anyone suspecting that blizzard is also secretly going to lower the chance to find legendaries and epics in the first days after gvg release?
Cause lots of ppl will open like 100 packs day one, they find nothing --> they spend tons of real money in order to find what they need.
This is not going to happen. They already confirmed that the chances remain the same as before and considering the large number of pack openings, any change would be easy to spot. Also 100 packs are only 5 legendaries on the average, while the expansion will have like 15-20, so it will be still a long way to go.
Classic Blizzard. Announces something and then doesn't announce the real release date, so people will go batshit crazy and after that finally releases it on the last possible date.
Everybody's angry, everybody will buy it.
They actually do lose both money and goodwill with the delays and teases and vague release dates, though. It's very strange to say in early November, "Hey guys the next expansion is coming out sometime in December!" Y'know, just, sometime. And then when December hits, refuse to elaborate on any concrete release date. It's extraordinarily poor marketing and coordination, and quite frankly unprofessional.
Of course the fans will buy it, but I don't see anyone going batshit insane or getting angry. I see a lot of legitimate and entirely warranted confusion, and not much else.
I'd legitimately be curious as to what the reasons are (intentional or incidental) for Blizzard/the Hearthstone team marketing their product so ineffectually.
I really doubt they lose any goodwill or money from being vague with release dates. They been this vague for all their games for over 10 years and if they lost so much money and goodwill on it then Blizzard must already be out of business.
It's been like one day of December so far and you are now demanding a release date? I really doubt any of you will spend any less money on Hearthstone by having to wait some time. In fact, by the looks of this topic I can see the hype is real and that Blizzard's strategy is working really well.
Blizzard will be swimming in money from this expansion, even if they postpone it to March next year.
Well, here's the thing: obviously every last person who posts on this forum (and even the shy people who lurk it and others) will shell out tons of money for it no matter when it'll be released. They won't loose much money and hardly any more goodwill than they've already lost from the likes of us.
I'm honestly, sincerely trying to make sense of the business plan, and how this helps sell more to the more casual, less dedicated part of the fanbase. They're the ones who are actually likely to "pick up their toys and go elsewhere", so to speak. They're the ones Blizzard needs to hang onto. For your average person, the way they're going about announcing this is really confounding. All they heard was that it was coming out in December - so early this week, they're going to log onto their Hearthstone account expecting a new expansion and planning to spend money, and they're going to be really, really confused. Then they're going to try and get more information, and if they're lucky they'll find the obscure twitter announcement that it actually will be announced ahead of time - which incidentally should be the headline on Blizzard's Hearthstone site, not buried in Zeriyah's Twitter.
And I think it's absolutely appropriate for people (at least those of us who were paying attention) to expect a concrete release date announcement on the 1st of December or sooner. And that isn't asking for much. All the blogs were set to run out at this time, the last card we were voting on was being revealed at this time, all announced flow of information concerning GvG coming from Blizzard was abruptly ending exactly at the beginning of December... Why wouldn't people jump to conclusions?
Honestly I hate the way things like this are handled. Like when they showed the preview of Diablo 3 patch 2.1 and had it on PTR for 3 MONTHS after. I got tired of waiting, I knew there was no point in playing until it came out because of the new season characters everyone was going to make, and the wait was so long that I just quit playing the game and haven't touched it since.
Goblins vs. Gnomes is almost certainly 100% complete, hell they had people playing it at Blizzcon and it seemed to be in full capacity. Why not give an exact date? This just pisses people off and makes them less likely to care when it finally hits.
Blizzard has a long history of missing deadlines. Anyone who remembers the WCIII expansion will remember that. Somewhere in there they stopped giving many release dates or deadlines because they were so bad at keeping them.
During today's 8-hour maintenance, it's clear that they are uploading the GvG mechanics. It's the first big expansion with a lot of new mechanics, and anyone who knows tech knows that things go wrong when they're uploaded to the live server. Most likely they want to test it on the main servers, and if everything is fine they'll release it very soon. If something does go wrong they'll want a few extra days to fix the bugs.
That is, there's probably a reason they haven't given a release date. If they had to give it in advance, it would probably be later than anybody wants it to be to give them time for any eventuality.
I don't read other posts, so excuse me if i say something already told, but: i think this a simple business decision, since if you planning to preserve golds for GvG (if you play f2p), you don't have a precise release date, so you start collecting golds at random. (some people simply lost patience and start putting real money into the games, so they don't have to hope that they have enough golds)
My situation is basically this. I don't have completed the expert set playing f2p, i still need some legendaries and i can't play some deck artchetype because of this and now i start collecting golds for GvG hoping to see it released (or at least to see all the cards i the collection) as soon as possible for unpacking as many packs as i can and finding the good cards (the most played basically) in this expansion only to return to the old expansion hoping that another new expansion will not be released soon lol
P.S. take this post as an outburst. Blizzard is simply doing his job by taking this way. Really smart i can say :P
anyone who cries about not knowing release dates is a whiny kid who doesnt know better so give them a break. blizz consistently releases quality products, and i would rather have that at ANY time than something crappy right now.

I'm 27, hardly a whiny baby. I work a real job and have real deadlines and I keep them. Blizzard consistently plays this game of showing you a little bit of something and giving you no real indication of a release. I understand that some things can go wrong and take time to iron out, however, prior to telling everyone about the game and teasing it's release every day for the month of November they should make sure the game is ready to launch and give a real release date. Most other companies announce a product and give you a date for it's availability. Vaguely saying "sometime in December" is childish and unprofessional. If it's done, it's done and there should be a release date. If it's not done, don't tell everyone about it and tease it every day and have nothing to show for it in the end other than, "more coming soon".
I think the main reason releasing today is very unlikley, above all else, is because the WoD raids open today. For those who don't know anything about world of warcraft, pretty much today is the day that all the end game content unlocks. Blizz wouldn't release two different products on the same day to a group of players who play both.

Only problem with this is that they're releasing more raids on the 9th and 16th. I agree, that the very first one would be a tough one to swallow, but they've got new content coming out for the next few weeks on WoD. I think it's even less likely for them to wait until all that's out and then bomb us with a 31st release date for GvG.
Thanks for the time frame on EU for the maintenance ;)
Now with the card dump we only need to get a precise date for the release. I believe that this week will only about the "balance of power on cards" and next week will be the proper release of GvG.
Luckily i've just ended a Rogue Dominance Daily, i wouldn't have the heart to make it with that lame Gadgetzan they are giving us :/
Well, it aint today. Go back to sleep everybody :-)

Anyone else constantly spamming F5 here and on PlayHearthstone twitter for any news?
Can't wait to rip all those packs open from the gold I saved.

In my optimistic side, I hope for this week, but my realistic side says that no... and he's stronger. I don't want listen him!!!!!!!
