I'm a 'new' player (played at released then stopped before Naxx) and I rediscovered the game a good month ago after all the changes.
I decided to try to rank to 20 to get the reward to build my collection a bit before trying to get to coregame, if I may.
But damned, I'm stuck at r21/*** and get crushed by goldish players with powerful behemoth decks... Oo'
Why is there such monster so low in the ladder?! What can I do? If there is someone willing to give some advises, I'd be thankful.
Good game all and good day!
The one good thing about people in your situation is ya no longer need to reach rank 20 for the card back/chest reward. All you need to do is win 5 games in that given month. So if it's just the card back reward you're shooting for, this may be a little bit of relief for you. :)
Yes, I was happy to read that! But r20 gives a free card, does'n it? It could be useful to enhance my lil collection so far!
TBH not sure about the free card (I always get to at least r15 so I'm not sure). However I do believe that 5 wins gets you what reaching r20 used to give you (card back/gold/card). After the 5 wins, the rewards get better and better after reach each rank goal reached ( r15, r10, r5 ). Best of luck to you in coming back to the game. Feel free to add me if you play on the NA server. :)
That's very kind of you! I sent the request! :) see U in game then
So I have been experimenting with some stuff, and have come across a super cheap to make priest (anything you might have to craft is commons because it is all base and commons) basically you run a bunch of one drops (whatever the best ones you have are) a bunch of draw (I use loot hoarder, acolyte of pain, northshire cleric, power word: shield, and novice engineer), cheap buffs (I use dire wolf, unidentified elixir, and shadow ascendant) and the core of the deck is Tainted zealot x2, mindblast x2, and holy smite x2 for surprise burst and actually having a win condition. Basically the rest of the deck is up for whatever you have, cheaper the manacost the better, this is a hyper aggesive deck. Like if you don't have enough cards but have like wisps and snowflippers just run those because the goal is get chip damage, draw your whole deck, deal 22 to face in one turn.
There are a number of decks like this you can construct in many classes, throw caution to the wind, run all your burst, all your draw, and all the early game you can and try to deal chip damage into a burst finisher. It is cheap and it works up to rank 12 I would say.
Pro advice for new Hearthstone players : don´t play ladder for wins. As a new player u should focus on having fun with the cards u have and not get frustrated on ladder because of other ppl. Try Arena, maybe it´s something for u.
Edit: feel free to add me. I can help u with deckbuilding or help u in general with hearthstone.
it easy to get to rank 20. When I played on the other servers for the 1st time I manage to get to rank 15.
An few tips.
1)if you haven't done so go to solo adventure and complete the 1st wing of frozen throne for an free hero card(death knight)
2)play mage(mage has good basic card's that can easily be upgraded by commons) or hunter they can normally make cheap decks to reach rank 15.
3)look at all you class legendaries you should have atleast have 3 from the ones they gave you for free and see if anyone is good and if you want to built an deck around them.
4) and if you want make your collection publiek/download it with inkeeper and ask for help or go to deck if you use it right you will be able to see decks you can play with how much dust is missing.

It sounds like you don’t have the biggest of a collection. I wouldn’t worry a ton about your rank and try and have more fun with finding decks you like playing. In most games I usually find that I learn best by watching better players.
I also find many golden players at low ranks, especially in wild. I think standard might be easier for low ranks just because people usually play wild and low ranks for easy quest wins.
For years now hunter has always had pretty good cheap budget decks you can make because the midrange decks don’t usually run epics or legendaries.
I would suggest you just work on decks you like playing and getting more experience if you’re still fairly new. You’ll get rank 20 in no time don’t worry :)

When I registered here, I was a bit afraid to find some.... "unfriendly people", but I'm glad I think I found a nice and kind community!
I hope we will all meet in game someday and before that, here, on hearthpwn!
Just to be honest,
the hearthstone community is divided in two type: The laddering only people The ladder, meme people, wild people (a fusion)
The first, are just here to netdeck and they don't offer you anything more than offenses. The second one, are just people that want to ladder (or not) using some cool deck of their own. Usually they are funny, and they usually like to give advice without just say "Play odd paladin".
So, don't be too happy to be here, because as you know in real life a lot of people are good and a lot of people are bad. In the other hand, be happy to have discovered in this thread people with a brain and "good".
Wish to you best luck, my battletag is in my profile so feel free to add me ( a new friend is not a waste)
This month I tried to rank with my alt account (which I use to clear dailies on my main account when I don't have much time). It has very limited collection but I managed to build a very simple midrange hunter deck with no legendaries and no epics. I'm at rank 19 atm and I wouldn't say that it's too difficult to climb with it. Of course, it's not tier 1, but it's fairy competitive if played good.
To increase your winrate you have to know your matchups, your and their win conditions, what cards they likely to have, etc. It's more about overall experience than dust value of your deck.
So I would like to advice you to just play, learn and have fun. If you are short on dust, craft midrange hunter or wait till expansion launch, you will receive some free packs and a legendary card.
P.S. If you have troubles completing your dailies you may try to create an alt account and play with it on your phone or some other device. Personally, I find this to be much easier and fun. I don't need to worry about my quests, I don't need to play classes I don't want to play right now, etc. It requires something like 15 minutes every 3 days, I usually do this when I watch something or just reading news.

Hey dude,
i want to give you an advice... In wild there is a lot of broken decks, but hunter also have a lot of good common that disappeared after rotation... remember the cats?
Why not try to recreate the old midrange one? Using the kittos and other common like the kindly grandmother? Cool and budget

Exactly ! Have fun, this is a game after all. Especially for a returning player (which left because he wasn't having enough fun with it).
Thing is the "safety net" they have for matchmaking when you are brand new does not last long at all. After that you'll be shocked to face anything but tier 1 and 2 decks.
I have been playing below rank 20 for several seasons now (don't care about ranked after legend card back) even at these very low ranks you will see the same decks, but obviously the difference is there is a wider spread of classes here, than when you go higher up the ranks, but decks are still very strong.
