I just squelch when they use an emote twice. Most don't.
It's basicly one of the things you have to learn anyway, not getting angry at your opponent. It helps. "No emotions, if you're angry, you lose." That's what my teammate in wow arena often said, it's good advice.
I think an auto-BM feature would be more useful. Allow the user to configure what emote they would like to automatically spam upon winning - Wow, Thanks, or Greetings.

No reason for the option not to exist. So people who do squelch every game, which is definitely tedious, can just check a box and be done with it. People who don't mind emotes or enjoy them can continue as the game is currently. Everyone wins.
the game is already antisocial enough as it is because the socializing is either using emotes in game or going on the forums and talking to people there.
So it's just THAT difficult to squelch the enemy player huh? Or are your feelings THAT fragile that the enemy player getting just one emote off will emotionally devastate you?
The only thing about the emote system that I hate is the change of sorry to wow. At least with sorry you can actually be sincere, but every time you say "wow" you sound like moron.
Emotes add nothing to the game for me, and they're occasionally annoying. Manually squelching in every single game I play is tedious. An auto-squelch option would be trivial to add. What's the problem with adding it?
(Options bloat? Really? There's already a "miscellaneous" section under options - make a button for "preferences" alongside "credits" and "cinematic", move the obscure "enable challenging nearby players" and "allow friends to spectate" preferences that 95% of players will never touch to that separate preferences screen, add auto-squelch as a preference. There, you've *simplified* the experience for most players, and added a useful feature for a few of us.)
Absolute minimum that Blizzard could do - make it so I can squelch my opponent while I'm waiting for him to mulligan. That would at least make manually squelching slightly less tedious.
Anyone who voted no is wrong. What if everyone got PB&J sandwiches. Everyone likes the PB, some like the J some don't. Sure you could say...well is it that difficult to remove the J from the sandwich everytime? No, just a tedious waste of time. Rather why can't there be an option to have PB alone, or PB&J.
So no it isn't about being fragile, it having an option (options are always good) in a digital game.

Do you consider emotes in game as socializing? Well...
well sort of while it sounds like a stretch it allows a common courtesy between players where you can greet a player and say well played after a win or a lose even though that's not how it's really being used for.
Honestly, I like emotes myself and love using them as both a courtesy and a really limited form of shittalk like I'd do with someone I'm having fun with in real life, but I always support giving players more options to customize their gameplay experience. Some people don't enjoy emotes like I do, they get under their skin or distract from their game or whatever, which is fine. Giving them an option to choose their own experience harms no one. So long as I don't know I'm BMing a wall, I don't really care.
"As part of ongoing communication with the WoW developers, it has been agreed that Hearthstone is now the official source of WoW lore. We hope you look forward to seeing Ragnaros, Lightlord in Legion!"
It's probably low on Blizzard's priority list. Remember it took them 2 years to give us new deck slots (and the deckslots were actually already there from the beginning, they just enabled us to use them).
I still can't believe this isn't an option. I have sounds for hearthstone disabled just so I don't have to remember to squelch before every game. I feel like for the money blizzard generates with this game they are some of the laziest or stubborn developers ever ie second tab for decks.
Oh wait, no :,( The only thing people have in this game is the rope and emotes and 90% of users are dicks with it.
Do I really have to still squelch everyone manually after 3 years? Really?
That's like if you manufactured a toaster but forgot to have it stop automatically so that people would have to sit there watching the toasts so they don't burn. Then cue the droves of idiots saying BUT JUST WATCH THE TOAST MAN I WATCH THE TOAST WHY DON'T YOU JUST WATCH THE TOAST NO PROBLEM HERE.

I would consider paying Blizzard real money for the temporary ability to have my emotes penetrate opponents' squelch.

So far 151 on YES
and 49 on NO
I guess that we are reaching a point here...

I think the results will be different with the third option, don't really care.

What I find fascinating is how a prerecorded message that you've been hearing for over 3 years can still trigger you enough to make a thread.
