Hey, I've only been playing CW for a season, still working out the kinks. Just a question for the more experienced players- do you keep Shield Slam in your opening hand? If so, against what classes?
It depends, it can be key as a removal in the early game (specially vs Huffer), but it can be also very good in the late game. Go with your gut and think about what the other player's deck is about.
Keep it permanantly against aggro decks if you have bash. If you have bash+shield slam (against any matchup) and are going 2nd keep it. If you are facing a hyper aggro face deck(pirate rogue, aggrodin, facehunter) keep it. But don't keep it against midrange pally; they either have too many targets or the targets are too strong. For midrange pally Fiery Win Axe and Bite are much stronger

Yep.
I personally don't keep it. The card is more valuable in the late game to take out a high HP minion (like with shieldmaiden + shield slam combo)
You need it in late game
Sometimes you use it to deal 2 damage against aggro. So I keep it only when I got no other early game card against aggro.

I'd keep it against hunter, but then again, it might be hard to build up enough armor to be able to slam for more than 2.
Like many people said it is good in the late game, since your armor goes off the rails, and can take down big butts like Ysera or Chillmaw.
I'd rather mulligan aggressively for Fiery War Axe, Acolyte of Pain and Armorsmith.
Well Met!
