Hi guys
Want to show you my latest creation that I have been using to climb with in legend. This is an absolutely new archetype for hunter that is viable in current meta for a long long time.
Idea behind the deck:
I wanted to utilize hunters ability to discover and discount deathrattles and addition to some very sticky minions he has with new powerful cards we got with the rotation. The deck aims to quickly take over the board by turn 4, then push your opponents face, while generation new sticky minions each turn.
Key Cards:
Trueaim Crescent - use this to control early board. It works like rush for your new minions, can help you pop up Teron Gorefiend and even gives minions "double attack"
Teron Gorefiend - if you play that guy on an turn 2 egg, its just extremely strong board swing. Can also work later in the game. Gives you possibility to create multiple Zixors
Mok'Nathal Lion - ow boy, another huge tempo swing. They NEVER pop up your eggs or Bloated Pyton. This is basically 4 mana deal 5 to minion, summon 4/4.
Warsong Wrangler - it all came together when I added this card. Need taunt turn 5? You got it. Need 4 6/5 rushes to finish off your opponent? No problem.
Mystery Winner - Super good here, because of Pack Tactics. You play that in a key moment, and force your opponent to copy your 5 mana taunt or just a strong 3 mana deathrattle. Also, vs agro can find you fire traps.
Vectus - since it was printed, every good streamers said the card was busted. But due to lack of spesific archetype it never shined. Well, in this deck it does, and it shines big time. Bu turn 5 you often pop up 2 strong deathrattles, so Vectus is basically 6/6 summon two 4/4s . Reminds me of pre-nerfed Jandice.
Mulligan:
Mystery Winner, Carrion Studies (if you have 3 mana deathrattle or no deathrattle at all), Trueaim Crescent, Nerubian Egg. Teron Gorefiend with Carrion Studies or Egg.
Matchups:
Hunter: Bad, but winnable. You need board control until turn 3, then you need 5 mana taunts.
DH: Bad. They just hit your face and heal.
Rogue: Very good
Druid: Celestial: very good. Token: might loose turn 1 or turn 2.
Mage: Bad. Cheaters have devolve.
Warrior: Very good
Warlock: Very good. I have like 8/10 wins agains them, they just dont have enough to clear all
Priest: Good, just discover freezing traps and push face very hard
Paladin: Libram: Good. Aggro: Bad
Q/A:
Why not Tonk? - I started with 2 tonks in my list. They are ok card, but too expensive with 7 mana do nothing, also they are easily killed, then nothing sticks on board.
Why not Jewel of N'Zoth - Do you want to summon 0/2, 1/2 and 3/4 turn 8? Too slow
Why not Augmented Porcupine ? - same reason as Tonk, it is not sticky enough, then just clear it, then you have nothing to copy with Lion turn 4.
Enjoy this new fresh addition to the meta guys and good luck!
Yeah I get it, we need to get the balance right between offense and defense.
In my experience needing to pay 3 mana for a Hunter Secret typically isn't worth it in the current meta. A good indication is that most decks that play Secrets typically have a way to cheat them out. I did like the flexibility of discovering a secret but I ended up holding on to the secret because I needed to respond to the board immediately.
So yeah, I haven't faced any priests since the change but it the changes did improve my win-rate vs Paladin from 25% to 67%. My Win-rate vs Warlock stayed 100% so I would think that the offensive part is still quite good enough.
Because, come to think of it, the Mankrik - Barak Kodobane adds in some more offensive power as well Mankrik is a decent 3 drop with an upside that isn't conditional, Teron Gorefiend has the same stats but his upside is more conditional and can even be turned in a downside by priest (most run Focused Will now to combo with Hysteria.
So I'm quite confident that the priest match-up isn't harmed too much. Besides, like I said: we lack a spell-triggered Secret. Most control decks don't trigger Freezing Trap or Pack Tactics that often. So I'm not convinced that the secret package is the answer to the current match-up.
Furthermore I agree that Animated Broomsticks are not really a good synergy with this deck. I think that Death's Head Cultist does have some good synergy with the Tueaim Crescent, as you are trading with your face, you can use some healing, which can be multiplied by Teron Gorefiend.
I'll add the Decklist that I found on HSReplay, it shows the terrible match-up vs Hunter and other Aggro classes. So I thought I would try to improve those, as the other match-ups are pretty good anyways.
This deck seems fun. I really like hunter decks that aren't just pure face damage.
Just curious, if Teron eats some minions, and then you drop Mok'Nathal Lion to copy him, does the lion get to summon all the buffed minions?
Yes, it will! If you manage to do that, you most likely win on spot
That's awesome! :)
I actually have all the cards needed to create this deck already, so I think I'll give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
Seems like a fun deck.
I don't have Gorefiend but I will try Runethak instead.
**update after playing a few games:
Worked well against Priest, Warlock and Warrior
Got absolutely smashed by Rogue, Paladin & Murloc Shaman

Thanks for this deck. Maybe it's an element of surprise, but I got from D2 to legend in a streak, and now I continue to shake up the meta :)
Already thought that i'ts going to be face hunter only until next Xpac... so thanks ! :)
I agree with you on Carrion Studies - so far, it's been good in this deck.
Fantastic, mate, I am glad when you could use an off meta deck to get legend. Element of surprise does surely play its role and that's what is fantastic with homebrew decks. People just forgot these cards existed. They see an egg on turn 2, and they are like: "Huh? Forget it, I am going face. " And next turn you coin out lion and have huuuuge board swing and then they start killing off your things in panic....
I must admit, it is so satisfying to play board sentric decks rather then mage that gets lethal up from their ass
Looks fun. I usually like your decks. It's not going to be the best deck around, but I do like playing hunter. I am a bit sad tavish beast hunter isn't a bit more viable.
I would consider taking out the carrion studies for more early tempo. I also wonder if we can fit in kolkar somehow. If we take out carrion studies for wound prey, then we can maybe take out the quickshots for kolkar?
You can try, man, tell me how it goes. Carrion studies has been ok card for me if I also mulligan 3 drop beast with it, then I can tempo it on 2. Also, it is ok card when you have nothing to play, it is flexible both early and late. But ye, deck has enough value to kill warlocks. Maybe more early spell can help.
I tried playing around with this deck. The trouble is the meta at mid legend is a lot of face hunter, which this deck loses to, and rush warrior. Rush warrior is so extremely strong (if you use the good list by nohandsgamer, rather than the list with scorpid), that I am not sure this deck can compete. It is far too slow.
True, if your meta are face hunter, you should not play this. Also token druid just wins badly. I beated almost all rush warriors, but now that I look on Nohands list, it looks far more aggressive. It might be a problem , true. My meta in 10k legend are warlocks, rogues, some hunters, warriors and paladins. I have actually been climbing some 1000s ranking with it. In my opinion it is an ok low T2 deck.
I'm 3v1 vs face hunter. The games I won were close, but if you play around their dmg sources, you can defend, outlast, and win. Traps help. I even beat token druid. He thought he could hold on until T4-5 when he dropped a lot of his minions and buff'em, but I had a strong board until then as well. I like the deck, It has some room for tweaks and indeed, it is satisfying to win with it.
I'm currently 14-8 with it, slowly climbing in Legend.
14-8 is a great score. I have also positive winrate against metadecks.
I would love to see some good streamer Who has more time then me play this and get some suggestions for improvements. I am sure this deck might have its place in meta. I tried 2/4 heal taunt first, but it really does not stop agro and makes your other matchup worse.
