Videos featuring the deck: (not optimal play)
Honestly, I don't get the Point of Patches the Pirate....how is wasting one card spce for a glorified Stonetusk Boar even a consideration?
A 1/1 charge for free is good. It also thins your deck. Since it is aggro having a better chance getting good cards is very strong. You aren't wasting a spot since you are not expecting to go late game
plus it thins out your deck.
I've seen people saying this alot but what exactly are the advantages of thinning out your deck?
it can help with getting Bloodsail Cultist to work on turn 3 more often with patches on board
Instead of drawing Patches, you can get a different card. The same idea works with any draw power. Instead of waiting to draw a card naturally at the beginning of your turn, you can have it early, thus drawing something else.
he's amazing... flying out of the gates with free extra agro, and if you have First Mate its sick starter on coin with First Mate and Deckhand. Plus, more potential to proc Cultist on turn three making Rusty Hook last until you get a weapon upgrade, or Southsea Captain to buff all the pirates turn 3/4 for that matter. So very fun so far. Yarr.
Higher probability of drawing what you need.
Okay, imagine this scenario:
Turn 10. Your opponent is on 6 hp, no taunt minions, no secrets, nothing that could stop you winning this turn. You're on 1 hp, the opponent has a full board. You draw a card, hoping for anything to deliver that burst damage to win. Who do you draw? Patches. Wow. GG. Concede.
The next card in your deck? Leeroy Jenkins himself.
Patches would've been pretty useful at the start of the game (Especially if he was pulled from your deck for free). Leeroy wouldn't have been though. Clogging up your hand.
So, by the process of thinning your deck, with that first pirate you play, you're getting more bang for your buck with a 1/1 pirate, who can charge. Great synergy too. And at the same time you reduce the risk of pulling a dead card in your later turns. And with a deck of this speed you want every turn and every mana crystal to be used to its maximum potential.
How the blue hell did you get turn 10, and them down to 6 life, without playing a pirate card? Use your brain.
For the purpose of the example it doesn't matter. Could have said Murloc Tinyfin instead. It's all about manipulating your chances of getting better cards on curve. The poster didn't know what thinning was, could have used Secret Paladin as another example. So don't be so damn ignorant.
lol this is a case of me reading the first little paragraph and thinking you're an idiot and skipping the rest. My bad :D
Fair enough man. Hope you're enjoying the new expansion :D
A lower card count decklist makes it easier to ensure youre getting value cards
there's something called deck thinning and deck acceleration is the same reason why warlock's hero power is super powerful and why reno mages run things like Arcane Intellect you reach your win condition faster and get at least 2 free damage out of patches..which is important for aggro decks.
Man...patches comes from your decka s soona s you play a pirate, there's no way you'll draw him at turn 10, he'll be long dead by that time.
Good job :)
Is this right?
Are you asking if the 4 damage is correct or you going face is?
my bad! I thought that was the enemy, not me : D
