Everyone seems to be in agreement that it's a great card, and in many cases the first legendary you should go for.
I personally don't get why. I'm open-minded and can get convinced, but at the moment I just don't get why.
What I see is a weaker Kobold Geomancer, but with the Deathrattle effect. It's not by any means the worst card I can think of, but I just don't seem to get the "Wow, best legendary ever!"-viewpoint either. Can anyone explain to me why it's so much better to get than just a kobold? You save like 1560 dust as well if you're not lucky to get it through a pack as well!
Oh, and another thing; How do you change the spacing between lines so it's not so big? >.>
...replaces itself in the same fashion as Loot Hoarder.
...is a magnet for removal.
Can you name another 2 drop that offers that type of versatility? That's why this card is powerful. Not because it's capable of drastically swinging a game, but because of the guaranteed advantage you command over various facets of the game by using it.
OP, I totally get your point, I have been bashed for hating on Thalanos before, and I still am not convinced it's such an amazing, must have card. Sure, it's great value, I get all the arguments, but it's a weak minion. Kobold can survive a mage ping, Thalanos can't. Yes he gives you a card when he dies, so whoop'ti'doo, you have an extra card in hand, but your amazing Spell Damage minion is dead. Kobold can trade well, unless you play particularly bad, he will trade on your terms, not your opponent's.
Sounds like you expect a 2 health minion to live through a single turn... its nice to dream. Take the fact, you put down a small minion and you dont expect it to live, hell you put down a big minion - you shouldnt expect it to live. Thalnos is a cheap spell booster you play at the time you play the spell. The fact it gives you a card in death means, its death though inevitable did not cost you card advantage.

Nozdormu wins you every game where you opponent has to go to the bathroom on turn 9.
With a 2 health minion, there is a chance he will live, especially if you have the board/a good taunt. With a 1 health minion, you're not hoping he won't die, you know that he will!
It's really simple. Thalnos is better because you get a card from it, plain and simple. It gives you the option of spell power without dedicating a spell to it. I think it's a fantastic card, but I don't think it'd be the first legendary I'd buy, or even 5th.
I've noticed that all legendaries, even ones that aren't that great, have the psychological effect of setting off a red flag in your opponent's mind that they must be removed ASAP. In this light, Thalnos is a good card to bait out those nasty Hexes and Polymorphs early on so as to reduce the chances of them being used on one of your big guys later on in the game.

except thalnos is actually really good...
Not disregarding the fact that Thalnos is good, I would never waste an Hex or Polymorph in it, specially since if you have a Polymorph, you're a mage (in normal circumstances) so you can just use hero power >_>
there are couple reasons why talanos is so damn good.
1. He makes your deck faster by drawing him its like you draw 2 cards therefore you might draw what you are looking for. Since there are no search creature or spell cards yet in this game draw mechanic is very important.
2. your spells hit harder in eg. you have 4 mana and innervate drop thalanos use swipe, clear entire board.
3. you are forcing your opponent to overload usually like he will burn spell or hero ability to kill thalanos.
4.If he survives he is there to finish off or to wound minion so your argent commander can kill yeti etc.
Thalnos is often good for an immediate combo with a spell and for the card draw, not to have a strong presence on board. So yes, in some situations, the Kobold is better :)
Nothing compares to the excitement of playing the ETC. Usually it ends up my opponent and me just continue playing really dumb stuff (like throwing 5 1/1 into a buffed Acolyte und stuff. (Unranked of course)
Don't know why, but I haven't had a match so far, where playing the ETC didn't remove the entire "competitive play" out of the equation.

gives you board advantage by combo'ing with spells and card advantage thru deathrattle.. nuff said. geomancer is just bad
Bloodmage Thalnos...

As for the spacing. Hit "Enter"
to get this much space
Hit "Shift+Enter"
to get this much
Greatly fill Rogue decks!

Well, to me it doesn't seem like you're not convinced about the power of the card, you look like you're not convinced about the power of drawing.

Have fun with your 9 mana legends, ill have fun winning before that turn.

...Too young to die, too drunk to live...
As good as it is, Thalnos is still a boring card :P
I'd go for a bigger drop like Ysera or something that can brighten your day with a fun match when you need some game time.
