CHECK OUT MY NEW POST NERF HIGHLANDER DECK HERE: https://www.hearthpwn.com/decks/1343784-post-nerf-65-wr-highlander-demon-hunter
This new version is much stronger post-nerf and I think it is also a good bit more fun to play. I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I have! Thank you for the overwhelming support on this 1st version. You guys made it one of the top 10 most popular decks in the history of Hearthpwn!
This is a Demon Hunter Highlander list which utilizes some interesting cards, and has an 85% WR (25-5) over the first 30 games played with it. Below is a full guide to the deck explaining how to play it, match-ups, and mulligan options. I am also a streamer and legend level player, check out my stream if you enjoy watching hearthstone players :) (https://www.twitch.tv/supersenter).
Deck Overview:
This deck really has no bad match-ups. See the stats below:
Demon Hunter: 7-4 (60% WR)
Every Other Class: 18-1 (93% WR)
This is meant to be played as an aggressive tempo deck, so that means going face most of the time, but also getting board clears when needed. The deck is a little challenging to play, but for the most part the cards in Demon hunter are just so powerful that they win you the game. I have a few interesting options in this deck, which I will explain at the bottom. The next section will be the mulligan/match-up guide.
Mulligan Guide:
In almost every match-up you are looking for early game threats to get out to a fast start.
Always Keep: Battlefiend, Furious Felfin, Netherwalker, Sightless Watcher, Umberwing, Rustworn Initiate, Aldrachi Warblades, Satyr Overseer
Sometimes Keep: Crimson Sigil Runner (If left-most card), Ur’zul Horror (If no other 1 or 2 drops), Zephrys (Against Druid & Priest), Eye Beam (If left-most card), Skull of Guldan (If left-most card)
Demon Hunter: This is your worst match-up, simply because Demon Hunter is so strong. Your main goal here is figure out what type of Demon Hunter deck they are playing, and counter it as fast as possible. You want to play early game threats to gain board control, or have early game spells to clear their board. Lifesteal is crucial against Demon Hunter because of how much damage they put forth. You will win or lose these games based on who plays Imprisoned Antaen & Priestess of Fury better.
Warrior: I think this match-up will be tough because of the armor gain that warrior has. Demon Hunter kills most classes very quickly through board swarming, weapons, and obviously chip damage. Warrior is one of the only classes that has many board clears and “healing” (armor). Your goal in this match-up should be to create early game pressure, but don’t overextend. Then you will finish them off with your deathrattle minions or your big demons.
Priest: See Warrior guide. Other notes: Keep silence for their new 1 mana legendary, or for their lifesteal handbuff card. Disguised Wanderer is very dangerous to play because they could steal it and get the deathrattle.
Druid: Embiggen Druid is a very tough match-up due to the taunts and the stats. Somehow I seem to barely win my games against them, but it’s always very close. You always want silence and Zephyrs to counter their early big minions. Other than that, your best chance is winning fast, and having a big Kayn play to get past their taunts.
Other: I have yet to lose a game against any other class, so it’s hard to say what not to do. The main strategy is to get board control early, and then win with your big demons.
Card Choices:
Most cards in this deck are very obvious, they’re just super strong Demon Hunter or Highlander cards, so I won't explain those.I’ve created this highlander deck to be a little more aggro than normal, so that is the reason behind some of my choices.
Twin Slice: I’ve seen lists that don’t run this, but I feel that it is combos with so many cards and can create outrageous early game plays. One of the stronger cards in the deck honestly.
Consume Magic: Great card draw about 50% of the time, and is super strong in some of your weaker match-ups. It’s your best card against Priest and Druid, and can silence Priestess of Fury.
Netherwalker: Gives you a 2nd Priestess or Antaen most of the time!
Rustsworn Initiate: This card is HEAVILY underrated… It is a 2 mana 3/3 across 2 bodies, has spell damage +1, and the second half is a demon.
Altruis the Outcast: So much stronger than I expected, one of the best cards in the deck. It’s on average a 3 mana 3/2 that deals 2 damage to all enemies and must be cleared ASAP.
Disguised Wanderer: One of my favorite cards of the set. Every streamer I saw gave this 1 star, but I think it will show up in many decks, aggro, deathrattle, and tempo decks. It’s almost like a 3/3 permanent stealth because no one wants to clear it. When they do clear, they’re either using 2 cards to clear 1 guy, or using a clear card and 2 mana on a hero power. Finally, if the 9/1 ever lives then it’s basically instant win. This card has felt very strong overall.
