I got a golden Ysera a couple of days ago. I main Mage, Pally and Rogue, and I have all the legendaries I need for those classes except Vancleef(which I'm not interested in crafting ever anyway), The Black Knight and Sylvannas.
I have tried Ysera on both my Mage and Pally deck and I immediately took her out of my mage deck since Rag + Antonidas seem like enough late game even against ultra late game decks and she's never not a dead card against aggro or midrange decks while the free fireball duo can at least help me burn my opponents down before they can kill me. I haven't taken her out of my control pally deck but she does feel more of a win-more card since I rarely get a turn where I can play her, do nothing, and get away with it. I always check decklists and stuff everyday to keep up with the meta even though I never have time to grind ranked and IIRC I haven't seen a high ranking/legendary mage or pally using her.
So the question is, do I DE her for either The Black Knight or Sylvannas(leaning towards TBK btw)? There was a time a few months ago where she was considered "OMG BEST LEGENDARY IN DA GAME" but now I feel like only druids and control warriors can utilize a card like her and she's just too slow for everything else...
Decklist if it helps. Currently rank 10 but definitely could climb higher if only I could play for more than an hour a day.
The Sunwalker/s are TBK and/or Sylv subs lol. Not bad against aggro and can either trade efficiently or bait a silence against control decks just like what Sylv is supposed to do.
well if you disenchant her you will regret it one day because it is a golden legendary card, and she is really good, if you lack draw late game she can win you a game just by giving that extra edge with card draws or just be heal +12
Funny this is posted. Last night in arena, a Paladin used Ysera and got "awakens," the only card that could've cleared my board and put me in lethal range. That said, she's great. Don't ever DE unless you have already. Imo, goldens are just a luxury. Sylvanas Windrunner has been slighted ever since the nerf, takes awhile to do something and is played around easily but The Black Knight is amazing in this taunt heavy meta, put in rush decks for guaranteed facetime.

That's the thing about Ysera that I don't like though. That paladin had to do nothing and not die for a turn against someone with full board control and THEN pray to RNGsus that he gets ysera awakens and dodge the 80% chance of getting something else that is probably useless in his situation. The reintroduction of Ancient of Wars and Earth Elementals to the current meta makes me itch for The Black Knight. If I got a regular Ysera instead, I wouldn't hesitate in keeping her but I prolly won't use her a lot either.
I would say don't disenchant golden Ysera. But then, I'm not a budget player. If you're on a tight budget, and you're sure you're not going to switch out of your decks, I can see how disenchanting would be considered.
I think Sylvanas Windrunner is whatever. The Black Knight is so much more immediate, and Cairne Bloodhoof is mostly my preferred 6-drop. At least you can kill your own Sylvanas with Mage, but it's still too easy imo for an opponent to mess with.
(Note: Because with Cairne, after DeathRattle, you at least have another minion guaranteed. With Sylvanas, you go +1 minion and your opponent -1 minion *if* it works, but usually your opponent will be able to work things so Sylvanas gets garbage or nothing. Of course, both get stopped by Silence, but that's as it goes.)
If you see a post that you find objectionable, report it, it helps keep the forum clean. But be aware people are allowed a lot of latitude.
If you find my posts to be rude, objectionable, or whatever, well, I got tired of writing polite TL; DR (Too Long, Didn't Read) posts at crybaby whiners. So now I just make it short and nasty.
If you find that funny, well and good. If you find that sad, that's even better.
If you use Leeroy on a paladin (which you should), Nightmare plus a BoK, can be a match winner. So basically you can fit her in your deck but you should build a bit around her. Another nice combo can be Laughing Sister with Argent Protector: you basically draw out 2 minions to attack her or waste an AoE plus a minion. I'm not saying she fits best in there but you can work things out. Good luck
Sounds like a midrange Pally deck if it has Leeroy, BoKs and Argent Protectors... And here I am thinking Ysera is too slow for a control deck. I also only have a 20% chance of getting a Nightmare from Ysera every turn anyway, so I don't want to build around an assumption that I'd get one from her before she's dealt with or before I'm dead.
I would say don't disenchant golden Ysera. But then, I'm not a budget player. If you're on a tight budget, and you're sure you're not going to switch out of your decks, I can see how disenchanting would be considered.

