it and had no idea how to build a deck so I stoped playing. So hopefully I'll change that with hearthstone. I also intend to play hex the new mmotcg in progress.
I played pokemon for a bit, Durant was my deck, and it was fun for awhile then it kinda died out.
I'm an avid Yugioh and Magic player, more towards the Magic side of things, but I have topped Regionals for Yugioh a few years. And I'm actively participating in various M:tG tourneys.
In Yugioh I (currently, on DevPro/DN) play Harpies, Anti-Meta, and Tidal Mermails, and in Magic I'm waiting for standard to change, but when playing I'm known for weird decks built in 5 minutes that either crush or flop. If I had to go to a tourney right now, I think I'd take my good ol' Turbo Fog deck and just durridle around.
Played yu-gi-oh back in the days before it became all fancy so my first deck like everyones first deck was just pure beatdown with some spells. Then i moved on to chaos and after that i built probably the first control deck in the country around spell wall. When that won its first big tournament i realized it was more fun to build decks than play them so i made a success full arnament deck for one of my brothers a dark snake syndrom tornado wall for another and some decent but less succesful baseball kid and the likes decks.
Magic i started playing with the introduction of mirrodin only really doing well with mono black control decks and playing mainly limited since then which i seam to be decent but not amazing at.
Pokemon i played mono purple when i was like 12 then nothing for a bunch of years after that i was convinced by the store owner around here to play a nationals and came in third with something i picked together in a few days. My favorit deck being poision/healing grass/water.
Had some fun with duel masters but the game got ruined by the expansions so i stopped playing that and have dabbled a little in kaijudo which seams to be a better version of the game.
Now days i mostly just play magic limited or online ccg's of all kinds unless someone comes over with a deck.
Magic: The Gathering Played heavily at the semi-professional level. Attended and placed in several state level tournaments and PTQ's... then got married and had to start redirecting my time and money.
MTGO Played about the same way I did with paper Magic, even wrote for PureMTGO for about a year. Problem was it was just too easy to spend ridiculous amounts of cash when I can roll out of bed at 3am for an impromptu booster draft. Had to give it up...
MTG: Duels of the Planewalkers This is pretty much all I play now. It's perfect, scratches the itch and only costs a finite amount of money. Anxiously waiting for 2014 to come out next week.
Yu-Gi-Oh! This is my guilty pleasure, I used to play heavily back in school. I stick to digital versions now, but I still think it's fun. Back when I played on paper I would go to tournaments in Reno. This is back when every deck was cram as many 1900 ATK monsters and Ultra Rares into your 40 as possible and win. I was the first person at that shop to attempt a control deck and was almost laughed out of the mall for having a pair of Mirror Walls in my deck... until I took that event and the 3 following! Relinquished + Gravity Bind FTW. The game sure has changed since then...
Pokemon Played a little back in the day, wouldn't mind picking it up again but have no cards nor anyone to play it with.
Other Randoms Super Nova (Would KILL to find this game again), DBZ and WoW TCG...
Somewhat interested in Hex and foaming at the mouth for Hearthstone.
Finished 5th at YGO Australian Nats 2005 in Melbourne and was the top ranked Victorian player when i hung up the gloves. I've also dabbled in WoW TCG but never went to many tournaments as the scene was fairly dead in Melbourne.
Really looking forward to Hearthstone, I'm trying my hand at Scrolls at the moment but I feel the game is a bit slow - something which Hearthstone appears to have no issues with from checking out vods.
Hoping to get accepted into the Beta, if it's even possible for non-North Americans.
I have never played online TCG but I have been playing a lot of real ones for about 5 years (long time ago ;) ).
Mainly LotR TCG, Legend of Five Rings TCG, MtG - local and country tournaments (mainly LotR)... ...and Game of Thrones TCG and Star Wars TCG but it was more just for fun to check it out ;)
I played magic for about 10 years, Often played in tourneys but always preferred Eternal format, at least that is what it is called now. I had a pretty expensive Sliver deck, as well as a Spike deck that focused on creatures with +1/+1 counters. It has been a few years since I played that though.
Other than that I have dabbled in other card games but nothing extensive, I am really looking forward to Hearthstone though.
Uhm. I'm probably going to be showing my age here, but I played Magic the Gathering starting with Revised ( The set after Beta ) and played all the way through Ravnica Block. Used to play in regional competitions and state level competitions in my home state. I leaned towards white and red, or white and green, depending on the set. Played straight white weenie, when it was a viable option. My favorite cards? In no specific order.

I played pokemon and magic years ago, got back into magic when gatecrash came out. Run Red/Green for magic or Black/White
Oh, boy. I have a list.

Nice! What are some of your favorite cards?

MMDOC is a decent enough Online TCG while you're waiting for Hearthstone. Give it a try!

Honor the Pure
Kjeldoran Outpost.
I've been playing Magic on and off for about 10 years now. I tend to play blue or green. I've dabbled a bit in Pokemon and Yugioh.
