The only information I could find related to this was the fact that you will die if you play Reno Jackson, with the damage being dealt before his own battlecry triggers. It would indicate that in both of the above cases the functionality would be the same, damage before new minion battlecry, but Hearthstone has been inconsistent before with its handling of mechanics.
As I cannot test this myself, I was wondering if anybody has experience with these interactions or if somebody would be so kindhearted as to test them. Thank you.
I have not been (un)lucky enough to open an Unlicensed Apothecary yet, but I was curious about two interactions:
1) Does Violet Illusionist, played after Unlicensed Apothecary is already on the board, prevent the damage its own summoning would cause?
2) Does Light's Champion, played after Unlicensed Apothecary is already on the board, silence the demon before the damage is triggered?

Edit: Nevermind, I was able to find information on at least one of these. At least according to this person's deck guide the Violet Illusionist prevents its own damage.
Silencing it you still take 5 damage. Reno after it you would still die at 5
The deck guide you cite is correct. Violet Illusionist prevents self damage
