It's insane. I haven't faced a single zoo since I posted this thread. Plenty of Renolocks, Yogg Druids and Control Warriors though (as well as Midrange Shaman and Hunter of course).
I am seriously starting to doubt the ladder matchmaking :/
Can understand why you'd think I am trolling, but I'm not.
i seriously do not understand how people still think matchmaking is done by pure luck.
if it was, you would be faced mostly against the majority of the players decks, which atm is shamans, hunters, warriors, locks.
i was loosing hard with zoolock. because was being given matches against other zoos or aggro shamans or tempo midrange something.
changed to control warrior, and now i face tempo and aggros... occasionally zoo...
then i make an aggro warrior deck.... oh... blizzard does not know the counter for this aggro warrior... so i play aggainst every class, every type of deck... untill i lose to mage. then i know, the next matches are aggainst mages.... until i win.
i try to optimise this aggro warrior and i put one patron. im doomed... i only face zoos... zoo zoo zoo..... i cant win, so i take the patron out, and, like magic, there we go, now we have tempo again, some control, some aggro shammies, and all is good again.
i would really like for blizz to stop controlling who we face against. if the meta is something, and the majority of players are in with that something, then we would face mostly that. and not our pseudo counter to balance the matches...
As the subject says. Why isn't anyone playing zoo?
In my last 100 games in Standard, I've faced Zoo once. This is on ranks 4-6. Looking at the matchups I'm getting, you'd think that Zoo would make a killing. Aggro and Midrange Shaman combined with Hunter makes up 50% of the games I've played. Add rogue and pirate warrior, and zoo would have great matcups against 2/3 of the current meta. Yet no one is playing it.
Anyone care to explain what I'm missing here? Are all zoo players legend already?
edit: Didn't think of druid, so that 2/3 should be 3/4..
I played a lot with ZooLock and i have to say the deck is weak now. Bad matchups. I think Warlock is not good in Standart anymore. Only playable in wildmode.
i feel the same way i played a lot of zoo before wotog and a bit after. There are so many counters out there now with the loss of deathreatle minions. You either crush or get crush thats how i feel about it atm
the matchmaking is done for you to face your counters, or at least something similar so no one is at an extreme disadvantage.
there is no luck or RNG at matchmaking.... there is only algorithms!!!
try putting in and out a grimpatron.
try a deck with one board clear, and then take it out.
try a zoo, and then a fatigue.
if it was luck, you would be facing the majority of player decks most of the time.
and yet, it changes drastically according to the deck You are playing.
the only proof is the game itself, and it doesnt need much.
at rank 20 you lose nothing to try it. put a card in the deck that can make a difference in gameplay (difference id decktype).
like grim patron or knife juggler or holy nova or flamewreathed faceless.
play 10 games.
then take that 1 card out (assuming using only one of each) , replacing it for a "normal" card, that has no meaningful impact. and your opponents will change instantly. its amazing.
I got seriously tilted by not queuing into a single zoo with my Tempo Warrior. Went from rank 4 to rank 7. This is my one weekend off from the kids (happens at most once a year), so I was hoping to at least see some progress towards legend. That was not to be.
There is nothing I can do about it though. Luckily I'm still not seeing much of zoo after switching decks, so I guess I can try to adapt to my own personal meta. I'm back to rank 4 as well, so calming down now.
In current meta there is too many answers for zoo decks especially to zoolock so when people play zoo that answers increases so that is why less people play zoolock
Zoo is still a good deck in Europe because the meta is still mixed. Of course you will face a lot of Warriors but no deck is good against everything.
The problem is not deck tho there is too many cards to get rid of zoo especially new warlock zoo have too many one hp drops so when there is too many warlock zoo people includes those cards to their deck but when warlock zoo decreases they also get rid of those cards because they are not good against any other type. Right now too many decks have answer to the warlock zoo in standart ofc I don't know wild
I am playing only zoo, and near the end of last season i had come across many of mirror match. Perhaps that is just rigged, who knows. It is not bad by any means though. It's just not as easy to learn as it appears, usually.

You know I agree with this. I face priest WAY too much for it to be a coincidence! If you hear people talk NOBODY is playing priest but I get it ALL the time with my aggro decks. Seems I only face three class, aggro/midrange shaman, Warrior, priest.

Is there even a way to control this?
Or even prove this is not random?

and your starting hand also changes!!!!
come on... this is bull**** blizzard.
with grim patron, my starting hand is 3/4manas and higher (9/10 games)
without the patron, starting hand 1 mana and higher...always... lol
Well if the kind of player that you Will Encounter is rigged.
It could also mean that these players are bots altogether.
There is enough match data to determine endless of plays.

nowhere zoo with midrange shaman is the most consistent deck on the ladder even with the budget version
zoo and shaman midrange dominate the meta now midrange hunter and tempo warrior are also realy good but not quite as good
