Hey Everyone, I've been playing Hearthstone for years but this is the first time I'm posting a deck here on hrthpwn.
I'm a Warlock main player and was bummed after warlock decks got nerfed multiple times since it was tier 1 at the start on ashes meta. After countless experiments I have finally fine tuned a deck that got me to Legend faster than any deck I have ever used before.
Combining Lackeys with Galakrond is just so much FUN!
DECK STRATEGY
Plays generally like other zoo-gala locks except the fact that lackeys especially with tekahn and erkh give you multiple win conditions against more control-ly decks out there.
Against Control (Gala rogue, Spell druid, Gala priest, highlander mage) : Haven't lost to a control deck yet. Hard mulligan for scrap-imp and play him asap with coin or on turn 2 if youre going first. Tap on turn 2/3 . Save Erkh and at least one lackey or lackey generator till you get Tekahn on the board. Erkh and six 4/4 Lackeys that generate you big dragons and spells that give you more win conditions against control decks. Kronx gives you another win condition. The best part of this deck is that your biggest card is Galakrond at 7 mana! This makes your deck very consistent and you wont be stuck with a hand full of unplayable heavy cards at the mulligan while still generating more value than most control decks!
Againt Tempo Demon hunter : SLIGHTLY unfavoured match-up for us but not by much. If they draw perfectly from mulligan they can be a bit hard to beat. But we still have come back mechanics with plague of flames and magic carpet. Do not hard mulligan for scramp-imp this time, it's too slow. Instead mulligan for 1 drops and play tempo zoo style. If you end up with scramp imp in your hand after mulligan anyway just play him on 2 after your 1 drop and do not tap on turn 3 for value, just play tempo. I have found this strategy much better againt tempo DH.
Please be free to ask me any questions in the comments, will try my best to help everyone and best of luck on your legend climb!
Any replacements for Dark Pharaoh Tekahn?
If you don’t have dark pharaoh you just just play a zoo version and remove all the lackey combo cards.
dark pharaoh gives you your late game presence you need to beat control, but also gives you a chance to take back the board from Agro. Without them being 4/4s it doesn’t do anything worth while.
excellent deck, so far 11-5 on platinum 5ish
i struggle mostly against pure paladins, any suggestions?
I haven't faced any pure paladins with this deck, so not sure what to recommend. I wouldn't make any changes just for a better match-up against a rare deck. If they are really aggro then follow the same mulligan guide as DH, don't be greedy with scrap imp. Maybe after facing a few myself I could give you some better advice.
So far my first 3 games were 2 Murloc paladins and 1 libram. I played it a lot like how he suggests you play vs DH. Never tapped and played rather defensive until I could roll out dark pharaoh. Plat 6 when I played them though.
Oh! I also ALWAYS mulliganed for plaque of flames. The card did wonders for me. Idk if it’s the right choice, but it let me bait out buffing stuck and going face then I’d kill off imps for invoke and take empty the board.
libram paladins, they are a pain...
Great deck.
I tried something like this but got only a 53% win rate (but in two games I made big mistakes) but that deck ran zephyr and alexstraza. The issue was you had two dead cards then in your deck. I also ran sac pac to not die as well as nether breaths etc. So it was more a control lackey warlock. It felt a bit clunky. Instead you seem to put a lot of early game minions which would help control the board and maybe that means you don't need all the healing since your opponent is going to have to trade with you instead of going face.
One thing that always did bother me about galakrond warlock was how zephyr was just a dead card until the very very late game.
Exactly! I played an iteration with alex and Zeph but most of the time they were dead cards in my hand and against aggressive decks thats a death sentence. Ive even removed flame imps from my list because that 6 extra damage to your face is a big deal against DH and face hunters. Battlemage does the same function of flame imp of controlling early board against typical tempo 1 drops without killing yourself in the process.
Deck is very powerful, sitting on 68% WR with 50 games played in legend. Might be the best warlock deck i played this season.
Idk why but Imprisoned Scrap Imp is in my mulligan very often as well.
Thank you! Glad its working out for you. Imprisoned Scrap Imp is just too powerful against most decks. Against DH remember not to get greedy with turn 3 tap and just play tempo.
