Take a look at the top meta decks. Ramp Druid (combo), Arcane Hunter (combo/burn), Miracle Druid (miracle/scam), Blood DK (extremely hard control), Frost DK (burn). I've climbed from Diamond 5 to ~1500 Legend and maybe 1 in 10 matchups were against a different deck than these 5. Every game just feels like your plays don't matter and you have no control over what's happening. It's virtually impossible to outrun a Ramp Druid or a Blood DK, or to outheal an Arcane Hunter. Aggro and midrange are completely gone. I don't even care about the power level, the meta has devolved to a circlejerk of a few absolutely toxic decks that demolish everything else and just kinda compete between each other. I don't think I've seen a Warrior, Shaman, Priest or Warlock since like 60 games. I've seen a tiny bit of Mage (guess what, Arcane Bolt burn combo). Demon Hunter (you guessed it - spell burn/combo) and Paladin (Jailer control).
Stormwind was the absolute worst experience in this game for me, ever. I really hope something is done about the top decks since I really don't want the meta to become Stormwind all over again. Something needs to be done. I'd honestly love to see a major overhaul patch that would buff all the underwhelming archetypes released this year (which brings up another problem of package/premade decks, but that's a different topic) and tune down all the major outlier cards like Guff, Denathrius and most importantly Brann.
Agree. Meta feels awful here are my suggestions. Hof: Guff and Brann. Adjust and change discover pool for DK blood dk especially removing the most problematic cards from discover pool and remove the possibility of discovering other rune cards than those you chose when building your deck. Maybe print a legendary in the future which allows you to discover other rune cards than those your chose.
Make shockspitter only target minions and buff it to a 3/2 or change devouring swarm to re-summon the minions who die not add them to your hand. Maybe adjust Rouge a bit too.
Then buff the underperforming classes slightly (not the Aggro cards.
I think combo decks are GOOD for the meta. HOWEVER, they should never be on line on turn 6. That ruins the fun for everyone. and the only way to beat a turn 6 otk? make yours go off on turn 5.
if an effective otk goes off on turn 5 that is really frustrating and bad design. If it goes off with appropriate set up then there is interaction.
and btw, "interaction" isnt just messing with someones hand like theotar. Remeber maly rogue and maly druid. those were combo decks that had to survive aggro and midrange, 6 piece combos. Those where the best combos, they felt satisfying to play AND lose against. Now we have shockspitter on turn 5 and 10/10 stealthed minions on turn 4 followed by 9/3 weapons on turn 6. that is stupid
