How did Sherlock Holmes make it to the finals? It's not even a parody like the previous Murlock Holmes. Shouldn't there be a rule that all cards must have a grounding in Warcraft lore? Sherlock Holmes sticks out badly from all the rest for being an already existing character. It'd be like having a card that turns your hero into Homer Simpson.
I'm a bit disappointed this week, nothing is really blowing my mind. I mean, there are some nice ideas, but nothing really out-of-the-box that triggers the 'wow' factor each week... :'(
It's gonna be a spicy winner tho, don't you worry. Even if the picks this week are bad. DansGame
Possession seems like the most fun card ever! I can see it now. Hero Power - Cast a spell for each spell you cast this game. Hero Power - Set Hero's Health to 15. Hero Power - Destroy all minions and discard your hand. Hero power - Shuffle the Map of the Golden Monkey into your deck. What happens when you copy Faceless Manipulator?
How exactly are finalists chosen? This was my first contest and my first entry got 10 upvotes. I don't know if that's good or bad, but I'm also wondering how they choose the finalists.

I understand that your feeling of consistency would like to see only warcraftish creations.
With wider range of creations it's easier to make something fun or unusuall.
From my point of view the main purpouse of weekly card design competition is fun/satisfaction from creating unusuall card.
If my card was able to reach finals, it means that enough people are satisfied with "no limit" rule.
Possession seems to be broken with Alexstrasza, since it becomes "restore yourself to 15 life every turn for 2 mana", which means you have 8 attack every turn and 15 health. Could you imagine how broken Jaraxxus would be if instead of a 3/8 weapon it had a 8/3 weapon and a hero power that restored himself to 15 life every turn? and I'm not even saying the aggro implications that would had since you would only need 7 damage to finish your opponent on most games right after using this card.
I thought of that, Pretty sure you can't heal yourself past your heros max health. So with Alexstrasza you could heal to 8 hp. I believe this interactions been tested with major domo and alexstrasza before.
Regarding your point of just having to just deal 7 more damage the turn after you target alex. It is powerful and maybe the best target I can think of. My only defenses of that are; your opponent does have a turn to disrupt you, its quite mana intense so you wont be interacting with your opponents board, and your relying on a legend as a win con which lowers your consistency.
The interactions I fear are most broken are OTK plays with buffs like Power Overwhelming. ie, 7+ atk minion plus 2 PO would be OTK unless the possession minion and hero shared attack cooldown. Im not sure how the game engine would handle that tho im inclined to think you both could attack.

You'd have to get the Faceless in play with an Alarm o Bot or something but yeah no idea what would happen there. Best case they you could swap into another minion Hero I guess.
Same for Golden Monkey because after you play it all your cards are transformed to minions. Maybe if you got a Nefarian then stole a Possession from your opponent.
Deathwing would create an interesting scenario wouldnt it. The ultimate game stall? your opponents hero power might decide it.

The process for selecting finalists is detailed in all of our competition submission topics:
How do we determine the qualifying finalists? First, we'll pull up-vote data from each submission using the formula detailed below:
(ab) / (c) = x
Where, a = The total number of submissions on the same page as the submission. b = The total number of up-votes that the submission received. c = The total number of up-votes on the same page as the submission. x = The submission's final score.
The formula basically measures which cards stood out the most, with the necessary assumption that each page is about equal in overall submission quality. It will be the entries that receive the highest final scores that move on to the Final Phase.
The bottom line is that, although entries on the earlier pages of the Submission Topic are much more visible and thus receive many more up-votes than entries on later pages, you don't actually have to rush to get your entry in as soon as possible because the up-votes end up being weighted by what page your entry ends up on in order to determine its final score.
But wait, there's more! During each Weekly Card Design Competition, each Fan Creation Forum moderators will be given a Wild Card, which they can use to advance any one entry that they feel was initially overlooked or under-appreciated to the Final Phase, regardless of its final score. Wild Cards are our way of spicing things up a bit, but please don't ask to be given one or be upset if you aren't given one. These are just supposed to be fun. (Also, it should go without saying that, while we moderators are allowed to participate in the competitions, we are not allowed to benefit from Wild Cards.)
WTF? Why did so many people vote for Sara the Val'kyr? It's just blatantly OP. I think advertising these polls in the news is really bringing down the quality of the voters. At least this week, the know-nothings didn't succeed in edging out a legitimate card.

(...)
You can heal Ragnaros to 15 health. But I would not concern myself with that. Alex needs to survive a turn. If your 8/8 survives 9 or 10 mana worth of answers from your opponent, your are winning already. Its just an inconsistent tactic. Win more tactics don't pay out because while building your deck your goal is not to increase your win margin, but win percentage. A win is a win. If that would ever be a viable tactic people would prepare them self by saving a removal for Alex.
Besides, many decks have way beyond 15 burst damage.
I really liked your idea.
edit: Actually, now that I think about it, the situation mentioned is unlikely. You play Alex to put your opponent down to 15. Next turn you attack for 8 and switch heroes for another 8 damage. You just win without ever using your hero power if your opponent has no heal.
Grats to winner. cool concept. Almost skipped this week until I came up with possession. Happy it was received well. Probably needed some tweaking but id love to see something like that in the future.

Not to mention it looks disgusting the way the text is formatted.
yes, you can set your health to any number as long as the battlecry states so, Alex's battlecry SETS a number, doesn't heal for that number, you can see it with majordomo decks that appeared right after blackrock mountain, you can set your Ragnaros health to 15.

Congratulations to yababa! ^_^
I believe Puple already has the next competition theme discussion topic up, and it's a special one. =)

Surprised possession didn't break the token rule, since it needs different tokens for every card in the game.
Winner is a good idea, but seems ridiculously overpowered for the cost as a non-legendary.
Also I'm disappointed in the winner, it's RIDICULOUS and for some reason it's epic not legendary. And why does it cost 4 instead of like, 10?

Holy shit. Sherlock the secret hunter might be the funniest thing I've seen on this site.
