This month I decided to climb to legend in Standard so I was playing Spell Druid around diamond 2/1 area and there was soo much DH ( my worst matchup ) . My last 5 games to legend were against DH and even though I was winning most of them either due to luck or me knowing the matchup...I was raging and thinking to myself ,,Didnt Blizz fix this bs??,,
What I mean is...I remember reading a long time ago that Blizz made a change to the matchmaking so you 1) Couldn't play against the same person twice in a row ( mainly to prevent instant counter deck reque in high legend ) and 2) Couldn't play against the same class twice in row (mainly so you wouldn't feel frustrated playing against the same class over and over again due to RNG )
At the time I thought both of these were great changes so I don't understand why Blizz would backtrack on them. Did they say anything about it and I missed it? I really think they should have kept at least 2) because its really annoying playing against the same class 5 times in a row when its a bad matchup. Especially if the class in question is op like DH was at the beginning of this expack.
I cannot recall that there was ever a rule in place to prevent a player from getting matched up with one class multiple games in a row. Do you happen to have a source for that?
Regardless, if that was ever a rule, it must have been dropped a long time ago. I still recall playing against multiple Shaman players back to back in the Karazhan era, and multiple Warriors during Gadgetzan. If it used to be a thing, it isn't anymore for several years now.
And if you see nothing but DH, play Warrior and think of it as a blessing. Of course, you won't see a DH for hours as soon as you start playing Warrior, but you get what I mean.
We've implemented a new feature to reduce chances of matching against the same player and same class multiple times in a row. Some exceptions may occur when players have few matchmaking options near their rank.
Match quality should be improved for players in ranks 25 – 21.
It does say there would be ,,some exceptions,, but my que times weren't long at all and FIVE in a row? That's a pretty big exception xD
That was the old ranking system, and that post is from over a year ago. The new one is based on MMR, and not just rank, so I can’t be certain what still applies, sorry!
I do know that warrior is great against DH but I just don't wanna craft Ancharrr because I hate pirates with a passion ever since the old Patches the Pirate days.
I am just surprised that Blizz backtracked on this rule since it seems great to me. Not just now for DH / Druid / Priest or whatever..but whenever there is a class that's played way more than others it would be a big relief to have to face it max 50% of the time. Even when a class is not that common but I just don't like playing against it ( Big Priest before the Barnes nerf...grrr ) I would love to never play against it twice in a row.

Hello everyone.

I don’t think they ever said anything about not playing against the same class in a row.

Alright found it. Here's the hearthpwn article about the patch in question https://www.hearthpwn.com/news/6742-patch-live-18-card-buffs-1-card-nerf-sn1p-snap-new
And the important bit is:
Matchmaking Improvements
It does say there would be ,,some exceptions,, but my que times weren't long at all and FIVE in a row? That's a pretty big exception xD
Where are they? I see mages all the time

Warrior>DH by far Warrior enrage is best deck and ultra counter DH
Most frequently used decks you will face on Ladder
1) Tempo DH
2) Spell Druid
3) Thief Priest
And guess what ? They are ALL annoying.
I do know that warrior is great against DH but I just don't wanna craft Ancharrr because I hate pirates with a passion ever since the old Patches the Pirate days.
