i realy want to see a meta like it was back in WOTG. that was a versitle meta with a slight lean towards control being warrior and priest, with aggro being zoolock, and shaman. heck it even had combo decks.(freeze mage, worgen warrior) i think that blizzard should be taking some steps to try and make such a versitile and fun meta again.
If I remember right Priest wasn't exist in WotOG sadly. It was a tier 5 class with some serious cards like Lightbomb and Vol'jin moved into Wild. Basically, priest was dead at the WotOG. Other than that yeah I also missed C'Thun Warrior but it's still a viable deck.If you are complaining about aggro decks and aggressive meta; there were Midrange Shaman instead of Pirate Warrior which was a very powerful deck with low dust price, every Expansion there's a Cancer class and deck we can't do anything about sadly.
I loved that meta as well - felt pretty diverse, you didn't know what you're gonna encounter when you que. And I liked the fact that there wasn't much priest, yes :)
Whispers meta... if I recall right, that was Warriorstone with Dragon Warrior being on top, no? was it also the time that Priest had Entomb, the most annoying removal ever printed? Shaman also caused me plenty of headaches back then. anyways, I did enjoy playing C'thun Warrior a lot, and I am saddened that C'thun decks right now don't really exist anymore ; aside from the fact that Jade is just better, Brann was a massive part of keeping that deck potent. I don't really miss any meta so far, I think, aside from the ancient times of Priest vs Warrior control matchups or when Handlock had Molten Giants and Healbots.
this meta might be my favorite, if Druid gets dealt with. so many exciting tools!

''He traded sands for skins, skins for gold, gold for life. In the end, he traded life for sand.''
Oh yeah, Shaman stone was so fun! Seriously, Shaman during WOTOG was as OP as Druid is now. Every meta has been a joke, you're just feeling nostalgic, OP.
idk about you but i had loads of grindy control match ups in WOTG with priests warriors and sometimes even palys. what do u mean by"warriorstone"? there will alweys be a top tier 1 deck that a lot of people play, but in WOTG all top tier decks seen a prety equal amount of play, with the exeption being c'thun warrior who saw buttloads of play in high tiers.

priest board clears are like having fun in hearthstone. you think u had enough, and then u get more.
Priest was viable? Which deck? I remember warriors being all of the place there - which felt really annoying. Shamans were super strong too, especially the aggro version. Loved those 16 dmg doomhanger swings! -.-"
They're going to nerf druids and the meta will flourish. Just be patient and tech against jades
there was about as much complaining about warrior during "wotog meta" as there is about druid now. you are looking at the past with rose tinted glasses. the problems with this game have been the same for years, and they will remain the same until classic/basic is replaced with a balanced evergreen set. it's up to blizzard to find a way to execute this without sending the whales into a frenzy over their lost "investment"
the "experimentation"/"diversity" you described in wotg will happen with the first expansion of every year because that expansion happens to come with a rotationw hcih enocurages players to experiment more and fill holes,, and wotg was not as good as your nsotalgia tinted-lens are painting it to be, it was a Swarm the board meta, you either played a swarm the board aggro/Zoo-style deck or lost, because the AoE was literally unexistant or borderland mediocre during that time, the only class that could deal with all that aggression was Warrior thanks to brawl, other control decks were literally dead unless thye played the pre-nerfed Yogg, or need i remind you of that infamous game where dude mindlessly vomited his hand into an unkillable Zoo-board at turn 4, forcing monsanto no other line of play than ramp into-yogg which players ran because it was the only thing that dubbes as AoE and could "reliably" deal with board swarming.
Pre-Karazhan I remember being Warriorstone, mainly--tempo Warrior was particularly good. Shaman had Aggro as its best deck, Druid was Spell (Maly + Yogg), Midrange Hunter (pre-CotW nerf) was very strong, Warlock Zoo was still very good (since this was before Maelstrom Portal).
That's what I remember, at least. Sure I'm leaving out some important decks.

I feel the same way, it seemed like there was a lot more creativity with decks and a lot more viable decks as well.
I think I might have hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia.
I think there should be a third option besides Standard and Wild each month that matches an old meta.
EH it was an okay meta but I still think KFT is better. the only thing I miss about WOTG was tempo mage. Loved that deck
Yea the meta back then was really stable, nearly every class was powerful(maybe expect priest) and to my knowlage most of the decks warent netdecked.
Ahhh the time when you could play deathrattle hunter without everybody yelling "noob" at you.Sweet memories
Im playing since Gadgetzan. Does anyone have screenshot of WOTG meta snapshot?

SNAP OUT OF IT, WOTG WAS BAD AND HERE IS WHY:

u are kinda wrong. myb it was the first set, but usualy the diversity lasts for a week or two. in WOTG it did for the whole 4 months.