Faceless Corrupter: Obviously a super strong card. It’s usually a 5 mana 8/5 and clears a minion.
This deck gets wrecked by all-spell mage, as they can clear the board every turn, basically, and gain 16 armor in the first few turns. Also the quest priest and Galakron 'loc beat it pretty easily. It's been weakened massively since the nerfs, so doubt it's competitive at higher ranks now.
Since I don't have Metamorphosis and Maiev Shadowsong, I replaced them with Wrathscale Naga and Nethrandamus.
Before the nerf, this deck is really strong. Now, the deck heavily relies on Zephrys the Great and Dragonqueen Alexstrasza. You will get good cards or finishers from them.
This build is strong however, many people are creating counter decks for this one. So beware of Galakrond Warlock, Big/Spell Druid, and Resurrect Priest. You have a good chance of winning against aggro decks tho. Good luck!

wondering how you are performing NOW with the deck :P
built it and it doesn't really perform that well tbh, better run a full demon hunter deck or just a classic rusher
I just hit legend with this Demon Hunter deck:
hi, what cards can i replace these cards?

and .. these cards will soon be removed from the standard .. they should not be crafted now. sry for my eng google trANSLATE
Altruis the Outcast × 1
Kayn Sunfury × 1
Maiev Shadowsong × 1
Dragonqueen Alexstrasza × 1
Just make a regular DH deck if you don't have those
Altruis is a free card. You already have it. If you dont have Dragonqueen, i would suggest you to play another deck. Highlander decks relies heavily on her.
All are irreplaceable. Find another deck.
Disguised and Ur'zul are shit cards ...
Played this to legend with a 59% winrate. I changed Disguised Wanderer to Glaivebound Adept.
Later I also swapped Faceless Corruptor to Chaos Strike for more damage. Faceless Corruptor often felt too awkward to play cause it needs to have something already on the board.
This deck is utlra shit since nerfs hard stuck at plat 2 every deck counters it
Hard agree. There's no way this deck has anywhere near an 83% WR after the nerfs.
Funny^^ I havent lost any game today with a similiar deck version. Diamond 4 now...
I think the Highlander version is a little bit weaker against tempo mirror, but really good against other classes which try to counter this deck like anti demon warlock (:D , a lot of monsters in this deck arent even demons)
I tried many and for me this Tempo Demon Hunter deck worked the best and got me to Legend.
Hey, I think you forgot Frenzied Felwing ! At least I suppose it's a pretty good addition to the deck.
How the hell are you supposed to beat Warlocks with this?
Soul Cleave and Chaos Nova among other cards. You can't expect a deck to beat every other deck though.
I tried this deck from about bronze rank 3 and I’m now platinum rank 5.
I did this after the DH nerf which they got very wrong on “eye Beam” as it sucks when you skull of Gul’dan it and it’s cost goes from 3 to 0 back up to 1 thanks to outcast but that’s for the forums I guess?
Anyway I feel your right about “Disguised Wanderer” this very underrated card has seen some solid action, the two cards wasted are right, also it’s a strong counter to board clears.
It’s also a good target dummy as I had one DH waste his cards clearing the disguised wanderer off the board and I followed up with ”Priestess of Fury” and I’m like: “bet you wish you held onto those cards and took 3 to face now?” with them quitting the game next turn.
also I have found it’s worth using Zephrys early, if you have a meh hand or want to add some pressure just slam him down, a lot of the players do the oops when I play him early... they didn’t last long ;P
I’d play zephrys around turn 4 and up, and play quick if you see the albatross. warlock learned fast that a gorehowl to the face is no joking matter.
also I played a few Rez Priest and got super lucky with pulling a Magtheridon from a netherwalker more than once, this card screws their Rez pool so maybe it might be worth a tech in?
I also had Magtheridon against a Galkrond warlock and the moment he summoned his demons I killed the last warder and it wiped his huge board and swung the game back in my favor.
i gave this list to my brother and he’s also doing very well with it too so thanks for the list :)
Played this deck today and changed one card (Disguised Wanderer) for the 3/5 taunt lifesteal guy. Managed a solid 45%-ish win rate. Deck leans far too much on Zeph and Alex, especially after nerfs.
Really fun deck! From Silver, I am now at platinum 10 with around 10 wins and 3 loses. For people (all) who face other Demon hunters, play as much as you can on curve to keep tempo going. Never lost to one, but lost 2 games from spell mage and one from rush hunter.
Also, I replaced Disguised Wanderer with Inner Demon
