If you intend to continue playing Hearthstone, you're going to want the BRM cards.
If you want the BRM cards, it's a much better deal to pay cash for them and save your gold for packs, than to spend gold on BRM and ever spend cash on packs.
If you're going to buy BRM for cash, there's no reason not to pre-order it, and (a) get a bonus card back, and (b) avoid the risk of checkout hassles trying to buy it on release.
I don't unfortunately, I'd have to do some searching that I'd rather leave to you.
I believe they actually tested forced discard mechanics, and felt that it was "unfun".
I couldn't disagree more, but I'm not a dev.
Even if they kept out forced discard mechanics, they might add optional ones that buff a card's effect. Time will tell I guess. Either way, my point was that some bad BRM cards today, may not be so bad in 6 months.
I just want the adventure. Who cares if the cards are good? In fact if the cards we all top-tier constructed playables, that would probably mean they were badly designed and power-creeping the game at an alarming pace.
As long as the cards are somewhat balanced and the adventure mode is fun, I'm happy. The bulk of the cost of this thing is not making new cards, it's making the whole adventure itself, though now with the core code done since Naxx, it's kind of puzzling that they're not giving the first wing for free again. To me that feels kind of greedy but it's not like they had to give the first wing away the first time either.
You're getting quite a discount by preordering it plus a cool card back! I preordered it on the first day and it is an awesome looking card back. I alternate it between my naxx heroic.
The only reason I care is because blindly paying for and supporting sub-par work doesn't set a great precedent. If BRM is all mostly situational cards and yawn-inducing special cards and mechanics and they rake in a few million (which they will no matter what) then there is nothing stopping them from continuing that pattern until sales really drop off.
Is the expansion worth 25 bucks? Yes. So, if you plan on buying BRM with money, it's definitely worth pre-ordering. Why not get a limited edition card back.
That being said, if you were planning on paying gold for BRM, then no, I don't think the card back alone is incentive enough to pay money instead. I've seen so many people say they originally intended to pay gold but now with the card back they're busting out their wallet. I've even seen some people say they have a complete collection with tons of gold with nothing to spend it on and yet they still intend to pay with actual cash. 25 bucks for a card back only your opponent can see? Especially when there's already so many amazing card backs we've accumulated over the seasons for free (Pirates!). I think I'll pass.
In the end though, it's your money. Buy what makes you happy.
I've resolved to use gold to purchase it since I've been hoarding it since before the pre-order announcement. I'm sure there will be a few standout cards that will be make it almost a necessity. I'm most looking forward to the heroic adventure mode though.
Using naxxaramas as an example, good cards like belcher, loatheb, and mad scientist are all in deep wings. Also, Kel'thuzad is an above avarage legendary and is probably better than opening 35 packs in hopes for a good legendary.
So getting the adventure is a must, not really a choice. The only choice is if you want to spend money or gold. If you already decided to spend money instead of gold, then pre-order or buying later literally makes no difference.
So, whether it is worth to spend money or not is the only question. Without information on how much you make monthly, how much is your mortgage, and how many mouths you need to feed, we can't help u with that.
I find it hard to imagine someone really serious about Hearthstone not getting the expansion. Just think of all of the cards from the last two that have become must-haves. I preordered simply because I knew I would be buying it anyway and might as well get the cardback free. I can't say I'm hugely attracted by cardbacks in general, but something is better than nothing.
After I started playing Hearthstone I've not spent any money on other games, and the money I spend on Hearthstone is well worth it. For Naxx I bought one and one wing as I did not pre-order for some stupid reason. The price for pre-ordering is low and I would rather use that gold on buying card packs than unlocking wings. If you got all the cards you need/want, them offcourse you can use gold to unlock BRM.
No reason to pre order, the card back is hideous. and you can just buy the damn thing when it releases. Everytime I see someone playing with the pre order back I feel queasy.
There's much fun in beating adventure bosses, especially on heroic mode, but its pretty much a single time experience. When it comes to the card back, its perhaps the best one released so far imo. But the main thing are the 31 new cards and I'd rather see all of them first to see how much they will be actually useful for classes I play.
It's not about the classes you play, it's the decks and classes you will play in the future, the meta is ever evolving and the decks/classes you play currently won't always be the same.
I do not understand what is the point of asking if it is worth to it to spend 22 euros or 25 dollars for brm. You people should not be browsing this website in the 1st place. It is hearthstone the videogame. Either you spend money on it or you play it for free. You people should move on with your lives if it really hurts for you to pay 22 euros for the hs adventure. Me, I am not in the position to judge or tell people how to waste their own money or their time. Like any other things in the world. We have a choice. Why not try going outdoors and find another hobby that it is 100% free and no dlc add-ons no extra paying for anything required.
Good luck finding another hobby that only costs ~$25 every 6 months or so.
Why are some people so adamant about not spending money because it's a f2p game ? It's almost a matter of pride for them. You're basically like that guy in a project who's proud that he's contributed nothing but still wants his name/credit on it.
nothing to do with pride, at least not for me. Firstly, cardback doesn't appeal to me, nor do i keep track of my opponent's cardbacks. The only time their cardback draw my attention is when it is the basic cardback, because only real good players try to hide their strength by using basic cardbacks.
So, why don't i spend money? Well, as a non-american and non-european, 25 USD is not exactly 25 to me, due to currency exchange, so it's a bit more than what i am willing to pay for a game. Also, i personally don't think HS is worth spending money on. Like, i will pay 15 bucks to watch a movie, but if they start charging 70 bucks i probably won't watch it.
There are some nice games that i have spent money on previously, and HS is just not that level yet, IMO.
i'm more than happy about the rate i'm getting the game content as a f2p player, so i see no reason to pay. As for supporting the development team, i'll leave that to those who are more willing to part with their money. I'm not very charitible, tbh.

Lol this is so ridiculous. Brb only the good players use the basic card back and the people I lose to that have a legend card back are trash
If you're going to spend money on this game at all, just preorder BRM, as it offers the best cash to gold ratio in the game (far better than buying packs or arena runs with cash). It's definitely worth the money (unless u have a stash of 3.5k+ gold).

Even if you don't need a cash infusion to fund development, it's always better for a business to get revenue now rather than at a later date.
Even if they kept out forced discard mechanics, they might add optional ones that buff a card's effect. Time will tell I guess. Either way, my point was that some bad BRM cards today, may not be so bad in 6 months.
I don't get why people think the cards matter.
I just want the adventure. Who cares if the cards are good?

Yes but I can assure that is NOT why Blizzard is offering the pre-order option they are offering.

Humperdink Humperdink Humperdink!!!
If you're going to buy it anyway may aswell Pre-Order.
What's the point in limiting yourself in the card pool you can use right?

birdwatching requires no expenditures Kappa
i prefer handlock over zoo.
Went with € since its 22€ which is around 24 packs while 3500 gold ofc is 35
Surprise!

Otherwise, don't.
