posted a message on Minions with 0 attack

Amusingly, I just watched a livestream match where someone tried this. You can't attack with something that has 0 damage value, so you'd need something to buff them, a swordsmith, or an ability of some kind. Which helps explain why the totems are as cheap as they are, I suppose. Otherwise, they'd be a bit out of hand, in my opinion. Be that as it may, there are some taunters that don't have any attack, but are durable, and cheap that I like. Shieldbearer is a good example.

posted a message on More Heroes In The Future?

Well, the obvious choices for addition to the roster, as noted would be the Death Knight and Monk. Arthas and Chen Stormstout. But then the question opens up to even more speculation, in what their hero abilities would be? Arthas could be used in a similar fashion to the Paladin, I suppose. But it would be more reactionary I think for flavor purposes. A creature dies on your turn, you pay 2 to bring out a 2/1 ghoul, maybe? But what would the monk's be? The ability to consume an absurd amount of alcohol? I don't even know where to start with that one....

posted a message on Hero choosing strategy

I'm not sure, myself. I tend to lean towards a Druid for Arena, as they seem to have a bit more flexibility in the mechanics of their minions, like with Druid of the Claw which would serve well in the setting, combined with their hero ability to inflict damage of their own and armor themselves. Warlock I think would be pretty strong as well, especially with their hero power to help with card advantage. Guess we'll find out though.

Unfortunately, I don't have a record with the deck as I'm not in the beta. Though I do intend to test it as soon as I'm able. I'll update with results when I can if you'd like.

Senjin Shieldmasta  and Novice Engineer would be my choices. One for the inexpensive, durable taunt. The other for the quick, cheap card drawing power.

posted a message on Understanding Strategies

I would consider replacing the Magma Rager with something else. Given that it is a 5/1 it might not last very long, or long enough to accomplish anything at all, depending on the Hero you're facing off against, like a Mage for example. Might want to look at the Imp Master? It's a 1/3 for three that gives you a free 1/1 Imp at the end of every turn, and does 1 damage to itself. Another small piece of advice, it seems like you're spreading yourself a bit thin. Have a couple cards that give draw power, another that increases your spell power. Try to focus on at most, two mechanics and build around them. One of the worst things you can do is spread a deck's mechanics too thin.

Evenin' folks. Just thought I'd submit a themed deck, as I've come across a couple. This is my initial take on a Paladin themed deck, and I'd like opinions on it. The idea of the deck is to maintain board control through numbers, and the use of taunt, divine shield and when all else fails, humility combined with consecration for one big reset button.

posted a message on Other TCG Veterans?

Uhm. I'm probably going to be showing my age here, but I played Magic the Gathering starting with Revised ( The set after Beta ) and played all the way through Ravnica Block. Used to play in regional competitions and state level competitions in my home state. I leaned towards white and red, or white and green, depending on the set. Played straight white weenie, when it was a viable option. My favorite cards? In no specific order.

    Akroma, Angel of Wrath

    Honor the Pure

    Kjeldoran Outpost.

posted a message on Druid Value Deck

Mm. You might want to put in a few minions that actually have Taunt and are cheap, low drop minions. That is really the only concern I would have with this build, as it'll help keep the opposing minions from attacking you directly in the early game and allow you to establish board control when you get around to bringing out Cenarius and the Ancient of Lore minions. Having more drawing power is always a great idea though, the more resources you have to choose from, the better off you'll be. Especially if you end up having to top deck with a Warlock. I've seen a few duels go like that, and it isn't pretty for the non-Warlock.

posted a message on When to take out a minion instead of hero.

It would depend, as Zhlandir said, I think. You have to judge between how important it is to maintain board control, or attack your opponent.

The example I'd use is one that was posted on the sub-reddit Hearthstone forum today, where a Scavenging Hyena got up to something crazy...it got up to a 34/16 because it was a mirrored Hunter match, and the Hyena gets stronger every time a beast is killed. So in a situation like that, especially if you can't consistently freeze it, or keep taunt minions on the board, make certain you can kill it before you attack it. Otherwise, take into account the type of hero you're fighting, as has been mentioned here. Paladins have alot of buffs, and abilities to keep their minions alive, Priests can heal, so on and so forth.

TL;DR: You'll need experience, just like the rest of us. The entire game is highly situational from what I've seen.
