i mean, thats true and all, but they arent reset to rank 20. If the player you are playing against is rank 20, that means they were lower than rank 11 last season AND they havent played enough yet this season so as to rank up to a higher ranking. Seems unlikely to run into a whole lot of 7 legendary type players at rank 20. Maybe rank 14-16....
You know high rank players got the reset as well ? it will take a couple of days for everyone to be back at their rank
I know, I was just hoping matchmaking took other factors into consideration (games played, games won, class levels, number of cards unlocked, etc).
Nope, not even in Casual does it do this. You either get matched based on Ranking (In Ranked, duh-huh) or on a hidden Match Making Rating (MMR).
This MMR in Casual does more or less what you want, in that it matches you against people that have a smiliar MMR (and thus skill level) and adjusts every time you win or lose.
If you are getting frustrated in Ranked, then Casual is probably the better mode for you to play in right now, till the congestion at the bottom of the rankings is cleared a bit.

I have a strong suspicion that some ranked players trying to get the golden portrait will deliberately tank their rating (concede many games in a row) just so that they can start from the bottom of the ladder and get easy wins that go towards getting that portrait. I've won a few ranked games where someone concedes right at the start of the match and so I suspect that's what is going on when you sometimes encounter really good players at low ranks.
Just pity them, as they clearly didn't make it to legendary last season. If they're any way decent they'll be up in the higher ranks after a couple of days.
if you have a good rank (i dont, i only got to 9) you start well above rank 20. i even started at 19.
but i think people are just going in like "well im already rank ~15 so let's try some crazy stuff, and if i lose all the way down to 20 i'll just go back to my real deck to level again"

^^^ this.
With the resets its a good time to try out new decks and see how they fair in ranked with out having to worry about your ranking tanking to far.

r20 Priest with 5 Rares, 0 Epics, and 0 Legendaries matched against a r20 Warlock with 7+ Rares, 3+ Epics, and 5 Legendaries.
:P
Yes. It is tough. Just have to hang in and get more packs, until the good/tenured players level up.
There are 3 kinds of people in the world. Those that can count and those that can't.
"God made man but Warlock Zoo decks made them equal..."
Just play a budget deck. Tons available via the internets...
Just got matched against a Golden Priest...

I think best thing is to farm gold from casuals, play ranked for rank 20+ and wait 2 week before season end, then play ranked.
Im a new player too, Im going to play some ranked today and see how it goes but I expect to get rank 20 or 19 today, max.
Thanks for the information.
I'd rather play Ranked to work on unlocking Golden Priest, but switching to Casual for a few days sounds like a good idea.
