The original Spanish inquisition started out as outside the meta deck to be used in tournaments. It proved very useful against the ladder at the time as well. As the meta progressed it was retired. With the release of Goblins vs Gnomes however I decided to dust off this old gem and update it for the current meta.
Strategy
This current incarnation of my original design makes use of 1 new gvg card that seems it was designed for. Shadowbomber. This little 1 drop minion can be used to fill out the late game curve to push for lethal in a very interesting way. The basic idea behind the deck is a hyper face rush aggro deck that by the time you opponent has recovered and set up a defense you switch from a ground game using minions to an air game using spells and effects. Usage of spells such as Silence and Mass Dispel helps provide a great counter to taunts to buy you 1 or more turns with out anything impeding your charge attack minions. Once you have done enough with your ground game its time to combo out with Mind Blast, Holy Fire and even the Shadowbomber
Cards such as Bloodmage Thalnos and Azure Drake are in this deck to not only provide card draw but to give a spell damage boost for late game combos.
Mulligan
Depending on the class your going to be facing will determine a lot of what you should be playing.
Want to keep-Northshire Cleric, Undertaker, any deathrattle minion,Shadow Word: Pain
Do not want to keep-Wolfrider, Azure Drake, Mind Blast, Shadowbomber, other things over 3 mana.
When to play the bombs
Shadowbomber, Mind Blast should never be played early on as this gives a pretty good idea what your trying to do. They are best held onto for late game play when you can chain them out for lethal.
Wolf riders should always be played to the face and if possible 2 at a time. Azure Drake coming down on curve can be really helpful.
Undertaker in your opening hand is really good and can help lead to victory.
If you can not play a Wolfrider or Azure Drake on turn 5 use a Thoughtsteal.
NEVER USE Arcane Golem TO TRADE.
Save your Arcane Golem for your endgame and try to chain 2 of them out with spells or effects to finish the game.
I saw your video about Undertaker's nerf and I'm guessing that means you still believe undertaker has a place in the deck? If not, will you be updating the deck or what recommendations do you have? This was my go to fun deck. :)
Chiv, I commend you on this deck. Not only is it extremely fun to play, but it takes what many considered to be a "garbage" card and found a great use for it! I've gone on a win streak with this little deck, and having a blast! None of my opponents know what hit them! In a way, this deck plays very much like a hunter deck. Even when I get a bad starting hand, it seems like I'm able to pull out a win with this deck. (And when I have a good starting hand, it's often over before turn 7!)
Excellent work with this one. Love it!
Swapped out silence for spellbreaker. Been having a lot of fun and floating around ranks 14-8
it can work very nicely the only issue I find with it is deck slot space. The GVG/SI is all about the directing the way your opponent will play. You start with a typical D/R priest core and then run that down their throat and once they counter this and put up defenses you start to remove the defense and switch to the charge minion in 2's if possible. Then when they think they have the advantage you lay out burst combos using mindblast and shadow bombers. The brewmaster doesn't fit this design though its a nifty trick, long as your willing to sack 10% of your life every time. Thus your talking about a possible 40% life loss just from bombers. 12 life is a big chunk im just not comfortable with.
I have been trying something similar with Shadowbomber and one card that I have been using with it is Youthful Brewmaster. It combos quite nicely with the bombers and while admittedly I have not tried the charging minions yet, I could imagine that they would work quite nicely with the brewmaster.
