I see so many of them watching twitch streams and I don't understand why they are good at all? The stats are really bad for a 2 drop and there are so many easy ways to counter the 2 1/1's.
It's a super sticky minion with lots of combo potential with other strong cards (if I drop a creeper, you drop a minion to deal with it, next turn I can knife juggler+abusive for a total of 6, while playing a 3/2, 2/1, and two 1/1's; that's a lot of pressure for a 2 turn 3 card combo). Often times, you simply can't hit it because you can't deal with the 2 1/1's immediately (and if you have no respect for 1/1 you should play Paladin and learn it) which can easily come back to haunt (puns) you later.
You are not seeing Haunted Creeper as what it really is.
It's a sticky minion... meaning that it'll likely survive AoE clear. Often, the opponent won't pop it since they'll waste ressource on an ''unimportant'' body. On the long run, it does well in aggro decks. It synergizes with Kill Command in Hunter. It gives Zoo a good body to trade to gain board control and card advantage early. And it'll deal a lot of damage that you won't recognize. It's just a safe drop for decks that aims to take an early control of the board. Dealing with Creeper often result in a poor turn for the opponent.
On the other hand, it's not a high pressure minion.

Haunted+Juggler is probably the most common combo in meta right now in consideration to people running rogues, hunters. When you see the creeper played, almost always expect a juggler to come next.

And all of them are things you don't want to use on 1/3rd of a 2 drop.
The card is a mess to deal with. If he's left alone he can do up to 3 damage on a target. However, killing the 1/2 means you give your opponent double the damage on the field and, chances are, you don't have the mana to do what you need to do AND clear all of the parts of the creeper. And when you do..it's a 2 drop: a small investment.
Worse, most of the decks that use him have synergy. Zoo tends to buff the creeper up into a 2/3 with taunt that turns into 2 1/1s or PO that can slam for 5 then still leave minions on the board. Hunters get a beast which is more than enough for midrange decks (aggro doesn't use him)
He's one of those cards that's hard to see the value, similar to Bloodmage Thalnos or Paladin's Hero power. But it's there and once you see it, you see why people prefer a 4/3 with deathrattle over a 4/5.
Minions that are hard to kill sometimes cause the 30-0 games. (with the person with 0 life having to spend every turn clearing the board or get over-run.)

Haunted Creeper pretty much is a 3/4 worth of stats for 2 mana. Thats why its played and its sticky.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

Not sure if hyped yet.
Yeah this is an important card, it can fulfill aggro and control purposes and is probably the best 2 drop other than card draw trades.
Hefty board presence for 2 mana.
if you are saying that, you are probably a newbie, you have much to learn ;)
what about the worth of haunted creeper if you don't have argus, knife juggler ......
