PLAYSTYLE
Tempo Mage utilizes spell synergy with Mana Wyrm, Sorcerer's Apprentice, Arcane Missile, and Flamewaker to seize tempo early, essentially bullying your opponent past the point of recovery.
Typically, Tempo Mage closes out the game fairly quickly with burn spells synergizing with recurring damage from Mana Wyrm and bonus RNG damage from Flamewaker. While the goal is to close out the game relatively early, Tempo Mage can curve into late game threats like Archmage Antonidas.
META
Tempo Mage lost a bit of power with the balance patch, as Yogg-Saron is not quite what he once was. Howeverb I still think he warrants a spot in this deck, as Yogg is still a great comeback tool against aggressive and mid-range decks. Less consistent now, yes, but I guess Yogg was never actually that "consistent" – you just have even more chance of him not being spectacular now. W
ere Yogg took the biggest hit was probably control matchups. Yogg-Saron versus control is a lot less likely to do anything when played on an empty board or a board with only 1 minion, as he is more likely to target and kill himself. Tempo Mage being able to fight Mid-Range Shaman pretty effectively puts it at a decent spot in the meta.