Yeah, I'm a f2p player. No gold or dust right now. I DE every non-mage/pally/rogue class card I get to craft the stuff I need instead of hoping to get them from packs. I really only see Sylv as a great midgame silence/tink bait like Cairne for my lategame to be uncontested. TBK is simply pure value in this meta though. Taunts phased out of the meta before because everyone was crafting TBK, but with so many faceroll decks these days, TBK's existence isn't enough reason anymore for people to not put their heavy taunters in their decks.
I'm almost set on DEing her but if I see a high-ranking/legendary mage/pally using Ysera I might be convinced not to. Last time I did was strifecro post-pyro nerf but he made the deck after he already got to legend so he was probably just experimenting with a no-pyro mage deck.
Look. Every card has it's risk. If you're going to play Ysera thinking you will only draw 1 card from her and you only have 20% chance of getting what you want then yes you can consider it a gamble. If you would play her in a situation where you're low on cards ( and maybe your opponent is too), situation very likely to happen if you only carry nat pagle ( which most likely ends being destroyed with the first removal your opponent has ) and lay on hands, then you can consider it a card draw + big body for a late game in which both you and your opponent don't have any options. Your paladin deck could very much benefit from it, considering you have enough sustain to get to end game. ( personally i would use 2 argent commanders instead of twilight drake since it's less situational but that's your call ). If you want to keep your deck as it is then you should disenchant Ysera and build TBK since it fits better, but what i tried to say is you can make her work in a somewhat different paladin deck if you'd want. ( i don't see her working well in a mage or rogue deck at all ).
Thanks. I'll think more about it. I guess I just don't go through the ultra lategame fatigue phase often enough even against druids to truly value Ysera's card draw. In my rank at least, Druids play their hands quite fast. Either they kill me or I overwhelm them with card advantage simply because they were a bit inefficient with their cards. I'd love to play a control warrior with it but all I get are faceroll warriors. The games against other slower/midrange-y decks(mage, priest, shaman) also end quite fast, before either player runs out of cards.
The issue with Ysera in a Paladin deck is the fact that she provides no concrete advantage the turn she's played and can't close out games as quickly as some other cards. It's a conflict of style alongside just having better alternatives in terms of legendaries. Paladins more often than not prefer to force the opponent to overextend with a multitude of control cards, so having something that can force the game into burn territory for Paladin to finish off the battle of attrition is favorable. Rag ends games on a whim, Tirion has all the pressure in the world once Ashbringer comes into play, Leeroy has amazing reach, and the other chosen legendaries have enough of an effect to either extend it to late game or steal the mid-game away before the opponent can prepare counterplay as they ready for late game.
Just my two cents as to why Ysera disappeared into the foreground. The view of late game is no longer "get more ahead", rather, "end the game now"
I would say it just depends on what type of decks you enjoy playing. If you like playing more control then I would hang on to her, especially since she's golden. That's rare, I have a golden Rag and wouldn't DE it ever, then again Rag fits in alot of my decks. Now I will say based on personal experience Ysera has won me many a game, seriously too many to count, I think she is viable in alot of decks, but mainly control based / late game decks. I don't think I can choose for you, but I would keep her.
I was lucky to pull 2 Ysera from free decks. One a golden. I dusted it straight away, the other is going nowhere. I'm not shallow, gold cards mean nowt to me ;) just a good way to get dust.
Ysera and BK, keepers.
I had Cairne, but dusted it after a bit, when I realised Sunwalker is as good. Instead of another 4/5 on death, you get a divine shield + taunt to begin with, and she only costs 100 dust.
I also dusted the beast, and King Muckla, I don't like to give my opponents anything! Also whenever I faced the King, I found him easy deal with, using those bananas. Got myself deathwing, which is fun when it works.
Ysera can be good in a pally deck, because you could be holding Ashbringer or Truesilver Champion and have at least some control over the board at cost of your health, and Ysera if she survives will help you win greatly. Getting 7-6's for 4 mana, and 3-5 faerie dragons (laughing sisters) is just awesome, let alone the burst damage from Ysera awakens and nightmare, and dream is just really funny if they drop one of their biggest cards (just dont do it to Rag since its like giving immunity until its fireball time again
