As the title says I am a complete newbie at Hearthstone. I was just wondering if anyone could give me any advice to start me off.
So far I have unlocked all the classes and got all basic cards for the Hunter and Mage classes, I'm assuming I should carry on and unlock all the basic cards for the other classes?
Also if you could point be in the direction of some material that can help me build decent decks in the future that would be awesome.
I'd recommend getting all the classes to level 10 as this will unlock all of their basic cards and also net you some extra gold.
Check out this list for some hidden quests you can complete right way. I would recommend saving up gold and buying a couple of packs with it just to get your collection started.
I would consider buying the Naxxramas Adventure. Grinding gold to unlock it can take a long time and it gives you several useful cards guaranteed unlike packs which could give you nothing useful.
A good strategy is to find out which class you like to play and focus on obtaining cards through crafting for that class first, and then branch out once you have at least one solid deck. Be wary about disenchanting cards from other classes though, as you may find yourself having to craft them later!
1260 dust deck, less then 1 legendary card. Still you will needs Naxx. Or atleast 1st wing.
The reason I recommand zoo is.
1. cheap.
2. easy to play sub-optimal and still win.
3. has the potential to climb ladder very fast and be legend.
I've been playing for over a year. My friend played only 1 week. And could beat me consistently with this deck. Its just that simple and strong. mulligan for undertaker curve and snowball while making value trades. gg.
Unless, you are me: I have never been legend, I have never been in the one digit area and have played Zoo in 4 Metas...so....:)
Go twitch and search for xixo and watch his old streams, when he plays zoo. How and why he makes the trades he does. But single digits ranking isnt even about deck or skill. Mostly an time issue. Unless you're really bad. :)
I am really sorry, but I am beyond bad...but, that does not matter, where there is glory, there must be misery, were there is victory, there is defeat as well.
1. Level heroes to 10 for some gold 2. Complete daily quests for more gold 3. Do arena runs to get accustomed to the different cards hearthstone has to offer 4. Buy Naxxramas with either Gold or Money eventually 5. Buy Card Packs, but don't disenchant cards or craft commons these will be plentiful in cp's. 6. Save up arcane dust for some a (cheap) deck for a hero of your liking 7. Check the possible (extra) quests online, like reach lvl 10 on each hero (100 or 300g I believe)
I'd like to reiterate Gamegeek 16's points about NOT disenchanting cards and not crafting commons. Personally, I wouldn't craft rares either as, if you stick with the game, you will regret this later as you will have 2 of each rare fairly quickly just through opening packs. I guess that a couple of rares necessary to build that first competitive deck is OK though.
Arena is by far my favourite way of spending gold as the games themselves are fun and you aren't going to suffer at the hands of players who have large collections as decks aren't built from the cards which you own. However, you may find it painful at first due to inexperience.
Regardless, it is worth continuing to play Arena as, once you get good at it, it will pay for itself in prizes. At 3 wins you typically get rewards with value equal to or greater than the 150 gold entrance fee. At 7 wins you get at least 150 gold back PLUS a booster and perhaps a card or some dust.
Disenchant extra cards, but that's it. Craft Epics and Legendaries only. If you want a jumpstart, buy a bunch of expert card packs. You can do arena to get GvG packs, so you should buy the expert set instead if you want to purchase some cards. You'll get a bunch of extras that you can disenchant to craft Epics and Legends that you want.

Welcome to hell mate. If you want to hear my opinion;
1. Buy Naxxramas
2. Play Arena
3. Open Packs
4. Stay away from ranked and casual at prime time as you will be rendered into little pieces and will never return to this game
5. Consider buying 200 packs if you want to circumvent the suffering part

I bet some aliens would disagree. Maybe they have a better game that we haven't played yet. ;)
I'm sad nobody uses the search function. I made a thread literally called "advice for new players" a couple weeks ago.
Anyway, welcome! :-)
Feel free to add me if you play on NA! iMPose#1429
Holy crap! Thanks for all the advice guys, I might have to use a glossary to help with some things!
@MLPossey27 I wasn't aware there was a search function I'll be sure to seek it out.
