Has there been any discussion from the developers on why the minion deathrattle is a 4/4? That just seems like such a strong card to have. I know it's for AoE protection, but a 4/4? Even on Turn 3, dropping a 4/4 minion is a strong play. So from one card, you have a card that sticks around for another turn and also becomes a strong minion for free.
If someone smarter than me can please explain the logic of it's mana cost to it's ability, can you try and tell me how this card is only worth a 2 mana cost? I know it can be silenced, but silencing it with an Owl that is ONLY a 2/1 just doesn't seem like a "fair" trade to me. I know there is also a Spellbreaker, but that is a Turn 4 card. Are we expected to not play a minion that can't break the egg on Turn 3? I'm not understanding it's the Nerubian Egg's cons, it just seems like there are more positives than negatives with this card.
It's a very positive card then. It was intended to be a very pushed card. See other 2 mana value cards: Defias Ringleader and Haunted Creeper. Both are technically 4/3's and 3/4's in stats. The "advantage" that they have is that they don't need anything else to you know, do stuff, where as a 0 attack minion like egg needs something else to attack, thus the extra point in stats.
Well, it requires a minimum of 2 cards and 3 mana to play and activate. I imagine that's a large part of it.
From a more number crunchy perspective - the initial body is a 0/2 (rated at ~1/2 mana), and the backup body is a 4/4 (roughly 3 1/2 mana) but the ability is hidden behind a deathrattle so it's given a 50% discount. .5 + 1.75 = 2.25, slightly ahead of curve but less than certain other cards.

Is it strong? Yes. Is it overpowered? Not from my experience.
Ancient Watcher is a 4/5 for 2 mana that also requires 2 cards to activate.
Needs more specific cards than the egg does. Egg just needs a stat boost of any kind. Watcher also doesn't provide aoe protection. The egg has a value for any aggro even if you don't have one of the many combos.
I feel it is just a really strong card, not necessarily overpowered. You can use a cleric to buff him up to 1/3 and get him dead for 4/4 or give him taunt with a sunfury protector. He also prevents aoe dmg from your opponents. However, the only downside to him is that throwing down a 3/2 on turn 2 may be better than this since a 3/2 would have a bigger impact on turn 3 rather than a 0/2 or even a buffed 1/3 at turn 3. Just my sentiments :D

Not a Mage player.

Thanks FOO(The Banner God)!

Moved to card discussion.
I'm so sure it will be nerfed it is in every deck
For its budgeting it does seem a little too easy to activate.
Though giving it "cannot attack" would relegate it too far.
I wonder if the deathrattle should be tweaked; 2x 2/2 perhaps.
