The devs didn't plan well for the power level of highlander decks - the bottom line is that highlander decks are insanely strong right now, and need more of a counter than bomb warrior, which is tier 3 at best right now.
Pure paladin and Spell mage have to be sacrificed for BLA to be able to counter highlanders, sorry. Poor design honestly, they have created a situation they really can't nerf or buff their way out of this time.
The lesson to the devs is this- to just pull back on the goddam powercreep - or you are going to get situations like this more often going forwards. The game needs cool effects, not snowball power.
Highlander decks are not strong lol there is not a single tier one highlander deck right now and impact of albatross on the highlander decks are so little since there is only two highlander card in the entire deck probability of drawing one of the albatross before needing the zephrys or alex is pretty high.
Stop servicing highlander decks like if they are OP they are not over powered even without albatross not even close to be over powered.
Are we playing the same game? Highlander Rogue is incredible right now. Highlander Demon Hunter shits all over combo demon hunter. Highlander hunter is almost as good as aggro hunter. Highlander mage is arguably the strongest mage deck right now. All these decks are easy 60% win decks in the hands of a good pilot.
You are easily wrong!
With 10+1 legendaries highlander rogue is most expensive deck right now not many can build it plus it is weaker than non highlander version of the deck
Highlander mage is too much rng so it is not consistent you either have overwhelming game or getting crushed pretty hard. Spell mage is more consistent but many people don't know how to pilot it or getting punished by albatross.
Highlander Hunter is shit right now dragon hunter is way better and face hunter is just better.
you see right there is not much of highlander decks plus only mage have no alternative to highlander.
Would have preferred to see Albatross stat line changed to 2/3 instead of changing the mana cost. I think the mechanic that it introduces is necessary to allow an option to disrupt certain types of decks. The problem is that tech cards should have a downside, and the downside of Albatross is very small. Even if your opponent isn't playing Highlander or a pure deck, playing a 4/3 body that shuffles 2 1/1 dead-draws in to your opponent's deck is a good play (usually). The 4/3 body forces your opponent to either accept a 4-attack beating every turn, or accept the tempo disruption of drawing a 1/1. The 4 attack also allows it to counter-kill most 3 and 4 drops that it is going to be played towards. At 2/3, the Albatross would become much less of a threat, allowing you to more easily play around it and, in some cases, causing a more typical downside for playing it as a tech card.
I 100% disagree, the health and attack stats doesn't address the issue at all. They could have made this a 2/2 and it still would have seen the same amount of play. It was played for the effect, not the body. Therefore focusing on the body would have been a mistake.
I never thought it should have been nerfed in the first place, but adding 1 mana to it has done absolutley zero to the power level of the card. Anyone with half a brain could see it's the mechanic that shuts down decks, not mana cost. Playing it 1 turn later does nothing to make spell mage / pure pala better.
Make a huge diference vs tempo decks, 4/3 for 3 manas is not great but don't is a huge tempo loss because 4 attack can trade well vs 3 ou 4 manas minions, 4/3 for 4 is a completely diferent history because the opponent can trade a 2 manas 3/2 minion for your 4 manas minion, in tempo matchs 1 mana is the diference between broken and unplayable.
The point is not deny the tech aspect of the card but make worse when play vs other decks, no problem the card be good vs some archetypes as long don't is a brainless inclusion in everything, the same principle works with Flare, was only 1 mana before and every hunter deck put x2 because have little to nothing penaulty vs non secret decks and was extremely good vs secret decks, for 2 manas make the card a lot worse vs non secret decks.
Tempo decks didn't run Albatross. Only real toxic control decks ran it.
And still, it wasn't a great card before and not now, it's just obnoxious as all hell. Mana increase did nothing to change this
I run it in my Wild decks cause the Highlanders have too much support. Need to deny them all that advantage.

We'll have to agree to disagree. The 4 mana cost really didn't do anything to give the card a downside to play. Personally, I think there needs to be a disruption to Highlander and pure mechanics if the Highlander and pure cards are going to have such large bonuses attached to them. But tech cards need to have a downside, and right now, even at 4 mana, a 4/3 body with a positive effect attached doesn't really have a downside. You barely lose tempo playing a 4/3 on 4, and the 4 attack demands a response. Now imagine a 2/3 on 4? At 2/3, your opponent has the option to ignore it without a lot of impact.
Maybe if the cost was bumped to 5 mana. My concern at 5 mana is that we get close to unplayable at that point. Finding the sweet-spot between playable tech card and EMP Operative is difficult if all you do is mess with the mana cost.

No I play 5 different classes 8 different decks rotating a deck after each game. Also stats doesn't back you up I play both highlander and spell mage they have both similar winrates check it again. Spell mage is harder to pilot that lowers its avarage winrate what I am saying is it performs better than highlander mage if the players knows how to pilot it.
Also I am saying albatross nerf is not enough not because of highlander mage and spell mage or any other highlander deck I am saying it is not enough because of ress priest is able to constantly resurrect the damn albatross and ruins the all sort of decks.
