So I've been saving dust and I'm currently at exactly a 1000 dust. Like many people I'm obviously saving up for a legendary, but recently I've been thinking about just crafting the rares I need to make my decks playable. I've been trying to climb the ladder and just get stuck around rank 14 - 15. I feel like my decks just aren't good enough, because they are lacking the rares i need, such as, Injured Blademaster for my Preist and Spirit Wolf for my Shaman deck. I just feel like I never get the rares I really need, but at the same time I'm afraid to craft them because of the fact that I'm scared of pulling them the second I craft them. To be honest, it's also kind of the reason I don't dare to craft a Legendary either. Does anyone have any suggestions?.
Crafting 16 rares is 100x better then crafting a legendary, When i was new I was at 3* master rank before I even had any legendaries, but my decks worked well because I had many cards that were strong instead of one really strong one.

I totaly agree with you, since having a strong consitent deck with a couple rares in it is most likely pretty better than a deck lacking the rares and having a RAG in it or something. Thank you a lot! I guess I'll just go and craft the rares i need then. :)
I personally believe that cards like Rags and Cairne and possibly Alex, and Bloodmage and finally Leeroy, are essential to making a good deck, with such a fast changing meta, those cards have remained a near requirement for all decks. Now there are several purples worth going for, Faceless and Big Game mainly. But even in order to make a good shammy deck half of those are essential.
its way better to craft the rares you need over a rag or leeroy. Especially if they are top tier rares like lighting storm, spirit wolves, azure drake. yes the legendaries are nice but you can easily sub them out. I've made it to rank 5+ with out any legendaries in my decks. the just add a bit of late game strength to your deck.
Having numerous cards that are important to your deck is better than having a single card that's important. Getting the rares/epics should help you rank up faster, and thus earn dust faster. So they should pay for themselves eventually.
If you're lacking many rares to construct most viable decks, then you should definitely be crafting rares. Legendaries are a premium and should only be crafted when you have a solid pool of bread and butter rares.
Alright! Thank you everyone! You have definitely convinced me to go and craft those rares. The only thing that kind of holds me back though, is that, depending in my luck I've had recently, I wouldn't surprised if I open the rares I just crafted. Is it still worth it? I only lose 80 dust if i would open them.
Ah. I see what you mean, lol sorry abt that. I think you may have things a little mixed up though. You do not get gold by ranking up but simply from winning 3 games, ranking up has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Crafting rares vs crafting legends is a matter of current gain vs future gain. Crafting rares now will allow your decks to be much better and may help you rank up more but rares are very easy to get and you will eventually get multiple duplicates of them from packs. So right now, you gain more from the rares but in future you will have wasted dust. 1 Legendary may not impact your deck as much but there's less chance of you actually pulling that legendary from a pack and waste your dust.
My style is to sacrifice right now so that I can use my dust as efficiently as possible and get the full collection as fast as possible. Since there's no real benefit to ranking anyway. However, some people like to indulge now and play better decks but you will take longer to get the dust to craft those legendaries eventually anyway.
One Legendary, cant win a game.16 rares can ranked you up very fast. Do not scare to craft if you need something.I craft Bloodmage Thalnos and at the next pack i opened Thanlnos was there.but thats life, thats RNG,thats CCG.

I don't have anything mixed up, you just think I mean it's a direct result. It's an indirect result. If you're ranking up that means you're winning games, which means you're going to get gold.
As for getting the cards after you open them, I wouldn't think of it as you losing dust because you opened something you just crafted. You get what you need now and if you open it again it just helps you get what you need in the future.
i completely agree, been playing since long before open beta, when we were just figuring out how to play the game, and the firt crd I saved up for was Rags, have not regretted it. Due to some large success in the arena with a lot of dust rewards I have since then crafted not only Rags but also: Cairne, Geddon, Alex, Bloodmage, Ysera, (I got rid of my Nat with the nerf but I had that) , Grom, and Antonidas and Cenarius, and have only pulled a single duplicate of all those cards, a Gold Cenarius which I melted down for a bunch of blues and purples. I have also gotten 4 Nozdormu and 3 Lorewalker Cho but thats not the point. I now find myself being able to get Purples I need when i need them due to an excess of Dust even when saving up for my next Legendary, I have all the blues so thats not even a problem, and with such a fast shifting meta, those legendary cards that remain a constant variable have allowed me to make new Legend Tier decks constantly. Its a long road but it pays off.
I agree with the crafting thing, you get what you get, nothin u cn do abt it. But I still have trouble seeing fully your reasoning, playing casual gets you just as much gold as playing ranked, its just ot as much fun not a way to prove yourself and not a way to get cardbacks. I hve a feeling there is something i am missing here so lets keep going until I find it.

It depends largely on your current legendary collection but cards like IN and spirits are highly used

I currently have Deathwing, Cenarius, Al'akir the Windlord and Prothet Velen. I mostly play Tempo Shaman and need spirits and lightning storm.

I fail to see how ranking up gains you more dust?

Ranking up means more gold, more gold means you play more arena or open more packs. More dust.
I do not believ you get gold from ranking up
