i was bored and playing control warrior at like rank 19 yesterday and i played a priest who was using the most basic of basic decks...
I mean he was playing goldshire footman, river crocs, taz dingo, etc. On turn 7 when i black knighted his lord of the arena, i had lethal with him at 5 hp and me at 30+5 armor, but i couldn't do it. i felt bad and ended up conceding.
next game, i got matched up against a druid and he conceded before the game started. instant Karma.

Why feel bad, to win is part of the game.
i dont know, it was a temporary passing moment, but i just kind of felt like i was destroying the game for someone who might literally be playing their first game ever.
Honestly? I don't.. I just get so frustrated when a new season starts and I'm back on 20-18 ranks. 50% of people are as good as I am and 50% of the people have no idea what they are doing so I never know what to expect and I have no idea how to react to their weird decks either.. and it's even more annoying when I play against a priest and they keep healing up for 15 minutes and then they obviously still loose because they play the most basic priest deck and I just feel like there really isn't a competition because I know that I will win anyway but they still heal up for 15 minutes LITERALLY wasting my time.
So no I don't feel bad, I just try to escape from rank 20-18 hell as fast as possible..

I didn't have a signature so Flux added one for me.
When they ONLY play basic cards , but they persevere and are never rude once..I want to hug them. I feel sincerely bad.
Its great they are giving the game a chance, but when they own only basic cards, then are beaten hard by a dozen epics and legendaries. All the while being very polite and persevering.. ;(

Some people have RNGeesus but I'm still living in the dark :(
I wish I could wear my bans as medals.. I live on the edge. 2 strikes baby. 1 away from gone for good.
I actually think this is something blizzard could do something about. A common complaint I've had from friends is that they can't compete with many opponents when they first start playing because they win against true beginners and get matched against people with real decks that they can't really compete against. One in particular is a control player and feels overwhelmed because he had no legendary cards to utilize as end game bombs and the likes of war golem and force tank weren't exactly appealing.
If blizzard created a sort of 'beginner island' queue where there was some rarity threshold for decks beginners who do well won't climb so high and get squashed by people with really optimized decks.
In your specific example though, you're on ranked ladder and no one would blame you for playing to win at any cost since that's the reason to play ranked ladder. I do think beginners could benefit from a constructed system where they can be successful and not run into decks they simply can't beat if the game goes too long (because even casual features a lot of constructed players with card pools just completing dailies or whatever).
The alternative would be making some rare/common late game cards that are compelling choices without being quite legendary tier. In general force tank max doesn't cut it but something like the druid ancient of war/lore do. If there were rare or common options that even just followed the 'standard curve' of stat to mana ratio it would help. So a compelling vanilla seven drop might be a 6/8 taunt or something.

I don't feel bad at all, Hearthstone is a COMPETITIVE game, so you Play 2 Win (P2W) pun intended XD
I don't at all. When I see someone drop a Bloodfen Raptor and then a bunch of other basic cards and I'm dropping legends that isn't fun for me or them. They get to see some cool cards but it has no challenge or value. I actually root for them to get lucky and beat me.
Well the season resets me above rank20 every time so I don't really ever see people play bad decks.
In arena though it can be a little sad to see someone drop silverback patriarchs and mind blasting my face... Still happens sometimes, at that 0-0 bracket... I'm sorry little bro. I'M SORRY. Tough love.
I always concede after getting to point I have lethal against new players. At least when I'm above rank 15 at the start of a season. Reasoning? They need it more than me, and if they stay till the bitter end they deserve a reward for being a decent person. Not like they're gonna climb off of it right? And I'll still climb out of their range pretty quick. Throw a few bones to some ppl that'll appreciate it when I'm in that area, knowatimean?
Whenever I queue against a newbie I always concede when I have lethal, when I was starting the game I remember that I was being crushed by everyone at the ranked mode and a kind soul conceded to me because I didn't have good cards. Hearthstone is a competitive game indeed, but if you're playing against someone that is no match for you it doesn't hurt to concede.
I have lost to a Mage all basic deck at rank 18. I was running a full ramp druid. The player just had perfect hand, draw, and answers. I was stunnnnnned when it happened.
On the other side. I have completley destroyed people with all basic decks, and yes I do feel bad.

Jaylaw330 you did a nice thing nothing wrong with that. We all want to win. But to be gracious now and then is not a bad thing. Good Job.
Yeah it happened to me after having not played for an entire season. I was at rank 19 or something, I did take the win but I felt very bad about it.
the guy's name was something like 'happyguy' or something too, so i couldnt bring myself to ruin his mood lol
I actually find it quite fun at low ranks playing against "basic" or "weird" decks.
Once you reach higher ranks, most decks you will encounter will be fairly standard.
At these ranks; however, it's a blast. It may be a war golem, it may be dr. boom, or it may be prophet velen!

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice - Sneak Review! http://www.thepoxbox.com/challenges.php?id=batmanvsuperman
Well, I do feel bad when facing someone with obviously an incomplete collection when I play something like Handlock.
But, as I feel bad, I really say to myself that I if ever I manage to lose that match then, well, I really really suck . :-/

I concede when I find total newbies as well. I think it's a courtesy I must do.

What's even more regrettable is realizing you've lost to one...
I have no time for gains!
