During college, 15 years ago I used to play Magic, I recall playing a blue/white control deck with an artifact called Icy Manipulator.
Loved that card....think it was from the Legends xp.....maybe beta, or even alpha...... and reissued during Ice Age. It's text was " Tap target permanent" I believe. It was awesome in a Stasis deck if I remember right.
Haha, been through the ringer myself. Let's see, started with Magic the Gathering, my brother got me started on a blue/black deck. Moved on to Pokemon, I got every one of the first 150 cept for Charizard, then Yu gi Oh, which was up and down with me buying a crap load, coming up with some unique deck ideas, and dealing with the abject idiocy of the synchro summon and blackwing cards, followed by more Magic the Gathering, again a black deck, and then Duel Masters, which had the best mana system aside from hearthstone for any tcg I've ever played.
Not sure if it counts, but I also played Culdcept and Culdcept saga, PS2 and 360 CCG games respectively. They are super cool. I kinda like hearthstone the most, but...frustrating at times dealing with the Meta. Still, it's got time to change/balance/improve.
I used to play Yugioh (During the Blackwing, Lightsworns, and Zombies era. I was ok just played local tournaments every few weeks. I kept quitting because the band list hurt my feelings!
I played Pokemon casually, along with MTG for 2 days. (I really dislike the mechanics of MTG.)
Also Played Naruto CCG very competitively, went to lots of Chunins and won once, and came top 4 in another, and went to play in Gencon. The Naruto CCG was turn based like this game, but definitely had the most mechanics of any TCG/CCG I've ever played. Unfortunately, Bandai sucks at advertising, and the game went under last year :(
Well since Hearthstone is bugging the fuck out on my iPad, I've been back playing Shadow Era and have also gotten hooked on Ascension. Which is weird, because the point of that game is to build a deck. Not play one. Rudimentary, but still a solid time passer.
Late 2014, there is a game called Spellweaver dropping, might check that out. I refuse to play any of that bullshit MtG offers on iPad, unless it's a properly configured MtG:Online port.
Solforge, Hex, nor any of the other DTCG's have hooked me into dropping coin. I'll get back to HS proper when they fix the bugs.
After Magic came out, a ton of CCGs came out...and I tried almost all of them.
Magic: the Gathering, Pokemon, Netrunner, Jihad (Vampire: the Masquerade), Rage, Heresy, Legend of the 5 Rings, Shadowfist, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Star Wars, and Doomtown...I think that's it. I've also played some Digital CCGs like Scrolls, but from Magic to Doomtown is the extent of my physical CCG experience.
I never played TCG's seriously, played magic for a bit as a kid but never anything more than super casually.
In high school and college I played poker extremely seriously to make spending money (I never went full time/pro but I would consider myself one of the best amateur pot-limit omaha players in the world). Definitely has been very helpful understanding things like odds and variance in HS.

played magic the gathering a lot, passed DCI judge exam, also played yougioh and world of warcraft. mostly played mtg, spent a lot of time in tournaments and drafts
I've played Magic for the better part of 13 years now. Will probably play until the day they stop printing and still play a bit afterwords. Played a bit of Yugioh on the GBA along with Dual Masters (Someone Mentioned them a ways up and they did have a pretty good resource system) I've also got an absurd amount of Magi Nation cards from the early 00's that I randomly pull out to play a game with friends (seriously that game was broke af) I did try that Might and Magic Duels of Champions for a bit. Then I dumped it once Hearthstone went into Open Beta.

Does any one remember Spellfire?? Wasn't that made by TSR (the DnD makers at the time) or did the TSR CCG have a different name????

There were a couple different TSR CCG's - Spellfire flopped, so they tried another one whose name I don't remember - something Wars.

I've played Magic (mostly for fun) and Yu-Gi-Oh. I played that since release and have recently slowed down. The game just isn't fun anymore.
