Hi guys, tom here. A while back I created a new Aggro Freeze Mage list featuring Medivh's valet and a guide to compliment it. It received a lot of positive feedback and I received many PMs both on reddit and hearthpwn asking me if I stream, or asking to watch me play games to better learn the deck. Unfortunately, I play on a mediocre laptop so streaming isn't an option, as such I decided to make a 4-part video series.
Anyway, I played my aggro freeze mage list last week and over two days I hit 10 legend with the deck, from about ~300 legend, with a 66.2% winrate. Furthermore, I also managed a 12-2 Heroic Tavern Brawl run with the same exact list. During my 10 legend climb specifically, I recorded some games and recorded my voice in real time so you can better understand some of my thoughts and decision making behind each turn.
Here's the videos, hope you enjoy! Feel free to ask questions :)

from what I've seen (which may not be much), most people sub in kobold geomancer or maybe another card draw minion (novice engineer?)
I think the deck is unplayable without thalnos, the card drawn is very often the difference between winning and losing
yeah that's what I did in fact. but i agree that thalnos is a very good card, but personally i don't find it worth it to craft him yet (I'm a pretty new player who plays mainly wild)
That Warlock tho.. His turn 5 ??? Demonwrath + PO on his minion to achieve what? Clearing your Doomsayer and leaving it with an empty board anyway? Wat?
amazing, but extremely difficult to pilot. 5/2 so far.
Could a add a Alex or a Thaurissan to this deck? Which card to remove?
Alex and Thaurissan are both expensive and slow. Wouldn't recommend either for this version. If you want to go that route: -2 Oracle, -2 Medivh, -2 Wyrm, -2 Mirror for +2 Blizzard, +1 Flamestrike, +2 Ice Barrier, +1 Thaurissan, +1 Alex, +1 Doomsayer.
Aaaaand you've got yourself a standard Freeze-Mage. Which is a totally different playstyle and a very different gameplan.
exactly xD
I haven't won a single game with this deck. Terrible for me in low ladder 15-16 range. Doesn't deal with aggro well at all.
I am a golden mage but have rarely played freeze (only because I've always thought it cancerous like mill rogue) but I have recently made a regular freeze mage. Having said that, this deck is a tough one to play but is a very solid deck! I just ran 3 games, winning first 2 vs shaman and tempo mage then lost (horribly) to a murloc paladin. I'm still learning when to play cards and when not too I supposei just wanted to caution others that this deck is NOT for casual players or mage "occasionals" and may not be ideal for ladder rankin teens for example. However, great deck, think I'm gonna enjoy it. And as far as me hating to play against decks like freeze mage, im gonna just say, "if you can't beat em, join em" and this gives a new perspective to it. Good job especially on detailed explanations and videos. People could learn a thing or two from this type of deck posting! Cheers
I saw that too... wonder why those downvotes...
At least he explained the deck and made a video... but don't justify copy and don't even thanks to trump...
Couse it acctually is TomHS aggro freeze and trump copied it. Trump even mentioned it in his video.
it is a difficult deck to play, but it can be extremely strong when played the right way. I am terrible with it but i love learning it. knowing when to remove a minion and how much damage is left in your deck is super important.
While this deck, as demonstrated by the OP, is good at Legend ranking where there are not many classes using substantial healing, it's not nearly as good at lower levels. The mid-teens, for example, are filled with Priests, paladins, and warriors (which can go infinite armor). If you try to play this deck in that kind of meta, you will not do well.
It's a bit of a lesson that most people that read these forums just don't get....just because a deck is good in the Legend meta, doesn't necessarily mean it's good at lower levels. There are many decks like that which get posted, which leads to the inevitable whining when people here read that the deck reached Legend, but then wonder why they go 1-9 with it at rank 18. Apart from the fact that learning a deck takes MONTHS, not minutes, some decks are built to (generally) climb within Legend ranks. This is one of them.
Ya all playing this deck u are freaking orphans, I wish u all the best cuz the worst has already happened to you, u are worse then shaman players lmao
Is this deck limited at all by your card collection? I'm just wondering if there are rarer cards like Alexstrasza that might make the deck even stronger, or if this is as optimized as it gets, in your opinion...
EDIT: Man, you people are nasty as shit. I ask a simple and innocent question and get down-voted so far that my question gets hidden, so the deck creator probably won't even see it. The Hearthpwn community is either hormone-fueled, raging teenagers or -- even worse -- just shitty people. By all means, keep it up; make sure everyone knows the Hearthpwn community is as toxic and immature as YouTube.
Hi Tom. I read your mulligan guide on reddit, and I have a question. Why isn't into correct to mulligan a Forgotten Torch??
Torch is way to slow, you need mana worm and doomsayer. Even loot horder if you desperate.
