One turn people cant do anything, pretty interesting choise tell me about loatheb is broken. Ofc Mages and priests gets big hit by him but i still dont see a problem for that its broken card. Its pretty simple and easy to beat even with those classes if u play ur cards right.
I wouldn't say, 'can't do anything.' Loatheb doesn't affect the mana cost of playing minions, although he does swing the momentum further/over for the opponent.
I said he would be nerfed from the start, but it's not so simple as people make it.
Many times I have had him played against me and I was able to beat the enemy immediately after (no need for spells).
I think that the power can be overpowering at times, so maybe a nerf on the power would be enough? I don't know how to nerf him, but I would hate to see him destroyed as a card (as I think he's fun).
Maybe making him a Yeti or a 4/4 would be enough? I don't know... Maybe making it only +4 to spells?
Either reduce the board impact or the impact on the game state. Either way should be alright.
I don't feel that Loatheb is broken but he definitely is very powerful, especially if played at the right time to seal a win or prevent a loss. If you play him just because you don't have any other plays then he's not that problematic but still a mild nuisance. If someone plays a Loatheb and you weren't planning to play a spell anyway then he just becomes a meh 5/5 for 5.
Loatheb is a necessary 'evil' to keep Miracle Rogues at bay. Prior to Naxx, I didn't think Miracle Rogues would go away without a Gadgetzan nerf but damn, now I see that Loatheb is a masterstroke.
Also, Loatheb does not prevent spells outright, he just makes them very expensive. I have still won games because I was willing to cast one of my spells right after Loatheb hit the table.
I personally don't think Loatheb is broken. Unfortunately I also fear that he's going to be nerfed a few weeks after the final wing of Naxx is unlocked. He's just too popular and is being run in a majority of decks. I hate the very idea of nerfing a card simply because it's popular but when a card is being played in a majority of the decks, whether it actually is overpowered or not, is just asking to be hit with the nerf-bat.
That being said, if Loatheb ends up being nerfed, I hope they don't go overboard with it. I personally think his stats and cost are fine. The thing about him people bitch about and the reason he's played in so many decks is his effect. It does exactly what it was intended to do but perhaps a bit too well. So, if he does receive a nerf, I think (or perhaps I should say 'hope') it should be there.
If it were up to me to nerf Loatheb, I'd do it in one of two ways. Reduce the cost increase on spells from 5 to 4, or make it so the 5 mana cost increase is only applied to the first spell cast. That's it. Any more and there's a risk that he simply no longer performs the function he was originally designed for as effectively as needed.
All that being said, I personally don't feel he actually needs any nerf at all. He's just a brilliantly designed card. It's just the problem that there's very little to no risk in running him in nearly any deck built. Worst case scenario, your opponent had no spells or no intention to play any and you get a generic 5 cost 5/5, making him ever so slightly worse than a Stranglethorn Tiger. For a worst case scenario, still pretty damn good.
Its powerful sure but its not an end all card i mean it just screams win more to me. I can see a few instances where it could heavily swing a losing game but that would be few and far in between. Personally i tend to play it when i overextend my board and want to get one more turn out of it before it gets demolished...

Let me guess..
You were playing Miracle and some player just disrupted your combo and lost, right?
Loatheb just punishes your spells for ONE turn, you can still play minions without problem.
Its a counter card like UtH, TBK, Harrison, BGH etc.

Isn't broken at all.
Overall, I agree - though to be fair, TBK & Harrison are overpriced for their base body and BGH has a horrid stat distribution. Loatheb's body is basically on curve. There is no real price being paid for the ability.

I wouldn't say BGH has horrid stat distribution, he only fails the vanilla test by 1 point. True I'd rather him be a 3/3 to prevent dying to a 1 drop, but if he survives a 4/2 isn't terrible. Technically Loatheb's body is also 1 points under vanilla test, however there isn't a 5/6 or 6/5 at 5 mana so he's about as close as it comes.

Nope. People are just whining for me it is broken XD. I just wanted bring this up so i would see how many ppl thinks he is too OP and need nerf. Myself i dont see any problem with him :P
loatheb is fine as it is. the MOST I would balance with him is to make a clause where spells cannot cost more then 10, atleast that way, spells that normally cost 6-10 don't become unplayable that turn and you or your opponent can still play them.

Thus making it useless against Pyroblast and Mind Control - two of the main spells that people are going to want to postpone for a turn.
you can't compare loatheb to bgh and tbk, because they remove something from the board your opponent paid for, while loatheb (may be) prevents something to be played (for 1 turn).
All are counter cards, that's why I compared them.

the only time you can be sure loatheb counters something is when your opponent has a stealthed gadgetzan. loatheb is not a removal card that is why i think you can't compare him to bgh and tbk.
There are a couple of others... like a Mage pinging you down to exactly 10 health on T9.
Deal with Doomguard, Leeroy and MAYBE Flare first. Then worry about an on-cost minion who MIGHT delay an opponent from playing their ideal cards for one turn.

that wasn't the point. you still don't remove your opponents pyroblast. and you don't even know if he has it, although it is a tell.
If you remove the player before the spell, well I think that works.

Similar card to TBK or Harrison except not at all situational and hence needs nerfed.
I'd bet on it.

Yeah, let's nerf one of the few cards that helps counter miracle rogue and huntard. Because those classes just aren't quite ubiquitous enough already.
