i unpacked him, for a second time, after i dusted him the first time. What is your opinion on the card, playable, good in any way? or better off as 400 dust
He makes for a nice lategame comeback sometimes, and if you can keep him in play several turns he can be very ouchy. If you play him as a wincondition, you should add manipulators and maybe malygos (same effect from a damage pov). Double or even tripple Velen is hardly possible to play around against.

I like him. In the proper deck he can cause all kinds of problems for the other person. Bottom line is he is a 7/7 for 7 with a power that means he cannot be ignored and if he is left alone the game ends a turn or 2 later.
the combo with soul priest is pretty funny. Two mana to do 4 damage every turn. With double shadowform it would be a 2 mana fireball every turn which is super cute. The difficulty is keeping velen alive once they realise hes causing them to get fireballed every turn.
after double shadowform, prophet velen --> fireball to the face for 2 mana.
if velen survives, the dream is faceless manipulator for a 2 mana pyroblast (ASSUMING IT STACKS)
alright lets break this down, first off, he only effects spells that you cast, so lets first see how many spells are getting effected.
and finally
most of which are not usually within the priest deck, unless your building a specific combo. so unless your using all of these cards, then it`ll be difficult to suggest using velen. sure there is the hallarity of using shadow form twice and dealing 6 damage for 2 mana each turn, though the chances of you getting all 3 cards within 1 game and for velen to survive long enough to profit from it is unlikely.
also majority of these cards will be used up in the early game and thus will not get any benefits from velen since he is a 7 cost minion.
the only card I can see this being good with is mind blasts as a finisher. with velen costing 7, and mind blast being 2, you can play both within 1 turn and deal 10 damage to your opponent, similar to a pyroblast except costing 9 mana and 2 cards. though getting those 2 cards will be the difficult part. and if you happen to have the 2nd mind blast you can deal another 10 damage the next turn if your velen some how survives the next turn.
or if you have a pint sized summoner, you can cast velen for 6 and both mind blasts doing 20 damage in 1 turn. though that is 3 cards in hand and some how keep the summoner alive for the final turn.
so what the full deck would look like would be a control deck that will have plenty of taunts and large minions to stall the enemy until you can get those cards while also some how dealing 10-20 + whatever heals they used to get them down to the kill range. similar to how a mage with double pyroblasts will try to do. so it`d be a deck full of taunts, and large minions with defenders
Though all in all, I would still keep a copy of this card, legendaries aren't easy to come around and when expansions start showing up, this card may have great potential with other spells coming down the line.
He still has value as a 7/7 for 7 even if silenced which makes him decent in a control priest deck. Add in the fact that most priests use thoughtsteal any spells you get from that work too, an 8 damage soulfire you stole earlier is always welcome. In the proper deck that can bait out removals earlier or has other big threats Velen is a great card.
I have him in my Priest deck. He normally gets silenced or removed pretty quickly. But when he doesn't, the Holy Fire that I usually save for late game is certainly handy - dealing 10 damage and healing 10 life. :)
great card but situational, as stated above 10dmg holy fire and 10 heal can win a lot of games and even still he is a heal 7 and a huge presence on board
I think he is ok. I guess, at the very base level of things, I like to compare him to Guardian of Kings, which is generally seen as a decent paladin late game card. So, 7 cost, 5/6 + 6 heal. Velen, for 9 cost, is 7/7 + 4 heal + future heal if survives + spell synergy.
Though, 7/7 is a bit *meh*, it is susceptible to Big Game Hunter, and I'm sure a decent opponent will try to remove him. So, for such a heavy costed minion, I'm not sure I'd be including him at the expense of a Ragnaros/Ysera for instance, which are more game changing.

It does stack. If he lives for a turn you can also holy fire for 10 and heal yourself for 10.
