Hello guys!
I just hit rank 1 legend with this list created by my friend Tryndamere. The list is perfect in my opinion so I figured I'd share it.
General strategy:
First of all, zoo is a control deck, not a rush deck! You win by gaining early board control and making efficient trades every turn! Cards like abusive servant and power overwelming help you do that. Always play around the AEO removal from the class you are facing, like consecrate / Swipe etc. Of course this is elementary knowledge, but it is the most important thing to do.
Matchups:
Easy matchups: Mage (mech), shaman, priest, paladin, druid,
Mage: Against (mech)mage look for a good curve and just keep trading with all the mechs and you will win easy.
Shaman: Same as above, just play out your curve and trade. Play around Lightning Storm when you can. Popping narubian egg before it gets earth shocked is a good play too.
Priest: Same as above, should be an easy game. Trade efficiently and play around Holy Nova and Circle of Healing combo.
Paladin: Always play around consecrate obviously, narubian egg is a very good counter against consecrate.
Druid: Don't play against druid with turn 2 Wild Growth. Power overwelming is the best card to keep against druid.
Hard matchups: Warrior (Grim Patron), Warlock (Handlock), hunter (Face), Rogue,
Warrior (Grim Patron): Very difficult matchup when they have early board clears, Just keep clearing and suicide off your own small minions so he can't get value from charging Grim Patrons. Winning board control is always key to winning the match with zoo.
Warlock (Handlock): This is one of the hardest matchups, just try to get him down to 15health by turn 5 just above molten giants range and hope you draw into power overwelming/Doomguard as the finisher.
Hunter (Face): Always keep Defender of Argus in the opening hand, it is key to winning the game. When you managed to argus something like Imp Gang Boss [/card]+ [card]narubian egg, consider racing the hunter and going face.
Rogue: Don't pop your narubian eggs too soon, it is a good ensurance against Blade Flurry. This is a really hard match, but if you manage to play Loatheb while having a board, you win. Power overwelming is great for trading against rogue minions like Violet Teacher and Azure Drake.
Key notes:
* Power Overwelming is good against most classes
* Imp Gang Boss is always a good turn 3.
* Voidcaller is a card I always like to keep in my opening hand! Sometimes when I'm greedy I keep it together with Doomguard or malganys.
* Big Game Hunter Saved my ass so many times. It is the reason I managed to get Rank 1.
* Loatheb Closes out games when you are ahead.
Changes
- Loatheb + Dr. Boom
- flame imp + Sylvanas

No offense, but don't listen to the other dude. If you are free to play there are far better legendaries to invest in. Ragnaros, Dr. Boom, Sylvannas are all must haves. (Rags been falling out of favor but it's still strong). After getting those (maybe some other neutrals if you need them) focus on the powerful class legendaries for whatever you like. Cenarius, grommash, antonidas, etc.
If you are f2p just invest in any other neutral legendary that you missing.
Mal'Ganis is a nice one,but it's only for warlock decks.
Nice write-up. Much appreciated. I like the mulligan guide.
But how about the mirror match-up?
Playing this now. Due to whats in my collection, I swapped out 1 Defender of Argus with a Demonwrath, and Mal'ganis for Lord Jaraxxus. So far both cards have helped with wins. 4-0 atm.
haha
No deck is perfect against everything. This deck is clearly good enough to stand it's own against most decks out there, but not all.
To have a bit more of a constructive reply. If you're truly struggling against grim patron warrior I recommend swapping out an Imp-losion [/card]for a [card]Hellfire or Shadowflame. That will make the deck a bit stronger against them.
I'm 6-0 with the list on ladder. I think it is a nice mix of zoo and Demonlock and is more consistent than zoo.
i suck at zoo decks for some reason -.- i just cant keep control. 0-6 with this deck in the last hour.. zoo might not be my thing i guess.
The one person who admits they're not good with the deck instead of posting "deck sucks complete trash -1". Bravo.
If there was a trophy for the most honest comment on hearthpwn,i would give it you in no time
Any replacement for imp gang boss ?
Imp Master
well shadowflame will never really replace BGH unless you can get it on a power-overwhelming sylvanas or something, but shadowflame adds in some needed quick removal. sylvanas instead of loatheb on the other hand gives you a good opportunity to get a high cost minion from the opponent. Loatheb is only really key to stop pesky rogues and maybe late-game board clears
Knife juggler -> Implosion is a very good combo for regaining board control. Other than that just spam minions and profit!
I played a similar deck with just a few differences before I saw your deck here. I am currently Rank 1 and seeing if I can get legend with it
-1 Dire Wolf Alpha + 1 Sylvanas
-1 Flame Imp + 1 Bane of Doom
- 1 Loatheb + 1 Dr. Boom
- 1 Big Game Hunter + 1 Void Terror
I feel I am going to change to your list...but I feel Dr. Boom won me countless games. What do you think is less necessary of Bane of Doom, Loatheb, BGH or Dire Wolf?
I like the part where he says this is elementary knowledge then proceeds to butcher many of the card names.
good deck just gone 5 - 0
I did the same exact swap when I made this deck without trying it out with Dr. Boom first, Dr. Boom is way too OP to leave out.
youre rank 20? is that why you mad
?
