They take the adventures away. You paid 25$ for ALL CARDS and could save up gold for the next 4 month They replace it with 130 Cards that you have to get from packs. (3x a year with no adventure saving breaks anymore)
Simple math question: When was the last time you got about 5 legendaries from 25 packs?
Oh... AND you can save 4 month of gold (that would be...about 2000-2500 from quests alone that you can save up for the next big release). Don't try to compensate with "but they give...." THIS is a massive hit for the players!
What ever they tell you is just a lie, because this year you would have 2 adventures and only 1 big release.
For the players it would have been the easiest year since the release of HS because with 2x25$ and one big release you would have been able to use all your gold of 2017 to buy the packs from the only 130 card release. This would have been a disaster for Blizzard and this is why they change the system to 3x130 cards.
You need 150-250 packs to get the core set of a 130 card release. Even if they would give you 50 or 100 free packs it would still not even be close for the adventure lose, because 25$ for ALL cards of the next 4 month was the best deal for us that we ever had!
Don't fall for it if they come up with their "but, we got a sweet deal for new players... they will get a lot of free packs". DONT fall for their marketing tricks and how they try to sell it to us... ITS A MASSIVE HIT.
Welcome to CCG's in general. The more expansions they can manage a year, the more they can get people to pay for packs in order to stay competitive. On the flip side, if you don't have a steady stream of new content the meta locks into a handful of decks and the game get's boring.
At least Hearthstone doesn't have a secondary market for cards where you can see a single card selling for a couple thousand dollars, and prices of $50-100 per card for selected rares aren't unusual. I still think 1600 dust for a legendary is too high considering that most packs only give you 40 dust at most, but at least we don't have an auction house where professional card farmers sell everything at a huge markup.
In my opinion, they should bump up rares and normals in crafting/de value and dramatically reduce epic and legend
50 for normal seems sound to me ( get 5 dust back on de)
150 for a rare (get 25 dust back)
325 for epic (get 75 dust back)
1250 for legendary (get 350 dust back)
2500 for golden legend (get 1250 dust back)
I feel like this would be so much more acceptable in the DE community, make normals and rare a little more dust and dramatically bring down the epic and legendary in order to make it so people can actually craft them.
It was announced last year that we would get 2 expansions and 1 adventure per year (not the 2 adventures and 1 expansion that you were expecting), so this change isn't as big if you consider that information. With that being said I am looking forward to 3 expansions instead as a larger card pool I think will be more beneficial to standard. It's not good for collectors who want to collect every card, but it will be good for players like me who want more cards to experiment with. I also have tons of gold and dust that need some place to go.
Yeah I usually buy each adventure or pre-order when they come out, so my year of Hearthstone just got a bit more expensive too :/
yes, that's my point.
I was thinking "cool, this year i get 2x25$ and 1x 130 Cards, while i can use all the gold to buy packs from the 130card release. This would have been the best year for me since the HS release and the worst for Blizz... they just turned it 180° and still try to play it like the players would win.
Even if they gift us 50 or even 100 packs it would still be a massive scam on us, because we have to pay more!
I agree it's a money grab decision. A lot of us probably wont have to spend too much next release because of all the dust we can get if we choose. But yea for a lot of players like me, probably spend $100 every 4 months to get the common cards and rares of each new expansion.
I don't understand why people are saying it's a ripoff. You can literally not pay a cent on this game, dust whatever you don't need and craft the best deck. All for free!
I'm sorry you want to be a completionist and have all the cards, yes that will cost money, but there is no need to do so just to play/be competitive at hearthstone.
I especially laugh when people want to be completionist and complain about quality of expansions in the same thread! If the expansion quality sucks THEN JUST CRAFT WHAT YOU NEED AND IGNORE THE REST, why would you want a boogymonster or genzo the shark anyway?!

I don't know where you got the impression there would be any less than 2 big expansions this year, considering they said they were moving to a 2 expansion/1 adventure per year model before they changed it to 3 big expansions per year just today.
You can easily save enough gold to buy packs that give you most of the rares and commons that are actually played. Same for dust. There are always only few playable legendaries which you can craft from savings.

You really dont get it, do you?
They take "pay 25$ to get ALL cards (with legendarys) + save your gold for 4 month" away from you. When was the last time you got 5 legendarys from packs worth 25$?

They take so much away and you even defend them?
Sorry what have they taken away? I'd rather have a 130 card set with 9 class legendaries and 8-10 more on top of that than the ability to buy 5 legendaries for $25.
i hate open pack. 70% of expansion= trash card. weak vs aggro, less effective vs control.Even RAG and other card gone, still no place for them to play in deck. trash tier card.
MSG= 60 pack 1 legendary and 12 epic. even only 1 legendary, but got many epic suppose to be very happy. however, all is trash card. dust all. craft 1 aya & kazakus. never look back again. trash card.
Old god= 60 pack. get 2 x duplicate legendary, and 5 epic still is good deal.put 1 in druid deck. dust 1. i only craft 1 legendary to play cthun deck at the end. due to 90% are trash card.

3 expansions in a year is a ripoff. Especially considering that they print such a high ratio of trash in these releases.
what a scam. never spending another penny on this ripoff game.
