We all know of Deathrattle Priest using Weasel Tunneler.Admittedly it has good synergy with the Priest DK heropower but really what is stopping people to use this card as a staple early drops in their control decks?
Well there's nothing stopping you from playing it of course. I know when weasel priest was popular that a hearthpwn article did note that it was inconsistent and win condition wasn't certain. (uncompetative)
Because it is a terrible card and you don't want to draw a 1/1 when you are desperate for a board clear?
But it can delay your opponent too, and if you hav a control deck that dont have any good early minion that are synergistic to your gameplan why not?
@Fedes94 Yes I am talking about Wild.
As you said, in priest it can make sense if you want a deathrattle card (Quest) or as a ping with the Deathknight. And maybe there is another synergy I don't realize at present. But in any "normal" control deck, it is a waste of a slot. Under what circumstances do you want to draw Weasel Tunneler ? If it is that bad that you want your opponent to draw it, why would you want to play the card yourself at first? Moreover, your opponent might not even draw it because the game is over earlier. Then you played it and he didn't. Might be a reasonable draw from a discover, but as a deck slot without additional synergy I would never include it.

There will probably be a few people making attempts with the new priest cards coming out but winrate will matter to many people.
How does winrate matter when you play weasel priest? LOL
I was answering the "what is stopping people to use this card as a staple early drops in their control decks?" part of the question. If I missed the point of the thread then I withdraw my comment.

Not sure if hyped yet.

I don't know, maybe a 1/1 is not going to contest any minion, so it's basically useless against aggro or midrange?

Btw the weasel can also be use to screw with Reno decks, Spell Hunter, Priest decks or decks with low card draw.
