I understand what you are saying. I was putting in a lot of time playing MOBAs and then it sort of dawned on me one day that I should probably quit. It wasn't a good habit. Games were relatively long and every game was so critical to my rating that it made losing really suck. Combine this with the fact that so much relied on who you randomly got teamed with and it drove me crazy. It was also impossible to respond to the rest of humanity in any way while in game which drove my partner crazy. One day I thought about it and just quit cold turkey and am glad I did.
Having been through that, I have spent a ton of time thinking about it and I honestly don't feel that way about Heartstone. Games are relatively short, losing one game isn't a huge deal unless you are aiming for the very top of the ladder, and there is actually much less RNG involved than there was in a MOBA because you don't have to rely on random teammates (I might still be playing MOBAs if you could mulligan your teammates :P) . Sure there are certain decks that are more powerful, but there are people that have made legend with every class and practically every style. If you build a strong creative deck and play it well you can make legend.
Yes there will be frustrating moments. I was playing arena yesterday with a control warrior I was really happy I drafted and the first game I was sure I had my hunter opponent beat when he dropped Cairne, Rag, Crush on turns 7,8,9. I was like ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??? But I walked away, ate a snack, came back and made a really nice play to win my next game.
If you are serious about it make sure you track your stats, have a look at your weak match ups and challenge yourself by trying to build a deck that is both fun for you and has a positive win %. Sure, maybe you can't make it to top 16 with your pet deck but you can definitely be competitive.
Honestly having played MOBA, RTS, FPS and poker games competitively Hearthstone is really low stress by comparison. If you are the type of person that is stressed by competition in general you should probably avoid competitive games.
If your control deck loses to aggro then it's not doing a good job controlling is it? The meta from 1-5 is starting to fill up with warlocks but it's still pretty diverse and there's a whole host of decks just sitting there preying on them for free wins. You have to adapt to rise above.
The reason your pet deck feels underpowered and frustrating to play is because there are probably better card choices to be made. While your sweet combo wins some of the time, playing boring old Chillwind Yeti might be the better choice for most match-ups.
Learning from netdecks is valuable. Even if you're just picking up on a few card choices you thought were underpowered but are worth considering, not to benefit from that is just willful ignorance.
i haven't played the game in a little under a week. i still like it, just sort of burnt out. it's very fun and aesthetically pleasing imo. BUT if you aren't having fun, don't play the game. enough said.
Semioteric....Dude you are basically me. Same thing, Dota 2, Poker and going cold turkey. Havent played Dota in a month and a half, don't miss it 1 bit. Hearthstone nice filler, Fills the competition side while being shorter and Don't feel the need to spend money to watch the pro's and make my characters look cool like I did with dota. No nightmare partners that just upset you in 50 minute games. The goal is to reach legend which is attainable if you really put in the effort but if you just wanna screw around and go on arena runs you can do that too. HS is a win, sorry OP.
It will be the most fun when the game is completely out for all platforms. Right now only computers and iPads can play. When I can play on the toilet at work on my Android phone, then it will be fun.

Also dont play ranked, I see a lot of interesting decks in casual mode.
I wanted the achievement so I have a signature!

Same with any game, if you get tired of it or it feels like a chore, just take a break for a few weeks.
